RESUMO

The most prevalent of dysfunctional gastrointestinal disorders is irritable bowel syndrome [IBS] which affects more than 50% of patients. The aim of the present study was to compare five personality factors related to mental health between patients of IBS and healthy population in Ahvaz clinics of digestive diseases. Our studied population consisted of 72 patients and 72 healthy people derived from retinue of patients. All patients were clinically investigated by a gastroenterologist for IBS. Psychological variables were evaluated in two groups by the NEO-FFI and GHQ. Differences between two groups were significant in neuroticism, openness, and agreeableness. Scores of neuroticism in patients were significantly higher [P<0.001], whereas scores of openness and agreeableness were lower [was this Significant, P<0.05]. However, in terms of openness there was significant differences between both groups. [P<0.001]. There is a relationship between personality traits and health. Some of personality traits such as neuroticism, agreeableness and openness were found to be related to IBS

Todays, The etiology of binge eating has not been definitively determined. Treatment must address the somatic, the behavioral, and the psychological problems. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior group therapy on reducing symptoms of binge eating disorder in woman of Ahvaz overeating anonymous. Subjects were consisted of 30 patients with binge eating disorder that were selected from overeating anonymous. Sampling was convenience then patients who were diagnosed with binge scale and clinical interview, were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received 6 weekly sessions of cognitive behavior group therapy that the control group did not received. It was hypothesized that cognitive behavior group therapy decrease the symptoms of binge eating disorder of the experimental group as compared with the control group. The binge scale was administered to both groups before and after treatment. SPSS 16 software was used for data analysis The results of covariance analysis showed that cognitive behavior group therapy significantly reduced the symptoms of binge eating [F=107.16, p<0.001] in the experimental group as compared with the control group. This study showed that cognitive behavior therapy is effective on reducing symptoms of binge eating, and this method can be one of the treatment choices for this disorder considered by the therapist

This study aimed at investigating the simple and multiple relationships between personality traits and addiction potential in university students. Three hundred and forty two students were selected by cluster sampling from the Shahid Chamran University [Iran]. The scales used for this descriptive study were NEO-FFI personality inventory and Iranian Addiction Potential Scale [IAPS]. To analyze the data, we used descriptive and inferential statistic test via spss-13. There were simple and multiple relationships between personality traits and addiction potential. Multiple regression analysis [stepwise method[showed that neuroticism, conscientiousness and agreeableness had significant multiple correlation with addiction potential [F=32.89, P<0.001]. The components of openness and extroversion eliminated from regression. Personality traits predicted addiction potential in university students. The most important suggestion of this research was to pay attention scientifically to personality characters as a fundamental factor of this difficulty, rather than just emphasizing on the cessation of drug or alcohol using
