Perilla frutescens: A traditional medicine and food homologous plant / 中草药·英文版

Perilla frutescens, an annual herb of the Labiatae family, has been cultivated in China for more than 2000 years. P. frutescens is the one of the first medicinal and edible plant published by the Ministry of Health. Its leaves, stems and seeds can be used as medicine and edible food. Because of the abundant nutrients and bioactive components in this plant, P. frutescens has been studied extensively in medicine, food, health care and chemical fields with great prospects for development. This paper reviews the cultivation history, chemical compositions and pharmacological activities of P. frutescens, which provides a reference for the development and utilization of P. frutescens resources.

correlation between the glycated hemoglobin [HbA1c] in nondiabetics and cardiovascular risk factors

This study aimed to discuss the relativity between the glycated hemoglobin [HbA1c] in non-diabetics and cardiovascular risk factors and definite the significance of predicting the cardiovascular risk factors through crosssectional research method. There were 2007 cases volunteers [including 650 cases of male, 1357 cases of female] from city community with complete information involved in the research of diabetes. The value of HbA1c 6.5% was set as the diagnose boundary of the diabetes. Differences were considered to be statistically significant at P<0.05. Hypertension, dyslipidemi, being overweight or obesity, age [male was over 45 years old and female was over 55 years old.], HbA1c 6.0% and fasting blood glucose [FBG] 6.1mmol/L were regarded as cardiovascular risk factors. Then we analyzed the number of risk factors for individuals in different HbA1c groups. Meanwhile, patients were grouped into zero, one, two, three, four or more groups with reference to the number of risk factors they had in order to compare the values of risk factors in different groups through Logistic regression. The results showed that [1] For those people who had no less than three risk factors, the frequency of risk factors was on the rise with the increase of HbA1c levels. [2] The value of HbA1c in different groups of risk factors rose with the increasing number of risk factors. There was a significant difference [P<0.001] between groups. [3] The Regression analysis showed that there was a stronger correlation between HbA1c levels and impaired glucose tolerance [IGT], fasting blood glucose[FBG] rather than age. So Non -diabetics whose HbA1c levels ranged from 6.0% to 6.5% were at high risk of cardiovascular risk factors. HbA1c levels, which can be a prediction index for cardiovascular risk factors dependent from other cardiovascular risk factors for non-diabetics, and it were highly relevant with impaired glucose tolerance [IGT] and impaired fasting blood glucose [FBG]

Relation between the loneliness levels and cognitive deviation of medical students and its influ-encing factors / 中华医学教育探索杂志

Objective To examine the interrelation between the cognitive deviation and loneli-ness levels of medical students and its influencing factors. Methods Totally 220 medical students in grade two of one medical school were selected by method of cluster random sampling. The data of the research were obtained through cognitive bias questionnaire (CBQ) and emotional-social loneliness questionnaire. Interrelation between the cognitive deviation type and condition of emotional-social lone-liness of medical students were analyzed by Pearson product-moment correlation two-tailed test. Multi-ple stepwise regression analysis was conducted by taking score of emotional-social loneliness as de-pendent variable and score of CBQ as independent variable. Differences in cognitive deviation and loneliness levels between rural and urban students as well as between students from single child family and students from non single child family were analyzed by independent-sample t test. Results Neg-ative cognitive deviation of depression-distortion type was positively correlated with medical students' emotional isolation (r=0.161, P=0.021),social isolation (r=0.266,P=0.000), emotional loneliness (r=0.340, P=0.000) and social loneliness (r=0.385, P=0.000). The regression equation was: score of emotional-social loneliness=27.165+1.908 (depression-distortion)+0.836 (depression-non distortion).Students from non single child family had higher scores than students from single child family in the perspectives of depression-distortion”(P=0.017), social isolation(P=0.001), emotional loneliness(P=0.016), social loneliness(P=0.000). Rural students had higher scores in the above four perspectives than urban students(P<0.05). Conclusions Negative cognitive deviation levels of medical students is positively correlated with emotion and social isolation conditions and loneliness experiences. Regres-sion analysis shows that unhealthy cognitive disposition and thinking mode probably are one of the im-portant reasons leading to medical students' stress disorder. Students from single child family and rural area may experience social loneliness more deeply and students from single child family have obvious cognitive deviation.

Objective To discuss the personality characteristic and personal social attributes of junior middle school students of online violent games addictive disorder (VOGAD).Methods From August to December at 2008,6000 students were randomly drown from 8 junior middle schools in Dalian ,then they were investigated with the self-made internet game survey form and the Chen internet addiction scale (CLAS).149( 2.5% ) internet game addicts were screen out from 6000 students, and were divided into the violence and entertainment game addicted group ( 66 students in per group,and the male is 55, female is 11 ).Average age was ( 14.36 ± 0.81 ) years old.No-play game group 66 students were mach according to the sex and the age.All objects were evaluated with Eysenck personality questionnaire (EPQ) and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory Abbreviation Form (MMPI-AF).Results There were significant different during the 3 groups in psychoticism (50.60 ± 5.10;50.40 ± 6.30; 46.81 ± 4.62 ), neuroticism ( 51.74 ± 5.70; 49.03 ± 6.85; 49.25 ± 6.09 ) , manifest anxiety (55.29 ±9.58;45.11 ±8.31; 43.24 ±8.32) ,dependence (58.90 ±9.09; 55.97 ±8.63; 54.05 ± 11.39) ,and social responsibility ( 37.47 ± 12.41; 43.25 ± 11.24 ;46.34 ± 14.37 ) (F1-5 = 10.32,3.83,36.17,4.11,8.23; P 1-5 ＜ 0.05 ).Except of the social responsibility (P＞ 0.05 ) ,above results all suggested higher scores in the VOGAD group than other two groups (P1 ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusion The results suggest higher scores in the psychoticism, neuroticism, dependency, manifest anxiety in VOGAD group, and lower Re in online violence game addict students.

Experimental study on the cell apoptosis induced by hyper thermia in human gallbladder carcinoma GBC-SD cells / 中国现代普通外科进展

Objective: To study the effect of hyperthermia treatment on apoptosis of human gallbladder carcinoma cell line GBC-SD.Methods: Human cultured gallbladder carcinoma cell GBC-SD in vitro was heated for 1 hour at 40℃ and 43℃.Then 6h、12h、20h later GBC-SD cells were collected,respectively.The morphologic character was observed under the microscope,the biological character was ascertained by DNA electrophoresis,the percentage of the cell apoptosis and the alteration of cell cycle were detected by flow cytometry.Results: After 1 hour heated at 43℃,gallbladder carcinoma GBC-SD cells occurred the most obvious apoptosis in 12h and 20h.Typical apoptotic bodies appeared,and DNA Ladder was demonstrated on DNA electrophoresis.Apoptotic peak and the change of cell cycle were tested by the flow cytometry.Conclusion:One hour moderate hyperthermia treatment at 43℃ is the effective heat-dosage to induce human gallbladder carcinoma GBC-SD cell apoptosis. Analysis of the Heart Rate Variability of Normal Young Men in the Process of EMG Biofeedback / 中国心理卫生杂志

Objective: To explore the change of activities of the cardiac autonomic nervous system in the EMG biofeedback with the quantified index of heart rate variability(HRV). Methods: Various physiological signals such as ECG、EEG、EMG were recorded by Synchronous Multi-Signal Recording Biofeedback System, and HRV analysis was applied to the extracted ECG signals. Thirty healthy young men received the tests. Results:Compared with the resting state, when the subjects entered biofeedback state, the values of low frequency power, indicator of the sympathetic activity decreased while the values of high frequency power (indicator of the vagal activity) increased, and the values of low frequency power/high frequency power ratio, the marker of the sympatho-vagal balance decreased too.
