RESUMO

Thymoquinone (TQ), one of the active components of Nigella sativa exhibited to have many biological effects. Several beneficial effects of TQ such as its antidiabetic, antioxidant, anticancer, hypolipidemic, and anti-inflammatory activities have been recognized. The present review focuses on the findings of recent studies on the protective effects of TQ against cardiovascular diseases. In the current review, we additionally concluded that TQ may be therapeutically effective agents for controlling diabetes and hyperlipidemia by decreasing the oxidative stress and inflammatory responses.

RESUMO

Curcumin (CUR), the main phenolic composition in turmeric, shows preventive effects in various diseases. CUR is commonly found in the Curcuma species and historically applied in herbal medicine. Numerous studies have indicated that CUR possesses protective effects against toxic agents in the various animal tissues including the brain. This study found that CUR may be effective in nervous system problems induced by neurotoxic agents. However, due to the lack of information on human, more investigations are needed to determine the efficacy of CUR as an antidote matter. The current study aimed to critically review the recent literature data from 2014 to 2016 that regarding the therapeutic aspects of CUR versus neurotoxic agents-induced brain damage and its involved mechanisms.

RESUMO

Introduction and Aims: despite the restrictions for the use of lead-containing compounds in industry and services, it remains one of the main agents to create acute and chronic poisoning, particularly in industrialized countries in the world

Materials and Methods: we searched all published articles from 1980 to 2014 by using of web search engine such as ISI Web of Science, Science direct, PubMed and Scholar Google

Results: several epidemiological studies indicate a possible role of this metal in exacerbation of asthma. Despite the development of therapeutic strategies for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in humans and animals, the disease has not subsided and remains a serious threat for human and animal health. Finding of the etiologic relationship between these diseases and intoxications occupational, environmental, and sustainability-environmental could be replaced progress therapeutic approaches with an advanced proactive approach to achieve substantial progress. A present review study has been conducted to investigate the experimental and epidemiological studies the effects of lead exposure on the occurrence of theattack of asthma

Conclusion: the results indicate that lead may cause increased airways responsiveness, pathological changes and inflammatory responses in victim

RESUMO

Oxidative stress mechanisms are involved in the embryotoxicity. The objective of this study was to assess hepatotoxicity of bisphenol-A [BPA] in chicken embryos. Fertile eggs were randomly divided into 4 groups; three experimental and one control groups, [N=15, for each group]. Embryos were administered 50, 100 and 200 PPM BPA, and incubated for 48 h at 37[degree]C with a relative humidity of 63%. The experiment was terminated on day 20 of incubation. Then, the embryos were decapitated and livers of embryos were collected for biochemical analysis. The total antioxidant capacity, alondialdehyde [MDA], glutathione [GSH], carotenoid and total protein levels were measured by spectrophotometer. The result of the present study indicated that the levels of total antioxidant in the livers of embryos exposed to 200 PPM BPA were higher than control and other groups, as well as the levels of MDA compared to control group [p<0.05]. The levels of GSH, total carotenoids and total protein were higher in all groups exposed to BPA than control group [p<0.05]. In addition, protein concentration in 200 PPM group was higher than of other groups [p<0.001]. So far, BPA may lead to induce toxic response of oxidative system in liver throughout embryonic period
