RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of n-hexane subchronic exposure on the serum level of neuron specific enolase(NSE), neurofilament light chain protein(NF-L) and nerve growth factor(NGF) in rat, and to explore the feasibility of using NSE, NF-L and NGF as biomarkers of n-hexane neurotoxicity. METHODS: Specific pathogen free male SD rats were randomly divided into control group and low-, medium-and high-dose exposure groups, with 6 rats in each group. Rats in the low-, medium-and high-dose exposure groups were given n-hexane solution at doses of 168, 675 and 2 700 mg/kg body mass, respectively, while rats in the control group were gavaged with 0.9% sodium chloride solution, once a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks. At week 0, 2, 4, and 6 of exposure, the body mass of the rats was weighed, the gait scores were performed, and the serum levels of NSE, NF-L, and NGF were detected.RESULTS: Body mass, gait score and serum levels of NSE and NF-L in rats were statistically significant in terms of the n-hexane exposure dose and exposure time(P<0.01). At the 6 th week of n-hexane exposure, the body mass of the three dose exposure groups was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05), and the gait score was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Moreover, the abnormal gait of the rats showed a dose-effect relationship with the increasing n-hexane poisoning dose. At week 2, 4 and 6, the serum levels of NSE and NF-L in these three dose exposure groups were higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). In addition, the serum level of NF-L in rats in the medium-and high-dose exposure groups increased with the n-hexane exposure time increasing and showed a time-effect relationship(P<0.05). The level of serum NGF in rats was statistically significant in the main effects of n-hexane dose and duration of exposure(P<0.05). The serum NGF level in the high-dose exposure group was lower than that in the control group, the low-dose and medium-dose exposure groups(P<0.05). NGF level in serum of rats at week 6 was lower than that at week 0, 2 and 4(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Both NSE and NF-L in serum can be used as biomarkers for the early effect of n-hexane on peripheral nerve injury. The feasibility of using serum NGF as a biomarker for the early effect of n-hexane on peripheral nerve injury warrants further investigation.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the methods for solving the neck two-point T2-DIXON fat-water separation misalignment. Methods During August 2015 to July 2016, 140 patients with fat-water separation on the nasopharynx and cervical axial T2-DIXON images were prospectively recruited from Sichuan Cancer Hospital. There was no metal implant in the fat-water separation misalignment area. The patients were divided into 7 groups by random number table method with 20 patients in each group for the axial T2-DIXON scan: Group A adopted plan 1( increasing localized shim box on the fat-water separation misalignment area);Group B adopted plan 2(increasing the times of repeated acquisition to 2 of the T2-DIXON sequence);Group C adopted plan 3 (placing the shimming assist device on the inspection area);Group D adopted plan 1+plan 2;Group E adopted plan 1+plan 3;Group F adopted plan 2+plan 3;Group G adopted plan 1+plan 2+plan 3. The images quality of two scans were graded and compared. We compared the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of T2-DIXON image on the same muscle tissue between the two scans of each group. The difference of SNR on the two scan images was compared with the paired t test, the difference of SNR among seven groups was conducted with independent sample t test, and the comparison of image quality classification was conducted by rank sum test. Results The image quality of all the seven groups was improved to some different degrees. The cases with image quality reaching level 3 were 12, 15, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 18 in A to G groups, respectively. It was better to use the combination of two or more methods to improve the quality of the image than to use a single method. There were no statistically significant differences in SNR between two scans in A, C and E group (all P>0.05).There were statistically significant differences in SNR between two scans in groups of B, D, F and G(all P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences among the 7 groups, with the best quality in G group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the first SNR among the 7 groups (P>0.05);there were significant differences in the second scans among the 7 groups (P<0.05) .Conclusions This study suggests that placing localized shim box, increasing the times of repeated acquisition, and use of shimming assist device in MRI correct the fat-water separation misalignment, help to provide images with high quality. The combination of the above method was better than using the single method. The SNR can be improved when increasing the times of repeated acquisition.

RESUMO

PurposeTo probe into the feasibility of small field of view intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) MRI in the grading of cervical cancer before surgery.Materials and Methods Twenty-three patients with cervical cancer confirmed pathologically underwent preoperative conventional MRI and IVIM sequence scan [IVIM sequence included 10 b value (0-1500 s/mm2)]. Based on postoperative pathological cell morphology the patients were divided into well differentiated group (10 cases) and moderately or poorly differentiated group (13 cases). Then the parameters such as the ADC standard, D value, D* value and f value were calculated in each group according to double exponential function analysis. The data in the two groups were compared and nonparametric test to see whether they had normal distribution. Results Compared with the well differentiated group, the moderately or poorly differentiated group had statistically lower ADC standard value and D value (t=140.5 and 129.5,P0.05).Conclusion Small field of view IVIM MRI is feasible in predicting the differentiation of tumor in the preoperative grading of cervical cancer.

RESUMO

In 1999, the nomenclature and case definitions for neuropsychiatric lupus syndromes were published by American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and the cognition of neuropsychiatric damage of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was gradually unified and standardized. Lupus headache is an intractable problem in SLE, especially in SLE patients complicated with multiple organ injury. In general, vascular headache is common in most SLE patients, and a small number of SLE patients complicated with nervous headache are found in clinic. Moreover, its pathophysiological mechanism is far from being understood. Although early diagnosis is essential for good outcomes, the diagnosis method is rather confused in the world. There still exist some limitations in the proposal of clinical classification of headache from ACR and International Headache Society (IHS), and the proposal does not mention the classification of headache related to psychiatric damage. Current therapeutic regimens are almost exclusively based on empirical evidence. Treatment approaches include symptomatic treatment, immunosuppressive, anticoagulant and anti-aggregant therapies. It provides enormous and hopeful space in research of combined therapy strategy, especially in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. The authors discussed the relationship between lupus headache and headache due to internal injury in the view of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and suggested that the treatment strategy for lupus headache should be made in argument with the headache due to internal injury. Syndrome differentiation treatment according to deficiency in the root and excess in the branch and the therapy for activating blood to dredge collaterals maybe have great advantages in treatment of the headache in SLE.
