RESUMO
A case of massive intraventricular hemorrhage [IVH] due to von Willebrand's disease [vWd] in a term neonate is presented. Von Willebrand's disease, in general, is a mild bleeding disorder which rarely manifests in the newbom but vWd type three can cause serious problems even in the neonatal period. The literature on vWd type three and intraventricular hemorrhage in term neonates is reviewed and the inheritance, diagnosis and management is discussed in brief. This case illustrates the need to consider vWd type three as a cause of serious bleeding in the neonatal period
