En este artículo se ha intentado mostrar una síntesis de los datosrelativos a la influencia de los factores emocionales, específicamentela ansiedad y la depresión, en el proceso de salud-enfermedad.Estos factores se han asociado con las enfermedades crónicas comovariables influyentes en el inicio, desarrollo y mantenimiento. Sehan hipotetizado básicamente dos vías explicativas generales. Laprimera hace referencia a la influencia de la ansiedad y de la depresión en la conducta, de manera que interfieren en los hábitos saludablesy fomentan el desarrollo de conductas inadecuadas que ponenen peligro nuestra salud. El segundo mecanismo se refiere a larepercusión de la activación psicofisiológica en los sistemas orgánicos, afectando a la inmunidad, por ejemplo. Pero no sólo existe unarelación en el curso de la enfermedad, sino que también se conoceuna alta comorbilidad de estas enfermedades con los trastornosansiosos y depresivos, frecuentemente como consecuencia del padecimientode las mismas. Por último, también se han revisado las intervenciones que han demostrado su eficacia en el tratamiento de la sintomatología ansiosa y depresiva en enfermos crónicos.

This article has tried to show a synthesis of data on the influence of emotionalfactors, specifically anxiety and depression, in the process of health anddisease. These factors have been associated with chronic diseases such asvariables influencing the initiation, development and maintenance. We havebasically two ways to hypothesize this issue in a general explanatory way.The first refers to the influence of anxiety and depression in the behavior, so that interfere with healthy habits and encourage the development ofinappropriate behavior that endanger our health. The second mechanism relatedto the impact of psychophysiological activation in organic systems, affectingimmunity, for example. But not only there is a relationship in the course of the disease, but also knows a high comorbidity of these disorders with anxious and depressive disorders, often as a result of the suffering of the same.Finally, we have also revised the interventions that have proven effective in the treatment of symptoms of anxiety and depression in chronically ill.

Psiconeuroinmunología: conexiones entre sistema nervoso y sistema inmune / Psychoneuroimmunology: connections between nervous system and immune system

La psiconeuroinmunología es una nueva parcela de la ciencia queapenas lleva tres décadas, pero que en los últimos años ha sidoobjeto de una enorme atención por diversos grupos de investigación.El articulo pretende exponer brevemente cómo están organizadoslos sistemas inmune y neuroendocrino, para después presentar loshallazgos que hasta el momento intentan dar explicación de las relacionesentre ambos con el sistema nervioso, así como las influenciasde unos sobre otros, más concretamente expresar la relación entrelos tres sistemas responsables de la defensa del organismo y, másampliamente, de su mantenimiento homeostático. Cuando se trata deamenazas, el sistema nervioso central tiene que decidir qué sistemase pone en marcha, el sistema de estrés como energía para el ataqueo la huida (un animal que nos quiere atacar), el sistema inmune paraneutralizar el antígeno (un virus que nos quiere atacar) o ambos (laenergía es necesaria también para el sistema inmune). Como pareceser que en muchas ocasiones la depresión aparece tras los esfuerzosinfructuosos de puesta en marcha de estrategias de afrontamiento,también hemos repasado sucintamente algunas investigaciones que relacionan al sistema inmune con la depresión,así como con los trastornos del sueño. Se finaliza con las aportacionesque la psicología puede ofrecer a nivel terapéutico.

Psychoneuroimmunology is a new piece of science that just brings three decades,but in recent years has been subjected to an enormous attention by variousresearch groups. This article aims to explain briefly how they were organizedimmune and neuroendocrine systems, and then present the findings to dateattempting to explain the relationship between the nervous system, as well asthe influences of some over others, in particular to express the relationship among the three systems responsible for the defense of the body and, more broadly, its homeostatic maintenance. When it comes to threats, the central nervous system has to decide what system is put in place, the system of stress as energy for the attack or the fight (an animal that wants to attack us), the immune system to neutralize antigen ( viruses that we want to attack) or both (energy is also necessary for the immune system). As it appeared that many times depression appears afterfruitless efforts for the launch of coping strategies, we also briefly reviewed some investigations that relate to the immune system with depression, as well as sleep disorders. It ends with the contributions psychology can offer therapeutic level.

Psicología y cáncer / Psychology and cancer

La enfermedad cancerosa siempre ha ido acompañada de repercusionespsicológicas. Los factores psicológicos relacionados con el cáncerson estudiados por la Psicooncología. La investigación en psicooncología es fundamental para propiciar su desarrollo. Para poder realizar estudios en este campo con garantías científicas, es necesario incluir un diagnóstico fiable y cuantificado que incluya la descripción del lugar anatómico del tumor primario, el tipo histológico del tumor, los lugares de las metástasis y cuantos datos permitan caracterizar el grado de desarrollo alcanzado por la enfermedad. En este trabajo se describe la definición y objetivos que persigue la Psicooncología, los tipos de prevención, la importancia de la evaluaciónpsicológica, la intervención psicosocial del paciente con cáncer para elcontrol de náuseas y vómitos, manejo psicológico del dolor y de ansiedady depresión, y la metodología de investigación en esta área.

In order to be able to make studies in this field withscientific guarantees, is necessary to include a solid diagnosis and quantifiedthat includes a description of the anatomical location of the primary tumor, the histological type of the tumor, the sites of metastasis and those allow data to characterize the degree of development reached by the disease. This work describes to the definition and objectives of the psychooonchology, types of prevention, importance of psychological assessment, psychosocial intervention of the patient with cancer for the control of nausea and vomiting, pain and psychological measures of anxiety and depression, and methodology research in this area.
