RESUMO

The excessive fear of being fat can make owns self-image distorted and can signal an emotional illness that often results in eating disorders with serious health problems. Gastro-esophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is one of these eating disorders. It is a relatively common condition, in which stomach acid may be refluxed up through the esophagus and into the oral cavity, resulting in tooth structure chemical erosion. Dental expertise may be essential in distinguishing between differential diagnoses between mechanical or chemical etiology. Successful treatment of this medical condition is necessary to enhance the prognosis of the complete mouth rehabilitation. In this article, the complete mouth rehabilitation of the post orthodontic clinical situation of a patient with generalized dental erosion secondary to GERD is presented in details

RESUMO

Ectodermal dysplasia is a rare, hereditary, congenital disease that affects the normal development of certain tissues and structures of ectodermal origin. The disease is manifested in different degrees of severity and may involve the nose, eyes, hair, nails, sweat glands and enamel of the teeth. This report presents the case of a 5-year-old patient with Ectodermal dysplasia, rehabilitated with a maxillary overdenture and a mandibular complete denture. Such a treatment had a great impact on the patient's esthetics, function and self-esteem
