RESUMO

Background: Human sperm heads which present disturbances of choranatin condensation are stained by acidic aniline blue. To determine whether the proportion of unstained heads, i.e with well condensed chromatin, can be considered as an index of sperm quality

Materials and Methods: stady was undertaken in 20 infertile patients with spinal cord injure and 20 infertile patients with non- spinal cord injure. In addition to the usual sperm characteristics, the percentages of unstained heads and of morphologically normal and abnormal forms were concomitantly evaluated

Results: The results obtained in this research show a significant relationship between the mean of sperm volume, concentration, validity and motility

Conclusion: In scipationts and the results taken by previous researchers. In addition the mean of sperm morphology and sperm condensation between the two groups was not significant so we can say that s.ci has no significant effected on condensation of chromatin of sperm

RESUMO

Association between celiac disease [CD] and type I diabetes mellitus [DM] has been evaluated in different studies. If CD coexists with DM and is not diagnosed, it can lead to errors in diagnosis and management. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of celiac disease in patients with type I DM. So that with timely diagnosis and treatment of CD in DM patients, the progress of the disease and its complications are prevented. The study was done on 250 patients [M=102 and F=148] with type I DM and mean age of 18.7+/-9.9 years. Total IgA of serum was measured in all of the patients and anti-endomysial antibody [AEA] was measured in those patients who had a normal range of IgA. Then endoscopy and biopsy of duodenum was done for AEA-Positive patients and pathologic evaluation was done according to Marsh's classification. Total IgA of serum in all of the patients was in normal range and 6 patients [2.4%] were AEA-positive in whom duodenal biopsy was done. Histological changes of samples according to Marsh's classification were grade I in 2, grade II in 3 and grade IIIb in one patient. Out of patients with CD, 3 patients according to hematologic and biochemical tests had Iron deficiency anemia that 2 of them also had abdominal symptoms. Three of them were without any symptoms. Information obtained from this study expresses a high prevalence of CD in patients with type I DM [2.4%] relative to general population [0.6%]. Fifty percent of patients with CD had no signs or symptoms. Thus evaluation of patients with type I DM regardless of symptoms is recommended for CD

RESUMO

In order to determine the normal values of total IgE in children, 3270 sera were taken from 0-14 year old males and females in different parts of Tehran, the capital of Iran. The technique which was used to measure total IgE was ELISA method using monoclonal anti-IgE antibody. The results of this research indicated that the lower value for IgE was detected in children at birth [X=3.53 IU/mL], while the highest value was in 10 year old children [X=74.63 IU/mL]. Therefore, it has been concluded that with increasing age, the IgE level will also increase [r=0.919]. Regardless of the age value, the IgE content in both males and females are the same. But concerning age and sex, the IgE level in four year old girls was higher [X=44.92] than similarly aged boys [X=28.2] [P<0.01], while in eight year old boys, a higher value of IgE [X=66.42] was recorded in comparison to the same aged girls [X=49.59] [P<0.05]
