RESUMO
O presente estudo teve por objetivo descrever a técnica de confecção de uma próteseoculopalpebral em resina acrílica termopolimerizável, visando à reabilitaçãobiopsicossocial de um paciente atendido no Serviço de Prótese Bucomaxilofacial daUniversidade Federal de Pernambuco. O passo a passo da reabilitação foi descrito,introduzindo-se as modificações preconizadas pelos autores à técnica convencionalde confecção de uma epítese facial em material aloplástico rígido. Os autores concluemque, apesar das recentes pesquisas em busca de novos materiais com melhorespropriedades e dos avanços na área da engenharia genética para confecção de órgãosartificiais, a resina acrílica ainda tem suas indicações na reabilitação facial.
The present study aimed to describe the technique of making a prosthetic eyelid inthermicpolymerized acrylic resin, trying to reach the biopsychosocial rehabilitationof a patient treated in the Maxillo-Facial Prosthodontics Department of FederalUniversity of Pernambuco. The process of rehabilitation was described step-by-step,introducing the changes advocated by the authors to the conventional techniqueof making a facial alloplastic materials epitese drive. The authors conclude that,despite recent research in search of new materials with improved properties andadvances in genetic engineering for production of artificial organs, acrylic resinstill has its indications in facial rehabilitation.
