The influence of iodotrichlorosilane [ITCS in situe] on the reaction of enones with acetonitrile or benzonitrile has been studied. The alpha-iodoether of enones undergo addition to nitrile followed by irreversible redox reaction and hydrolysis to give the corresponding N-substituted amides
