RESUMO

The main nutrient vessel of the anterolateral thigh flap is the perforator originating from the descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery [LCFA].it supplies a large area of skin on the anterolateral aspect of the thigh. We report here a case of wide inguinoscrotoperineal defect in a young male patient following a post necrotizing fascitis defect which was covered by a pedicled anterolateral thigh flap. The result was satisfactory. The anterolateral thigh flap has the advantage of a long vascular pedicle, large caliber vessels, availability of large skin flap area, and is also suitable as a pedicle, free or flow through flap

RESUMO

Absence of skin is a rare congenital abnormality. These defects are usually small and could be found in the scalp or in the trunk and extremities. We report a case of congential loss of skin equivalent to almost 20% of the total body surface area involving the trunk symmetrically on either side of the mid line, the wound healed with flamazine dressing in 6 weeks time

RESUMO

A case of Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome confined to a right lower extremity in a twelve year old girl is presented. We also found additional congenital abnormalities in both the upper extremities in the form of macrodactyly and clinodactyly. The treatment in the form of continued use of elastic hose was found to be quite satisfactory

RESUMO

The treatment of explosion injuries to the extremities in 217 patients at Al-Razi Orthopaedic Hospital, Kuwait, is reviewed. The data are presented and discussed. The patients were studied with respect to age, sex, nationality, type and extent of injury and surgical treatment. An emphasis is placed on radical surgical debridement and early soft tissue cover

RESUMO

The <> dressing is commonly used in plastic and hand surgical practice. Another simple and effective method of this established technique is described. The advantage of this technique includes the saving of operating time, uniform pressure over the graft and the possibility of removing and replacing the foam if an early inspection of the graft is desired

RESUMO

Use tensor fascia lata musculocutaneous flap for coverage of large trochanteric defects is described. It is safe, a reliable and a versatile flap. A brief anatomy of the tensor fascia lata musculocutaneous flap and the surgical technique of elevating it, is also described

RESUMO

A Prosthesis as a substitute of a thumb is usually discarded, as it has no motion and no sensation. We described a case of traumatic total loss of a thumb and its reconstruction by the neurovascular pedicle method of digital transposition in a 40 year old male, with movability, functioning position of opposition with intact faculty of stereognosis

RESUMO

In 18 patients, with full thickness loss of the volar surface of the thumb, the transfer of a neurovascular island flap was performed according to Littler's technique over a period of three years, from January 1981 to December 1983. Results were evaluated in 14 of these patients on the basis of sensory tests, general hand function, and cosmetic appearance. Two point discrimination [2PD] over the flap area was almost equal to the equivalent area on the opposite middle and/or ring finger. Overall the results were very good
