RESUMO

By using electron microscopy histochemical method, light microscopy histochemical method and microspectrophoto meter, we studied the ACP activity of the principal cell of epididymal duct in the postnatal 10-90 days rats. The results revealed that ACP activity increased with the increase days. We also observed the following phenomena: in the postnatal 10 days rats the ACP activity was only localized on GERL and vesicles around GERL; by in the postnatal 19 days rats, the ACP activity was localized on lysosome; and 35 days later, the ACP was also localized on the saccules on the forming face of Golgi complex. The significance of the above changes in ACP activity of the principal cell of epididymal duct in postnatal rats was discussed in this paper.

RESUMO

Activity and localization of y-glutamyl transpeptidase (?-GT) , ?-Naph-thyl acetate esterase (ANAE) , alkaline phospbatase (AKP) and glucose-6-phosphatase (G-6-P) in the epididymis of the rat has been investigated histo-chemically by light microscopy.?-GT activity was mainly localized on the supranuclear region and the ste-reocilia of the epithelial cells. The intensity in the epithelium of the segment Ⅱ is the highest of the rat epididymis. There was a gradual decrease in the intensity of this enzyme from segment Ⅲ through Ⅳ and it was absent from the segment Ⅳ. Activity of ANAE in the segment Ⅳ, Ⅴ and Ⅵ was higher, but that in the segment Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅳ was less. ANAE activity was localized throughout the cytoplasm of the epithelial cells in the segment Ⅰ,Ⅲ, Ⅴ and Ⅵ. Whereas the activity in the segment Ⅱ and Ⅳ was localized on the basal region of the epithelial cells. AKP activity was present in the basement membrane of the epididymal epithelium and the bloodvessel wall of subepithelial connective, tissue of the epididymal duct. G-6-P was distributed homogenously in the cytoplasm of the epithelial cells throughout the epididymal duct. The possible function of these enzymes in the rat epididymis are briefly discussed.

RESUMO

By the routine electron microscopy the ultrastructure of the epididymis of 10 rats is studied.Except the principal cells, there is no significant difference in the ultrastructure of the other cell types of the epididymal epithelium between segments. The principal cell shows the ultrastructural characteristics of secretion and absorption. However, the ultrastructural characteristics of the principal cells in the proximal epididymvs show more tendency to absorbent and that in the distal epididymis show more tendency to secretory.Further-more it is observed that some halo cells are surrounded by small cells which possess long processes. Some or a few number of clear cells in the caudal epididymis contain some crystaloid inclusions in their basal cytoplasm. The presence of the fenestrated capillary in the peritubular tissue is also found. The meaning of the ultrastructures mentioned above is discussed.

RESUMO

Guinea pig, pigeon and toad are the vertebrates on different evolution level. The acid phosphatase content in the hepatocytes of centrilobular area and periportal area of hepatic lobules were quantitatively measured by microspectrophotometer and image analyser. The results showed that the content of acid phosphatase of hepatocytes was highest in guinea pig, lowest in pigeon, and toad in between the both. The average density of acid phosphatase distribution in the hepatocytes increases according to the evolution order. The significance of this phenomenon was discussed.
