RESUMO

Malignant transformation arising in benign lymphoepithelial cysts is a complex and rare occurrence, and related research is limited. This study presents a case of the malignant degeneration of lymphoepithelial cyst in parapharyngeal space. Clinicopathological features and differential diagnosis are discussed with literature review to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment management.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#To analyze the clinicopathological features of maxillofacial granular cell tumors (GCT) with the aid of immunohistochemical staining.@*METHODS@#Seven cases of maxillofacial GCT were retrospectively collated, and the microscopic morphology of maxillofacial GCT was analyzed. The expression of S-100, neuron-specific enolase (NSE), SOX-10, CD68, actin, desmin, and Ki-67 in GCT was detected by immunohistochemical staining. The cases were observed in the follow-ups after clinical treatment.@*RESULTS@#All seven GCT tumors lacked envelopes and were poorly defined. Microscopically, the sizes of the tumor cells were large and appeared with inconspicuous cell membranes, forming a syncytium-like appearance. The cytoplasm was filled with characteristic eosinophilic granules. The immunohistochemical results showed that six cases were NSE-positive, five cases were S-100-positive, seven cases were CD68-positive, five cases were SOX-10-positive, one case was actin-positive, and seven cases were desmin-negative. The Ki-67 index did not exceed 5% in all cases. In the follow-up sessions, none of the six cases presented a recurrence.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Maxillofacial GCT has a characteristic histological structure. Immunohistochemical S-100, CD68, and other indicators can assist in diagnosis, and the prognosis is good after clinical resection.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate relationship between microRNA-200c and ZEB1 in cervical epithelial mesenchymal transition factor. Methods 50 cases diagnosed with cervical cancer whose tumor tissue were taken to be the experiment group.50 cases diagnosed with uterine myoma whose normal tissue were taken to be the control group.ZEB1 and microRNA-200c of uterine tissue were were detected. Results The average level of ZEB1 in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), and in cervical cancer, lymph node metastasis and the depth of myometrial invasion had statistically significant (P<0.05).In experimental group, microRNA-200c average was lower than control group (P<0.05), and in cervical cancer, different pathological grade group, lymph node metastasis and deep muscular layer infiltration had statistically significant(P<0.05).In experimental group, ZEB1 and microRNA-200c showed negative correlation(r =-0.270 P =0.001).Conclusion The expression level of ZEB1 in cervical cancer is higher, and the expression level of microRNA-200c in cervical cancer is lower, suggesting that the two factors may play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of cervical cancer. The correlation between the two factors suggests that microRNA-200c may be involved in the process of cervical cancer by ZEB1.

RESUMO

Ossifying fibromyxoid tumor is an uncommon neoplasm with uncertain histogenesis. This tumor is usually characterized by a small, painless mass in the subcutaneous tissue or limb muscles. In this case, an ossifying fibromyxoid tumor of the mandible was reported, and relevant literature was reviewed.

RESUMO

Implants have been widely used in restorative treatment for patients who have undergone head and neck cancer surgery. With the development of combination treatment of head and neck cancer, radiotherapy has been a common means of therapy. However, it could induce various changes in hard and soft tissues and reduce the success and survival rate of the implants. Some research, using either animal models or clinical studies, have shown that certain strategies could be used for improving the survival rate of implants. In this review, we discussed the changes in both hard and soft tissues, which may reduce the survival rate of the implants, and the proposed methods for improving the survival rate of patients after radiotherapy.
