RESUMO

Objective To study the effects of operation time of durotomy on acute spinal cord contusion. Methods Spinal cord contusion models were established in SD rats at T 9 by NYU-Ⅱ impactor.Durotomy was performed immediately(group C),1 h(group D),6 h(group E)and 12 h(group F)after spinal cord contusion, respectively.Rats in group B did not receive durotomy.Open-field locomotor function was evaluated using the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan(BBB)locomotor rating scale at days 1,3,7,14,21 and 28 after injury in order to compare damage degree of the spinal cord.The percentage of cavity volume(CV%)and lesion length were calculated by"Imagej"software using serial sections stained by hematoxylin/eosin(HE).Results The BBB score in groups C and D was significantly better than that in group B(P < 0.01);CV% and lesion length were significantly lower than those in group B(P<0.01).The BBB score was higher in group E than in group B(P<0.05),but lower than in groups C and D.Similarly,CV% was lower than that in group B(P<0.05),but higher than that in groups C and D(P<0.05).No difference was found between groups F and B in the BBB score,CV%or lesion length(P>0.05).Conclusion Decompressive durotomy improved motor function recovery and reduced the damage of the spinal cord in the setting of a thoracic spinal cord contusion injury in SD rats within 6 h after injury.Durotomy 12 h after injury does not affect function outcomes or spinal cord injury after injury.

OBJECTIVE@#To study the clinical pathologic characteristics of β-catenin, Ki67 and Her-2/neu in gastric cancer and the correlation of β-catenin and Ki67 to the protein expression and gene conditions of Her-2/Neu.@*METHODS@#The protein expression of β-catenin, Ki67 and Her-2/Neu was detected by immunohistochemistry in 101 cases of gastric cancer and the gene conditions of Her-2/Neu by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).@*RESULTS@#The protein expression of β-catenin, Ki67 and Her-2/Neu had close relationship with the clinical pathologic characteristics of gastric cancer. The β-catenin and Ki67 had obvious correlation to the differentiation, infiltration and lymphatic metastasis of the gastric cancer (P<0.05). The Ki67 had close relationship with the tumor-node-metastasis staging staging of gastric cancer (P<0.05). Her-2/Neu had close relationship with the differentiation and tumor-node-metastasis staging of gastric cancer (P<0.05) but had no relationship with the infiltration and lymphatic metastasis of the gastric cancer (P<0.05). The protein expression of Ki67 had significantly positive correlation to the protein expression and gene amplification conditions of Her-2/Neu (r=0.567, P<0.05 for protein; r=0.304, P<0.05 for gene).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Combined detection of β-catenin, Ki67 and Her-2/Neu can be used as a reliable method to help the observation of biological behavior, diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer, and Ki67 can be used to serve the preliminary screening of Her-2/Neu gene state.

·AIM: To improve our understanding of retinoschisis at the macular area.·METHODS: From January 2003 to January 2005, the patients whose macular retinoschisis was confirmed by optical coherence tomography (OCT) were included in the study. Their data and other results were further analyzed.·RESULTS: During that period, macular retinoschisis was found in 116 eyes which fit the including criteria. Among these, 94 eyes were pathological myopia; 17 were X-linked congenital retinoschisis; and 5 had excavation of optic disk.By analyzing the OCT figures, it was found that retinoschisis could happen at many locations within retinal neural epithelium, including inner, middle and outer part. The retinoschisis caused by different reasons differs in OCT results.·CONCLUSION: Retinoschisis at the macular area was not rare at the clinic, and the retinoschisis may be located at different parts of the retina. OCT was useful in the diagnosis and follow-up of macular retinoschisis.
