A vivência do processo de amamentação e desmame precoce por mulheres-mãe orientadas para o aleitamento materno: estudo qualitativo / The experience of the breastfeeding/early weaning process by women orientated to breastfeeding: a qualitative study

Problem: The review of literature on breastfeeding/early weaning limits its conditionings on biological aspects, not including the subjectivities of the women who are breastfeeding. Objective: to understand the phenomenon of breastfeeding/early weaning from the discourse of women who experienced it. Method: It is a qualitative approach. The data were collected from a mid-sized private hospital maternity in the City of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. We interviewed twelve women who stopped breastfeeding early, using a question guide. The speeches were comprehensively analyzed. According to the speeches, the two categories that emerged were: feelings experienced during breastfeeding and life-world of mothers. Main results: The revealing of speeches showed that women experienced ambivalent feelings in relation to breastfeeding, which may be positive, negative or ambiguous. Also present are the conflicts experienced by the mothers that breastfeeds and works. Conclusions: The tensions generated during the period of lactation have an influence on breastfeeding/weaning.

Problema: A revisão da literatura acerca da amamentação/desmame precoce limita os seus condicionantes ao campo biológico, não contemplando as subjetividades das mulheres que amamentam. Objetivo: compreender o fenômeno da amamentação/desmame precoce a partir das falas das mulheres que o vivenciaram. Método: Estudo de abordagem qualitativa. Os dados foram coletados em uma maternidade particular de médio porte da cidade de Belo Horizonte. Foram entrevistadas 12 mulheres que realizaram o desmame precoce, utilizando-se de uma questão orientadora. Os discursos foram submetidos à análise compreensiva. Da análise dos discursos emergiu as categorias sentimentos vivenciados durante a amamentação e mundo-vida das mulheres-mães. Principais Resultados: O revelar das falas mostrou que a mulher experimenta sentimentos ambivalentes em relação à amamentação, que podem ser positivos, negativos ou ainda ambíguos. Também estão presentes os conflitos vivenciados pela mãe-que-amamenta-e-trabalha. Conclusões: As tensões geradas durante o período de aleitamento têm influenciado o processo amamentação/desmame.
