RESUMO
Se realizó una intervención grupal educativa desde diciembre del 2006 hasta junio del 2007 para incrementar los conocimientos sobre salud bucal en 50 educandos de quinto grado de la Escuela Primaria Lidia Doce Sánchez, perteneciente al área de salud del Departamento de Estomatología del Policlínico Camilo Torres Restrepo de Santiago de Cuba, para lo cual se aplicó un programa educativo denominado Bella Sonrisa, que incluía técnicas educativas, afectivas y participativas, así como juegos didácticos. Las diferencias observadas antes y después de la intervención, según resultados de la prueba estadística de Mc Nemar y del coeficiente de variación, fueron altamente significativas. Siete meses después, al evaluar nuevamente los conocimientos sobre salud bucal, se halló que estos habían aumentado favorablemente en 98 por ciento de los escolares y que la acción educativa demostró ser eficaz, de manera que podría efectuarse en otras instituciones de la enseñanza primaria en el territorio.
A group educational intervention was carried out from December, 2006 to June, 2007 to increase the knowledge on oral health in 50 fifth grade students of Lidia Doce Sánchez Primary School , belonging to the health area of the Dentistry Department from Camilo Torres Restrepo Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, for which an educational program named Bella Sonrisa was applied that included educational, affective and participative techniques, as well as didactic games. The differences observed before and after the intervention, according to results of the Mc Nemar statistical test and of the variation coefficient, were highly significant. Seven months later, when evaluating again the knowledge on oral health, it was found that they had increased favorably in 98 per cent of the scholars and that the educational action demonstrated to be effective, so that it could be carried out in other institutions of the primary teaching in the territory.
