RESUMO

Suicide is a serious public health concern in the world. Epidemiologists are considered the mainstay of the management of problem. The purpose of this study was to investigate the trend of suicide [attempts and completed] by age and gender in a 6-year time period and to compare the suicide rates between in age and gender groups in Ilam. In this cross-sectional study, a total of number of suicidal attempts during a 6-year period from 2011 to 2016 were recorded. The data were derived from the systematic registration suicide data [SRSD] which collects official statistics from the Ilam University of Medical Sciences. Suicide rate in period of the study in men was reported to be 24.0 in 2011 to 17.9 in 2016 per 100,000 populations; also this rate in women was between 16.2 in 2011 to 7.3 in 2016 per 100,000 populations. Trend analysis revealed a decreasing trend [r= -0.82, p=0.043], in attempts, as well as completed suicides [r= -0.53, p=0.048]. The current data demonstrated a decreasing trend in both attempts and completed suicide rates from 2011 to 2016. Also we found that the rate of completed suicide in all age groups were higher in men compared to women

RESUMO

Aim: Since interactome analysis of diseases can provide candidate biomarker panel related to the diseases, in this research, proteinprotein interaction [PPI] network analysis is used to introduce the involved crucial proteins in Gastric adenocarcinoma [GA]

Background: Gastric adenocarcinoma [GA] is the most common type of stomach cancer. There is no efficient diagnostic molecular method for GA

Methods: Applying Cytoscape software 3.4.0 and String Database, the PPI network was constructed for 200 genes. Based on centrality parameters, the critical nodes were screened. Gene ontology of the key proteins for pathway analysis and molecular function processing were done and the highlighted pathways and activities were discussed

Results: Among 200 initial genes, 141 genes were included in a main connected network. Seven crucial proteins, including tumor protein p53, epidermal growth factor receptor, albumin, v-erb-b2 erythroblastic leukemia viral oncogene homolog 2, neuro/glioblastoma derived oncogene homolog [avian], v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 1, v-src sarcoma [Schmidt-Ruppin A-2] viral oncogene homolog [avian] and catenin [cadherin-associated protein], beta 1, 88kDa, and Myogenic differentiation 1, were introduced as key nodes of the network. These identified proteins are mostly involved in pathways and activities related to cancer

Conclusion: In conclusion, the finding is corresponding to the significant roles of these introduced proteins in GA disease. This protein panel may be a useful probe in the management of GA

RESUMO

Antisocial personality has some clear symptoms as impulsivity, unstable emotions, aggression, drinking, use of drugs, early initiation of sexual behavior make some difficulties and problems in their relations with family members and those who have interaction with them and at least in society. The aim of this study was to evaluate efficacy of dialectical behavior therapy in irrational and anxiety among young male prisoners with antisocial personality in Ilam prison. This Semi experimental study has been done by pre and post test. subjects aged between 18 and 40 years old have been randomly selected among male prisoners in Ilam prison and the experimental group intervention was based on dialectical behavior therapy protocol. Questionnaires of the Millon Clinical Questionnaire, Johns Irrational Beliefs and Back Anxiety were used. Dialectical behavior therapy was significantly effective in the treatment of anxiety [p<0.05] and irrational beliefs [p<0.05]. Our results showed that dialectical behavior therapy has efficacy on anxiety and irrational beliefs of subjects with antisocial personality disorder

RESUMO

Background and Aim: Diabetes is one of the mortality factors in the world. Nutritional and environmental pollution with heavy metals, especially lead, exacerbates diabetic condition. The curcumin in Turmeric has antioxidant properties and therapeutic effects on the treatment of some diseases such as diabetes

Materials and Methods: In an interventional experiment designed to investigate the protective effect of turmeric powder on consequences of lead acetate on some blood parameters in the diabetic male rats, 32 male Wistar rats with an average initial weight of 182.6 +/- 1.8 g each were randomly divided into four groups, i.e. the control, diabetic [streptozotocin injection in dose of 55 ppm], diabetic+Pb [100 ppm solute in water], and diabetic+Pb+CL [2% of DMI]. Trial period was 4 weeks. Blood samples from the heart of the rats were taken on the 29[th] day

Results: Turmeric powder improved insulin secretion and reduced blood glucose. Total protein increased in CL treatment group. ALT, AST, triglyceride, and cholesterol significantly increased in diabetes treatment groups compared with the control

Conclusion: Probably the antioxidant compounds found in Turmeric especially curcumin can reduce some complications of lead acetate in diabetic patients
