RESUMO

Purpose@#In this study, we propose a deep learning (DL)–based voxel-based dosimetry method in which dose maps acquired using the multiple voxel S-value (VSV) approach were used for residual learning. @*Methods@#Twenty-two SPECT/CT datasets from seven patients who underwent 177 Lu-DOTATATE treatment were used in this study. The dose maps generated from Monte Carlo (MC) simulations were used as the reference approach and target images for network training. The multiple VSV approach was used for residual learning and compared with dose maps generated from deep learning. The conventional 3D U-Net network was modified for residual learning. The absorbed doses in the organs were calculated as the mass-weighted average of the volume of interest (VOI). @*Results@#The DL approach provided a slightly more accurate estimation than the multiple-VSV approach, but the results were not statistically significant. The single-VSV approach yielded a relatively inaccurate estimation. No significant difference was noted between the multiple VSV and DL approach on the dose maps. However, this difference was prominent in the error maps. The multiple VSV and DL approach showed a similar correlation. In contrast, the multiple VSV approach underestimated doses in the low-dose range, but it accounted for the underestimation when the DL approach was applied. @*Conclusion@#Dose estimation using the deep learning–based approach was approximately equal to that in the MC simulation. Accordingly, the proposed deep learning network is useful for accurate and fast dosimetry after radiation therapy using 177 Lu-labeled radiopharmaceuticals.

RESUMO

Purpose@#The purpose of the present study was to identify the prevalence and clinical characteristics of borderline personality disorder (BPD) in South Korea using the Korean National Health Insurance database (DB). @*Materials and Methods@#We used the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS)’s research DB (NHIS-2021-1-790) from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2019, to make customized DB including sociodemographic information and absence or presence of BPD and other psychiatric disorders. The prevalence and the age of onset of BPD was estimated. To compare medical service utilization between the BPD group and the control group, a 1:1:1 propensity score matching was employed, and the regression analysis was conducted. @*Results@#The prevalence of BPD per 10000 people was 0.96 in 2010 and 1.06 in 2019. The prevalence ratio of males to females was 1:1.38 in 2010 and 1:1.65 in 2019, showing that BPD was more prevalent in females. The patients’ overall average age of onset was 33.19±14.6 years, with the highest prevalence shown in 8503 people in their 20s. By administrative district, the highest prevalence of BPD per 10000 people was shown in Seoul with 8.71 and the lowest in Jeollanam-do with 2.35. The BPD patients showed a pattern of extensive use of general and mental healthcare services. @*Conclusion@#This study identified the prevalence of BPD on a national DB set in South Korea. Although the prevalence of BPD in South Korea was relatively low compared to other countries, there was a steady increase in the number of BPD patients over a decade, which may be possibly due to an increased awareness of mental health and campaigns among healthcare providers and users in the country.

RESUMO

Background/Aims@#To investigate the risk of metabolic syndrome and fatty liver diseases in gastric cancer survivors compared to non-cancer subjects. @*Methods@#The data from the health screening registry of the Gangnam Severance Hospital from 2014–2019 was used. Ninety-one gastric cancer survivors and a propensity-score-matching 445 non-cancer subjects were analyzed. Gastric cancer survivors were divided into those with surgical treatment (OpGC, n=66) and non-surgical treatment (non-OpGC, n=25). Metabolic syndrome, fatty liver by ultrasonography, and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) were assessed. @*Results@#Metabolic syndrome was in 15.4% of gastric cancer survivors (OpGC; 13.6%, non-OpGC; 20.0%). Fatty liver by ultrasonography was in 35.2% in gastric cancer survivors (OpGC; 30.3%, non-OpGC: 48.0%). MAFLD was in 27.5% of gastric cancer survivor (OpGC; 21.2%, non-OpGC; 44.0%). After adjusting for age, sex, smoking, and alcohol, the risk of metabolic syndrome was lower in OpGC than in non-cancer subjects (OR, 0.372; 95% CI, 0.176-0.786, p=0.010). After adjusting, OpGC showed lower risks of fatty liver by ultrasonography (OR, 0.545; 95% CI, 0.306-0.970, p=0.039) and MAFLD (OR, 0.375; 95% CI, 0.197-0.711, p=0.003) than did non-cancer subjects. There were no significant differences in the risks of metabolic syndrome and fatty liver diseases between non-OpGC and non-cancer subjects. @*Conclusions@#OpGC showed lower risks of metabolic syndrome, fatty liver by ultrasonography, and MAFLD than non-cancer subjects, but there were no significant differences in the risks between non-OpGC and non-cancer subjects. Further studies on metabolic syndrome and fatty liver diseases in gastric cancer survivors are warranted.

RESUMO

Objective@#This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of problematic smartphone use (PSU) among adolescents and its association with anxiety and suicidal ideation. @*Methods@#The 16th cross-sectional, population-based Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey was administered in 2020 and included 54,948 adolescents. We used the Korean version of the smartphone overdependence scale and the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale to assess PSU and anxiety. Suicidal ideation was assessed through responses to the self-report question. Multiple logistic regression analyses with complex sampling were conducted to identify the association of PSU with anxiety and suicidal ideation. @*Results@#In total, 25.1% of the adolescents reported PSU, 33.2% had anxiety symptoms, and 10.9% had seriously considered suicide during the past 12 months. Girls with PSU had a higher risk of anxiety (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 2.81; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.65 to 2.97) and suicidal ideation (aOR, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.64 to 1.91) than non-PSU girls. Boys with PSU reported more anxiety (aOR, 2.89; 95% CI, 2.72 to 3.07) and suicidal ideation (aOR, 1.82; 95% CI, 1.66 to 1.99) than the non-PSU group. In addition, girls with the lowest household income reported more suicidal ideation than girls with the highest household income (aOR, 3.40; 95% CI, 2.69 to 4.28). @*Conclusion@#This study demonstrated the prevalence of PSU among South Korean adolescents in 2020. The prioritization of the detection of PSU and the identification of psychological factors may help improve the diagnosis and management of mental health problems and potentially yield significant psychosocial benefits.

RESUMO

Objective@#The health behavior and mental health problems of adolescents have shown a variety of changes due to the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study compared health behavior, obesity, and mental health among Korean adolescents before and during the early COVID-19 pandemic. @*Methods@#Population-based and cross-sectional data from the 2019 and 2020 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Surveys were used. Data of 57,048 and 54,948 adolescents from the 2019 and 2020 surveys, respectively, were compared. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to compare health behavior, obesity, and mental health before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. @*Results@#The adjusted odds ratio (aOR) of overweight, obesity, and body image perceived subjectively as fat, were higher in the 2020 sample compared to the 2019 sample. The aOR of the frequency (more than 3 times a week) of fast-food consumption was higher in 2020 than in 2019. However, the aOR of physical activity, alcohol use, and smoking experience were lower in 2020 than in 2019. In addition, during COVID-19, adolescents were less likely to have perceived severe stress, depressive moods, and suicidal ideation. @*Conclusion@#Current evidence suggests the co-occurrence of positive and negative changes in health behavior, obesity, and mental health among Korean adolescents during the early COVID-19 pandemic. The results contribute insights for monitoring adolescents’ health behavior and promoting their mental health during school shutdowns.

RESUMO

Objective@#The economic hardship brought by the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-2019) pandemic has caused mental health problems among people of different socioeconomic status (SES). As social support helps to buffer these problems, we investigated the association between job loss related to COVID-19 and depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts; the differences in the effects according to SES; and the mediating effects of social support. @*Methods@#The effects of COVID-19-related job loss on depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts among 1,364 people were investigated through semi-structured and self-administered questionnaires: Patient Health Questionnaire–9, General Anxiety Disorder–7, and the Functional Social Support Questionnaire. Logistic regression and subgroup analyses were performed to assess the association between job loss and mental health status, and the moderating effects of income and educational levels. Moreover, the mediating effects of perceived social support on the association between job loss and depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts were analyzed. @*Results@#COVID-19-related job loss increased the risk of depression and suicidal thoughts. Adults with lower income and education level were at higher risk of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts; perceived social support level had significant mediating effects on the association between job loss and depression/anxiety; and income level had significant moderating effects on this mediating pathway. @*Conclusion@#COVID-19-related job loss were likely to be significantly associated with negative mental health outcomes, especially among individuals with low income and education levels. As social support had buffering effects on such outcomes, related government policies in cooperation with the governance of communities and stakeholders must be prepared.

RESUMO

Objective@#This study examined the association between social support and postpartum depression (PPD) according to the time after childbirth within 12 months in South Korea. @*Methods@#Data were collected from 1,481 women in Chungnam Province, South Korea from September 21 to 30, 2022. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to examine the association between social support and PPD. Subgroup analysis of the associations of support from family, friends, and significant others with PPD according to the time after childbirth was undertaken using crude and adjusted models. @*Results@#Of the participants, 39.91% had PPD. The prevalence of PPD was 36.05% at <3 months, 37.50% at 3≤ to <6 months, and 44.41% at 6≤ to <12 months. A 1-point increase in the social support score was associated with an increase in the adjusted odds ratio of PPD of 0.91 (95% confidence interval=0.90–0.93). Social support from family was significantly associated with PPD regardless of the time after childbirth. Support from significant others was significantly associated with PPD after 6≤ to <12 months. @*Conclusion@#Family support should be provided consistently to women after birth; social connections with significant others can prevent PPD.

RESUMO

Background@#Volume overload is associated not only with clinical manifestations but also with poor outcomes of heart failure (HF). However, there is an unmet need for effective methods for serial monitoring of volume status during HF hospitalization. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic implication of serial measurement of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) in patients hospitalized with acute HF. @*Methods@#This study is a retrospective observational study and screened 310 patients hospitalized due to acute decompensated HF between November 2021 and September 2022. Among them, 116 patients with acute HF who underwent BIA at the time of admission and at discharge were evaluated. We investigated the correlation between change of BIA parameters and the primary composite outcome (in-hospital mortality or rehospitalization for worsening HF within one month). @*Results@#The median (interquartile range) age was 77 years (67–82 years). The mean left ventricular ejection fraction was 40.7 ± 14.6% and 55.8% of HF patients have HF with reduced ejection fraction. The body water composition (intracellular water [ICW], extracellular water [ECW], and total body water [TBW]) showed a statistically significant correlation with body mass index and LV chamber sizes. Furthermore, the ratio of ECW to TBW (ECW/TBW), as an edema index showed a significant correlation with natriuretic peptide levels. Notably, the change of the edema index during hospitalization (ΔECW/TBW) showed a significant correlation with the primary outcome. The area under the curve of ΔECW/TBW for predicting primary outcome was 0.71 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.61–0.79; P = 0.006). When patients were divided into two groups based on the median value of ΔECW/TBW, the group of high and positive ΔECW/TBW (+0.3% to +5.1%) had a significantly higher risk of the primary outcome (23.2% vs. 8.3%, adjusted odds ratio, 4.8; 95% CI, 1.2–19.3; P = 0.029) than those with a low and negative ΔECW/TBW (−5.3% to +0.2%). @*Conclusion@#BIA is a noninvasive and effective method to evaluate the volume status during the hospitalization of HF patients. The high and positive value of ΔECW/TBW during hospitalization was associated with poor outcomes in patients with HF.

RESUMO

Background@#Nonpharmacological interventions (NPIs) reduce the incidence of respiratory infections. After NPIs imposed during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic ceased, respiratory infections gradually increased worldwide. However, few studies have been conducted on severe respiratory infections requiring hospitalization in pediatric patients. This study compares epidemiological changes in severe respiratory infections during pre-NPI, NPI, and post-NPI periods in order to evaluate the effect of that NPI on severe respiratory infections in children. @*Methods@#We retrospectively studied data collected at 13 Korean sentinel sites from January 2018 to October 2022 that were lodged in the national Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARIs) surveillance database. @*Results@#A total of 9,631 pediatric patients were admitted with SARIs during the pre-NPI period, 579 during the NPI period, and 1,580 during the post-NPI period. During the NPI period, the number of pediatric patients hospitalized with severe respiratory infections decreased dramatically, thus from 72.1 per 1,000 to 6.6 per 1,000. However, after NPIs ceased, the number increased to 22.8 per 1,000. During the post-NPI period, the positive test rate increased to the level noted before the pandemic. @*Conclusion@#Strict NPIs including school and daycare center closures effectively reduced severe respiratory infections requiring hospitalization of children. However, childcare was severely compromised. To prepare for future respiratory infections, there is a need to develop a social consensus on NPIs that are appropriate for children.

RESUMO

Background@#This study aimed to analyze the suicidal warning signs of Korean students with different psychometric profiles based on teacher reports. @*Methods@#This was a retrospective cohort study based on Korean school teachers’ responses to the Student Suicide Report Form. In total, 546 consecutive cases of student suicide were reported from 2017 to 2020. After missing data were excluded, 528 cases were included. The report consisted of demographic factors, the Korean version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for teacher reporting, and warning signs of suicide. Frequency analysis, multiple response analysis, the χ2 test, and Latent Class Analysis (LCA) were performed. @*Results@#Based on the scores of the Korean version of the teacher-reported SDQ, the group was divided into nonsymptomatic (n = 411) and symptomatic (n = 117) groups. Based on the LCA results, four latent hierarchical models were selected. The four classes of deceased students showed significant differences in school type (χ2 = 20.410, P < 0.01), physical illness (χ2 = 7.928, P < 0.05), mental illness (χ2 = 94.332, P < 0.001), trigger events (χ2 = 14.817, P < 0.01), self-harm experience (χ2 = 30.618, P < 0.001), suicide attempts (χ2 = 24.072, P < 0.001), depressive symptoms (χ2 = 59.561, P < 0.001), anxiety (χ2 = 58.165, P < 0.001), impulsivity (χ2 = 62.241, P < 0.001), and social problems (χ2 = 64.952, P < 0.001). @*Conclusion@#Notably, many students who committed suicide did not have any psychiatric pathology. The proportion of the group with a prosocial appearance was also high. Therefore, the actual suicide warning signals were similar regardless of students’ difficulties and prosocial behaviors, so it is necessary to include this information in gatekeeper education.

RESUMO

Background@#This study aimed to examine the factors associated with internet gaming disorder (IGD) and the mediating role of pediatric symptoms (attention, externalizing problems and internalizing problems) in children and adolescents with a family history of addiction as an adverse childhood experience (ACE). @*Methods@#A total of 2,586 children and adolescents (mean age = 14.04 ± 2.34; age range = 11–19 years; 50.5% boys) completed the Internet Game Use-Elicited Symptom Screen and the Pediatric Symptom Checklist-17. IBM SPSS Statistics 21 was used to calculate descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficients and to conduct multiple regression analyses.Mediation analysis was performed using the Sobel test and the SPSS PROCESS macro. Serial multiple mediation analysis was performed using bootstrapping with 5,000 replications. @*Results@#The higher levels of Attention problems (β = −0.228, P < 0.001) and externalizing problems (β = −0.213, P < 0.001) were associated with IGD. Furthermore, the indirect effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable through the mediators was significant (Sobel’s T: Z = −5.006, P < 0.001). These findings suggest that attention and externalizing problems mediate the effect of family history of addiction on IGD. @*Conclusion@#This study demonstrated the associations among the family history of addiction, IGD, and pediatric symptoms (attention, externalizing problems, and internalizing problems) among Korean children and adolescents. Therefore, we need to pay attention to pediatric symptoms and develop systematic alternatives to improve mental health among Korean children and adolescents with a family history of addiction as ACEs.

RESUMO

Background and Objectives@#The colonic epithelial layer is a complex structure consisting of multiple cell types that regulate various aspects of colonic physiology, yet the mechanisms underlying epithelial cell differentiation during development remain unclear. Organoids have emerged as a promising model for investigating organogenesis, but achieving organ-like cell configurations within colonic organoids is challenging. Here, we investigated the biological significance of peripheral neurons in the formation of colonic organoids. @*Methods@#and Results: Colonic organoids were co-cultured with human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived peripheralneurons, resulting in the morphological maturation of columnar epithelial cells, as well as the presence of enterochromaffin cells. Substance P released from immature peripheral neurons played a critical role in the development of colonic epithelial cells. These findings highlight the vital role of inter-organ interactions in organoid development and provide insights into colonic epithelial cell differentiation mechanisms. @*Conclusions@#Our results suggest that the peripheral nervous system may have a significant role in the development ofcolonic epithelial cells, which could have important implications for future studies of organogenesis and disease modeling.

RESUMO

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a rare hereditary disorder characterized by progressive heterotopic ossifica-tion in muscle and connective tissue, with few reported cases affecting the head and neck region. Although plain radiographic findings and computed tomography features have been well documented, limited reports exist onmagnetic resonance findings. This report presents 2 cases of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, one with limited mouth opening due to heterotopic ossification of the lateral pterygoid muscle and the other with restricted neck movement due to heterotopic ossification of the platysma muscle. Clinical findings of restricted mouth opening or limited neck movement, along with radiological findings of associated heterotopic ossification, should prompt consideration of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva in the differential diagnosis. Dentists should be particularly vigilant with patients diagnosed with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva to avoid exposure to diagnostic biopsy andinvasive dental procedures.

RESUMO

Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a benign myofibroblastic proliferation that grows very rapidly, mimicking a sarcoma on imaging. It is treated by local excision, and recurrence has been reported in only a few cases, even when excised incompletely. The most prevalent diagnoses of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) masses include synovial chondromatosis, pigmented villonodular synovitis, and sarcomas. Cases of NF in the TMJ are extremely rare, and only 3 cases have been reported to date. Due to its destructive features and rarity, NF has often been misdiagnosed as a more aggressive lesion, which could expose patients to unnecessary and invasive treatment approaches beyond repair. This report presents a case of NF in the TMJ, focusing on various imaging features, along with a literature review aiming to determine the hallmark features of NF in the TMJ and highlight the diagnostic challenges.

RESUMO

Purpose@#Albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score is a well-known prognostic factor for various diseases, including colorectal cancer (CRC). However, little is known about the significance of postoperative ALBI score changes in patients with CRC. @*Materials and Methods@#A total of 723 patients who underwent surgery were enrolled. Preoperative ALBI (ALBI-pre) and postoperative ALBI (ALBI-post) scores were divided into low and high score groups. ALBI-trend was defined as a combination of four groups comprising the low and high ALBI-pre and ALBI-post score groups. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to compare the overall survival (OS) between the different ALBI groups. The Cox proportional hazards model was used to examine the independent relevant factors of OS. Stratification performance was compared between the different ALBI groupings using Harrell’s concordance index (C-index). @*Results@#ALBI-pre, ALBI-post, and ALBI-trend score groups were significant prognostic factors of OS in the univariable analysis. However, multivariable analysis showed that ALBI-trend was an independent prognostic factor while ALBI-pre and ALBI-post were not. The C-index of ALBI-trend (0.622; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.587 to 0.655) was higher than that of ALBI-pre (0.589; 95% CI, 0.557 to 0.621; bootstrap mean difference, 0.033; 95% CI, 0.013 to 0.057) and ALBI-post (0.575; 95% CI, 0.545 to 0.605; bootstrap mean difference, 0.047; 95% CI, 0.024 to 0.074). @*Conclusion@#Combining ALBI-pre and ALBI-post scores is an independent prognostic factor of OS and shows superior predictive power compared to ALBI-pre or ALBI-post alone in patients with CRC.

RESUMO

Purpose@#The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related knowledge, preventive behaviors, risk perception, nursing professional values, and COVID-19 psychological distress among nursing students, and to identify factors associated with senior nursing students’ COVID-19 psychological distress. @*Methods@#This descriptive cross-sectional study included fourth-year nursing students (n=183). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire between May and June 2022. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, the Scheffé test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis, using SPSS version 27.0 for Windows. @*Results@#COVID-19 risk perception (β=.39, p<.001) had the strongest association with COVID-19-related psychological distress, followed by COVID-19 knowledge (β=.37, p<.001), major satisfaction (β=-.19, p=.004), and COVID-19 preventive behavior (β=-.16, p=.023). These variables accounted for approximately 27% of the variance in COVID-19-related psychological distress. @*Conclusion@#Nursing educators should work to develop interventions to reduce nursing students’ COVID-19-related psychological distress and should consider COVID-19 knowledge, COVID-19 risk perception, and COVID-19 preventive behavior. Furthermore, plans should be developed to enhance students’ satisfaction with the nursing major by improving the clinical practicum suited to their needs.

RESUMO

Background/Aims@#Initiation of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) during hospitalization is recommended for patients with heart failure (HF). However, GDMT is underutilized in real-world practice. This study evaluated the role of a discharge checklist on GDMT. @*Methods@#This was a single-center, observational study. The study included all patients hospitalized for HF between 2021 and 2022. The clinical data were retrieved from the electronic medical records and discharge checklist published by the Korean Society of Heart Failure. The adequacy of GDMT prescriptions was evaluated in three ways: the total number of GDMT drug classes and two types of adequacy scores. The primary endpoint was the incidence of all-cause mortality or rehospitalization due to HF within 2 months of discharge. @*Results@#Overall, the checklist was completed by 244 patients (checklist group) and was not completed in 171 patients (non-checklist group). The baseline characteristics were comparable between two groups. At discharge, a higher proportion of patients in the checklist group received GDMT than in the non-checklist group (67.6% vs. 50.9%, p = 0.001). The incidence of primary endpoint was lower in the checklist group compared to the non-checklist group (5.3% vs. 11.7%, p = 0.018). The use of the discharge checklist was associated with significantly lower risk of death and rehospitalization in the multivariable analysis (hazard ratio, 0.45; 95% confidence interval, 0.23–0.92; p = 0.028). @*Conclusions@#Discharge checklist usage is a simple but effective strategy for GDMT initiation during hospitalization. The discharge checklist was associated with better outcome in patients with HF.

RESUMO

Background/Aims@#This study evaluated the long-term cardiovascular complications among Korean patients with hypertension and compared them with that of controls without hypertension. @*Methods@#The Korean Hypertension Cohort (KHC) enrolled 11,043 patients with hypertension and followed them for more than 10 years. Age- and sex-matched controls without hypertension were enrolled at a 1:10 ratio. We compared the incidence of cardiovascular events and death among patients and controls without hypertension. @*Results@#The mean age was 59 years, and 34.8% and 16.5% of the patients belonged to the high and moderate cardiovascular risk groups, respectively. During the 10-year follow-up, 1,591 cardiovascular events (14.4%) with 588 deaths (5.3%) occurred among patients with hypertension and 7,635 cardiovascular events (6.9%) with 4,826 deaths (4.4%) occurred among controls. Even the low-risk population with hypertension showed a higher cardiovascular event rate than the population without hypertension. Although blood pressure measurements in the clinic showed remarkable inaccuracy compared with those measured in the national health examinations, systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 150 mmHg was significantly associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular events. @*Conclusions@#This long-term follow-up study confirmed the cardiovascular event rates among Korean hypertensive patients were substantial, reaching 15% in 10 years. SBP levels ≥ 150 mmHg were highly associated with occurrence of cardiovascular event rates.

RESUMO

Objective@#The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the Soma experiencing motion (Soma e-motion) program on interoceptive awareness and self-compassion among novices. @*Methods@#A total of 19 adults (clinical group=9, non-clinical group=10) participated in the intervention. Psychological and physical changes after program were qualitatively analyzed using in-depth interviews. The Korean Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness (K-MAIA) and the Korean version of the Self-Compassion Scale (K-SCS) were used as quantitative measures. @*Results@#The non-clinical group showed statistically significant differences in the K-MAIA scores (z=-2.805, p0.05; K-SCS: z=-0.178, p>0.05). According to the in-depth interviews, the results of the qualitative analysis were categorized into five dimensions (psychological and emotional, physical, cognitive, behavioral, and aspects participants found challenging and needs improvement). @*Conclusion@#The Soma e-motion program was feasible for improving interoceptive awareness and self-compassion in the non-clinical group. However, further research is needed to investigate the clinical efficacy of the Soma e-motion program for clinical group.

RESUMO

Objective@#The purpose of the present study was to identify adolescents’ suicide subgroups using five indicators (depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, and planned and attempted suicide), and explore the distinctive features of each subgroup. @*Methods@#This study included 2,258 teenagers from four schools. Both adolescents and their parents, who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, completed a series of self-reported questionnaires on depression, anxiety, suicide, self-harm, self-esteem, impulsivity, childhood maltreatment, and deviant behaviors. The data were analyzed using latent class analysis, a person-centered method. @*Results@#Four classes were detected: “high risk for suicide without distress,” “high risk for suicide with distress,” “low risk for suicide with distress,” and “healthy.” The “high risk for suicide with distress” class was the most severe on all evaluated psychosocial risk factors, namely, impulsivity, low self-esteem, self-harming behaviours, deviant behaviour problems, and childhood maltreatment, followed by “high risk for suicide without distress.” @*Conclusion@#This study identified two high risk subgroups for adolescent’ suicidality, “high risk for suicide with or without distress.” Both high risk subgroups for suicide showed higher scores for all psychosocial risk factors than low risk subgroups for suicide. Our findings suggest that special attention needs to be paid to the latent class “high risk for suicide without distress,” as this group’s “cry for help” might be relatively difficult to detect. Specific interventions for each group (e.g., distress safety plans for “suicidal potential with or without emotional distress”) need to be developed and implemented.
