RESUMO

Population-based cancer registration data were collected to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in Wuwei, Hexi Corridor Region, China in 2018. We used the 2011-2013 data to predict the number of new cases and deaths in 2018 and the 2003-2013 data to analyze trends in cancer incidence and mortality. The goal is to enable cancer prevention and control directions. Our results indicated that stomach cancer is the most common cancer. For all cancers combined, the incidence and mortality rates showed significantly increasing trends (+2.63% per year; P < 0.05 and +1.9% per year; P < 0.05). This study revealed a significant cancer burden among the population of this area. Cancer screening and prevention should be performed after an epidemiological study of the cause of the cancer is completed.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo explore the mechanisms of aluminum (Al)-induced neurotoxicity by studying the effect of aluminum on lipid peroxidation in rat's brain and its sex related difference.

METHODSForty SD rats, both male and female, were exposed to aluminum through intraperitoneal injection of AlCl3 solution for 60 days at different dose. After exposure, the step down test was performed to examine the learning and memory abilities of rats, and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) in rat's cerebrum were detected by chemical method. The changes of ultrastructure in cortex were observed by transmission electron microscopy.

RESULTSThe differences between the changes of all indexes of female and male rats in the same dose-group wasn't statistically significant (P > 0.05). Compared with the rats in the control group, the learning and memory abilities of the Al-exposed rats were significantly decreased (P < 0.05). The content of MDA was increased (P < 0.01) while the activity of SOD was decreased (P < 0.05). The membrane structure of neurons in cerebrum cortex of the Al-exposed rats were broken, dissolved and gone.

CONCLUSIONAluminum can accelerate lipid peroxidation in rat's brain, which may be one of the important intoxication mechanisms of aluminum. However, the sex-related difference of this effect have not yet been observed.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the changes of lead, zinc, copper, iron and calcium in blood of chronic poisoned infantal mice.(Methods) Forty-eight 21 day-old kunzea mice were randomly divided into 4 groups, each having 12 mice.Distilled water group was as control group and other three lead acetate poisoning groups had a dose of 10,20,40 mg/kg,respectively.The poisoning was carried out by lavage once a day,and consecutively for 46 days.Eyeballs of mice were picked then for blood sampling, and BS trace element analysis grapher was used to determine level of lead, zinc, copper and iron.Level of calcium was measured by Dimentional-RXL auto-biochemistry analysis meter. Results The lead and zinc levels in poisoned mice blood were increased with increasing lead acetate level administration, while zinc level changed inversely with lead acetate level.Significant differences were shown among control group and poisoning groups in terms of lead(P0.05).Conclusion Lead posioning can lead to zinc decreasing and copper(increa)-sing,which suggests that zinc works as a poential antidote of lead poisoning.
