RESUMO

PURPOSE: The usability, user satisfaction, and impact of electronic nursing record (ENR) systems were investigated. METHODS: This mixed-method research was performed as a time-motion (TM) study and a survey which were carried out at six hospitals between August and November 2013. The TM study involved 108 nurses from medical, surgical, and intensive care units at each hospital, plus an additional 48 nurses who served as nonparticipating observers. In the survey, 1879 volunteer nurses completed the Impact of ENR Systems Scale, the System Usability Scale, and a global satisfaction scale. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were performed. RESULTS: The mean scores for the ENR impact, system usability, and satisfaction were 4.28 (out of 6), 58.62 (out of 100), and 74.31 (out of 100), respectively, and they differed significantly between hospitals (F=43.43, p<.001, F=53.08 and p<.001, and F=29.13 and p<.001, respectively). A workflow fragmentation assessment revealed different patterns of ENR system use among the included hospitals. Three user characteristics-educational background, practice period, and experience of using paper records-significantly affected the system usability and satisfaction scores. CONCLUSION: The system quality varied widely among the ENR systems. The generally low-to-moderate levels of system usability and user satisfaction suggest many opportunities for improvement.

RESUMO

We identified a gene for beta-1,3-glucan synthesis (GBG1), a nonessential gene whose disruption alters cell wall synthesis enzyme activities and cell wall composition. This gene was cloned by functional complementation of defects in beta-1,3-glucan synthase activity of the the previously isolated Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant LP0353, which displays a number of cell wall defects at restrictive temperature. Disruption of the GBG1 gene did not affect cell viability or growth rate, but did cause alterations in cell wall synthesis enzyme activities: reduction of beta-1,3-glucan synthase and chitin synthase III activities as well as increased chitin synthase I and II activities. GBG1 disruption also showed altered cell wall composition as well as susceptibility toward cell wall inhibitors such as Zymolyase, Calcofluor white, and Nikkomycin Z. These results indicate that GBG1 plays a role in cell wall biogenesis in S. cerevisiae

RESUMO

The purposes of this study were to identify the effects of the Nursing Information System on time of the direct and indirect nursing activities, the frequencies of verbal and telephone order, the number of cases and patient's treatments fees before and after NIS. 10 nursing units in the S.N.U.H. were se lected. The data were colle cted for 6 month prior and pa st to NIS. The frequencies of verbal and telephone order were reported from staff nurses for 3 days. The numbers of cases and fees of patient's treatments were taken for 3 month before and after NIS. The results of this study were as follows: 1. 66.9% of participants said direct nursing activities were increased. Any changed nursing performances were patients education, nursing rounds, care of patient's hygiene, care for patient's movements, oral and tracheal suctioning, changing position, and feeding. 2. The difference of amount of time of dir ect and indirect nursing activities 1)There was 14 minutes increase indirect,4 minutes decrease in indirect. 2)NA's activities we re increased by 30minute in direct, decreased by 16 minute in indirect. 3. The frequency of telephone order decreased 16 and verbal order decreased 46 per day. 4. The difference of the number of patient treatment case before and after NIS was increased 9,907 per 3 months and of fees for patient treatment was increased 797,811,067 won per 3 months.
