Background - Acute diverticulitis is the most common complication of diverticular disease. The majority of these patients will require only medical management including bowel rest and antibiotics, whereas some will require surgical treatment. However, the choice of the optimal antibiotic regimen has not yet and antibiotics regimen has not yet been determined.
