RESUMO

Object: - The aim of this study was comparison of the results of use of cyanoacrylate versus paraffin gauze dressing on split thickness skin graft donor site. Materials & Methods - This prospective study was conducted on 50 patients who were admitted in surgical wards in tertiary care hospital from December 2016 to July 2018 and underwent split skin grafting. Results- In our study we observed that in cyanoarylate group patients, homeostasis and healing were faster and itching and pain as well as hospital stay was less as compared to paraffin gauze group patients. Conclusion- Use of cyanoacrylate over donor site is very good in comparison with paraffin gauze dressing of donor site in respect to healing, homeostasis and time of hospital stay

RESUMO

Skin is considered to be the best covering of Human body. Because it interfaces with the environment, it plays an important immunity role in protecting the body against pathogens [1]. Skin performs many important and crucial functions of body, therefore loss of skin results in many complications. Because of which it is imperative to cover skin loss at the earliest. There are many options available to cover skin loss and one of the best and convenient methods is Split skin Grafting (SSG). However, SSG fails, if not fixed. If not fixed, mobilization of graft may occur leading to failed revascularization and then necrosis of graft. Therefore, it is mandatory to fix the split skin graft to donor site for its survival. Many techniques and materials have been used for fixation of split skin graft. Each has its merit and demerit. In this article, we present comparative study of effectiveness of fixation of SSG with sutures versus Cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) in choroidal neovasularisation (CNVM) secondary to age related macular degeneration (AMD). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective, non-randomized study of 28 eyes of 28 patients with subfoveal CNVM (classic, occult or mixed) secondary to AMD. RESULTS: Fifteen patients (53.57%) maintained their pre-treatment vision, 2 (7.14%) patients showed improvement of more than 2 lines and 11 (39.28%) patients showed deterioration of vision by >2 lines. Angiographic and clinical regression of CNVM was noted in 19 patients (67.8%) on an average follow up of 15.32 +/- 3.31 months. CONCLUSION: TTT leads to stabilisation of vision in 60% of treated eyes with CNVM due to AMD.
