Objective:To explore the characteristics of postoperative hemodynamic changes in patients with early allograft dysfunction (EAD), and to provide clinical imaging support for the early diagnosis of EAD.Methods:A total of 907 patients who underwent liver transplantation in Tianjin First Central Hospital from December 2012 to June 2021 were retrospectively selected, and they were divided into EAD group (361 cases) and non-EAD group (546 cases) according to EAD diagnostic criteria. The peak systolic velocity(PSV) of the hepatic artery, end-diastolic velocity(EDV) of the hepatic artery, resistance index(RI), S/D(PSV/EDV), diameter of the portal vein(PVD), velocity of the portal vein(PVV), diameter of the middle hepatic vein(MHVD), velocity of the middle hepatic vein(MHVV), the diameter of the right hepatic vein(RHVD), and the velocity of the right hepatic vein (RHVV) were collected from 1 to 7 days after operation (a total of 5 573 ultrasound examination results), and the differences in ultrasound hemodynamic parameters were compared between the two groups. The correlation of S/D<2, PSV<25 cm/s, PVV<15 cm/s, MHVV or RHVV<15 cm/s within 3 days after operation with the occurence of EAO were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression analysis.Results:①The PSV and EDV of the hepatic artery in the EAD group and the non-EAD group showed a slow upward trend at 1-7 days after operation, while the hepatic artery RI and PVV showed a downward trend, the MHVV and RHVV did not fluctuate significantly. ②The hepatic artery in the EAD group showed low-resistance blood flow in the early postoperative period, and the EDV were significantly higher than that in the non-EAD group on 1 d, 2 d, 3 d and 5 d, RI was significantly lower than that of the non-EAD group (all P<0.05); At 4 d, 6 d and 7 d, there was no significant differences of EDV and RI between the two groups(all P>0.05). The PSV of the EAD group was higher than that of the non-EAD group on 3 d ( P<0.05). Among the parameters of portal vein blood flow, the PVV in the EAD group was significantly higher than that in the non-EAD group on 1 d ( P<0.05), and there was no significant difference of PVD between the two groups at day 1-7. Among the parameters of hepatic venous blood flow, the MHVV and RHVV in the EAD group were significantly lower than those in the non-EAD group (all P<0.05), there was no significant difference between the two groups of MHVD and RHVD at 1-7 days. ③The incidence of grafted hepatic artery S/D<2 within 3 days after operation in EAD group was higher than that in non-EAD group. Binary Logistic regression multivariate analysis showed that the occurrence of grafted hepatic artery S/D<2 within 3 days after operation was significantly correlated with the occurrence of EAD[Exp(B)=1.878, P<0.05]. Conclusions:Patients who develop EAD after liver transplantation show low-resistance blood flow in the hepatic artery during the perioperative period, and the occurrence of hepatic artery S/D<2 within 3 days after operation can early predict the occurrence of EAD.

Aim To explore the effects of carvedilol on atherogenesis in mice. Methods Eight-week-old ApoE mice were placed on an atherogenic chow and randomly divided into control and carvedilol group. The mice in both groups were intraperitoneally administered with vehicle or carvedilol 12. 5 mg • kg once daily, respectively. After 10 weeks, histopathological alterations of brachiocephalic trunk, liver, pancreas and adipose tissues were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin and oil red 0 staining, the level of blood glucose, blood lipids, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) , alanine aminotransferase ( ALT) , and liver fatty acid P-oxidase were determined, and glucose tolerance/insulin tolerance tests were performed as well. In addition , hepatic mRNA and protein expression of ACAD10 and mTOR were detected by real-time PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results Compared with the control group, the area of atherosclerotic plaque ( P < 0. 01 ) and intima-to-media ratio ( P < 0. 05) in the carvedilol group all significantly de- creased , aortic damages were obviously improved, glucose and insulin tolerance were remarkably enhanced; moreover, HDL-C concentration in serum increased (P <0. 05) . Notably, HE and oil red 0 staining revealed that carvedilol almost completely reversed hepatic steatosis, increased liver fatty acid beta oxidase levels (P < 0. 01 ) , along with the reduction in ALT (P < 0. 01 ) and AST (P <0. 01) levels, even improvement of pancreatic and adipose impairments in ApoE mice. In carvedilol group, the mRNA (P <0. 01) and protein expression levels (P <0. 05) of ACAD10 were significantly up-regulated, while mTOR was significantly down-regulated compared with that in the control group (P <0. 01). Conclusions Our results indicate that carvedilol regulates mTOR and ACAD10 in liver, which may contribute to the alleviation of fatty liver, and even atherogenesis.

RESUMO

The global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had a massive impact on global social and economic development and human health. By combining traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with modern medicine, the Chinese government has protected public health by supporting all phases of COVID-19 prevention and treatment, including community prevention, clinical treatment, control of disease progression, and promotion of recovery. Modern medicine focuses on viruses, while TCM focuses on differential diagnosis of patterns associated with viral infection of the body and recommends the use of TCM decoctions for differential treatment. This differential diagnosis and treatment approach, with its profoundly empirical nature and holistic view, endows TCM with an accessibility advantage and high application value for dealing with COVID-19. Here, we summarize the advantage of and evidence for TCM use in COVID-19 prevention and treatment to draw attention to the scientific value and accessibility advantage of TCM and to promote the use of TCM in response to public health emergencies. Objective:To obtain the normal reference range of ultrasound hemodynamic parameters after liver transplantation through big data query and statistical analysis, and to analyze its influencing factors.Methods:The clinical liver transplantation Ultrasound Image Database Software V1.0 developed by Tianjin First Center Hospital was used to query adult patients after liver transplantation from December 2012 to June 2021. The ultrasonic hemodynamic parameters including the diameter of portal vein (PVD), the flow velocity of portal vein (PVV), the peak flow velocity of hepatic artery (S), the end diastolic flow velocity of hepatic artery (D), the S/D of hepatic artery, the resistance index of hepatic artery (RI), the diameter of middle hepatic vein (MHVD), the flow velocity of middle hepatic vein (MHVV), the diameter of right hepatic vein (RHVD), the flow velocity of right hepatic vein (RHVV), in the first day (1D), the seventh day (7D), the first month (1M), the sixth month (6M), the first year (1Y), the fifth year (5Y) and the tenth year (10Y) after operation were analyzed statistically, and the 95% reference value range of each parameter was obtained.Results:A total of 1 740 patients with 12 242 monitoring results after adult liver transplantation were included, and the longest follow-up time was 22 years. There was no significant change in PVD. PVV decreased slightly from postoperative 1D to long-term follow-up. The S and D of hepatic artery were the highest in group 7D after liver transplantation, and then decreased gradually with the extension of postoperative time. Hepatic artery S/D was the lowest in group 7D after operation, with the extension of monitoring time after liver transplantation, it showed an upward trend, but fluctuated. Hepatic artery RI was the highest in postoperative 1D group, and fluctuated with the extension of monitoring time after liver transplantation. There was no significant change in MHVD and RHVD.MHVV and RHVV were the highest in group 7D after liver transplantation, with the extension of postoperative monitoring time, they showed a decreasing trend and fluctuated. The normal range of each parameter was estimated according to the range of 95% medical reference value. The influencing factors of blood flow monitoring of transplanted liver were analyzed, including the various factors in perioperative period, the surgery, the primary disease before operation, the source of donor, the postoperative infection, rejection, drug damage, individual differences and so on.Conclusions:This study obtains the trend of each parameter with the extension of follow-up time and the reference value range of each parameter after liver transplantation, which is of great clinical significance for early detection and diagnosis of postoperative vascular complications. However, the blood flow after adult liver transplantation is affected by many factors. In clinical monitoring, it is necessary to make judgment combined with the individual state of patients and conduct dynamic follow-up.

OBJECTIVES@#This study aimed to investigate the common types and directions of root fractures of the maxillary first molar and the influence of root canal treatment on the prevalent sites of root fractures.@*METHODS@#A total of 274 maxillary first molars with root fractures diagnosed via cone beam computed tomography were included. The root fractures of nonendodontically and endodontically treated teeth were identified to be spontaneous and secondary root fractures, respectively. The sites, types, and directions of spontaneous and secondary root fractures were determined.@*RESULTS@#Among the spontaneous root fractures, the proportion of palatal root fractures (56.1%) was higher than those of mesial buccal root fractures (36.1%) and distal buccal root fractures (7.8%). Among the secondary root fractures, the proportion of mesial buccal root fractures (52.7%) was higher than those of palatal root fractures (36.5%) and distal buccal root fractures (10.8%). The distribution of predominant fracture sites was statistically significant (@*CONCLUSIONS@#This study provided an epidemiological basis for the clinical features of root fractures of the maxillary first molar. During the dia-gnosis and treatment of the maxillary first molar, the possibility of palatal root fractures should be considered. The occurrence of mesial buccal root fractures may be related to root canal treatment. Therefore, the risk of mesial buccal root fractures caused by iatrogenic factors should be minimized.

The aim of this study was to explore the effect of hsa_circ_0002162 on regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion, and investigate its potential target microRNA (miRNA) in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). Hsa_circ_0002162 expression was detected in human TSCC cell lines and human oral keratinocytes (HOK) cell line. Cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and candidate target miRNA expressions were detected in hsa_circ_0002162 knockdown-treated CAL-27 cells and hsa_circ_0002162 overexpression-treated SCC-9 cells. In the rescue experiment, miR-33a-5p knockdown plasmid was transfected into hsa_circ_0002162 knockdown-treated CAL-27 cells, while miR-33a-5p overexpression plasmid was transfected into hsa_circ_0002162 overexpression-treated SCC-9 cells. Subsequently, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion were detected, and then luciferase reporter assay was performed. Hsa_circ_0002162 expression was increased in human TSCC cell lines SCC-9, CAL-27, HSC-4, and SCC-25 compared with HOK. In CAL-27 cells, hsa_circ_0002162 knockdown inhibited cell proliferation and invasion and promoted apoptosis. In SCC-9 cells, hsa_circ_0002162 overexpression enhanced cell proliferation and invasion and suppressed apoptosis. Furthermore, a negative regulation of hsa_circ_0002162 on miR-33a-5p (but not miR-302b-5p and miR-545-5p) was observed. In the rescue experiment, miR-33a-5p knockdown increased cell proliferation and invasion, and decreased apoptosis in hsa_circ_0002162 knockdown-treated CAL-27 cells, whereas miR-33a-5p overexpression decreased cell proliferation and invasion, but increased apoptosis in hsa_circ_0002162 overexpression-treated SCC-9 cells. The luciferase reporter assay showed the direct binding of hsa_circ_0002162 to miR-33a-5p. In conclusion, hsa_circ_0002162 had an important role in malignant progression of TSCC through targeting miR-33a-5p.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Our study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of lncRNA H19 for coronary artery disease (CAD) and to explore its possible mechanisms. Methods: A total of 30 CAD patients and 30 healthy individuals, as well as patients with different cardiovascular diseases, were included in this study. Blood was drawn from each participant to prepare serum samples, and the expression of lncRNA H19 was detected using qRT-PCR. The ROC curve analysis was used to analyze the diagnostic value of H19 for CAD. The effects of patients' basic information and lifestyle on H19 expression were analyzed. The plasma level of TGF-β1 was measured by ELISA. The H19 overexpression in the human primary coronary artery endothelial cell (HCAEC) line was constructed, and the effects of H19 overexpression on the TGF-β1 expression were analyzed using Western blot. The results of H19 expression were specifically upregulated in patients with CAD but not in healthy individuals and patients with other types of cardiovascular diseases. The ROC curve analysis showed that the H19 expression level could be used to predict CAD accurately. Gender, age, and patients' lifestyle had no significant effects on H19 expression, but H19 expression was higher in patients with a longer course of disease in comparison with the controls. H19 expression was positively correlated with the serum level of TGF-β1, and H19 overexpression significantly increased TGF-β1 protein level in HCAEC. Conclusion: H19 overexpression participates in the pathogenesis of CAD by increasing the expression level of TGF-β1, and H19 expression level may serve as a diagnostic marker for CAD.


RESUMO OBJETIVO Nosso estudo teve como objetivo investigar o valor diagnóstico do lncRNA H19 para doença arterial coronariana (DAC) e explorar os possíveis mecanismos. Métodos Um total de 30 pacientes com DAC e 30 pessoas saudáveis, bem como pacientes com diferentes doenças cardiovasculares foram incluídos neste estudo. O sangue foi extraído de cada participante para preparar amostras de soro e a expressão de lncRNA H19 foi detectada por qRT-PCR. A análise da curva ROC foi utilizada para analisar o valor diagnóstico de H19 para DAC. Efeitos da informação básica dos pacientes e estilo de vida na expressão de H19 foram analisados. O nível plasmático de TGF-β1 foi medido por ELISA. A linha de células endoteliais da artéria coronária primária (HCAEC) humana de sobre-expressão de H19 foi construída e os efeitos da sobre-expressão de H19 na expressão de TGF-β1 foram analisados por Western blot. Resultados A expressão de H19 foi especificamente regulada positivamente em pacientes com DAC, mas não em pessoas saudáveis e em pacientes com outros tipos de doenças cardiovasculares. A análise da curva ROC mostrou que o nível de expressão de H19 pode ser usado para prever com precisão a DAC. Sexo, idade e estilo de vida dos pacientes não têm efeitos significativos sobre a expressão de H19, mas a expressão de H19 foi maior em pacientes com curso mais longo da doença em comparação com os controles. A expressão de H19 correlacionou-se positivamente com o nível sérico de TGF-β1 e a superexpressão de H19 aumentou significativamente o nível de proteína de TGF-β1 em HCAEC. Conclusão A superexpressão de H19 participa da patogênese da DAC aumentando o nível de expressão de TGF-β1 e o nível de expressão de H19 pode servir como marcador diagnóstico de DAC.

Objective Based on the principle of uncemented stem design, the femoral anteversion in different CT planes before total hip arthroplasty (THA) and stem anteversion after THA was compared, so as to find out the preoperative measurement to estimate stem anteversion in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH) after THA. Methods Twenty-one primary THA patients (28 hips) who were diagnosed with DDH between September 2007 and May 2013 in Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine were selected. Preoperative and postoperative CT scans were performed on all patients. The femoral anteversion angle was defined as the angle between the midcortical line between the anterior and posterior cortical line in five CT slices and the posterior condylar axis. The slice levels for the 4 femoral sites were selected,including the area just distal to the femoral head, the center of the lesser trochanter,1 cm height above center of the lesser trochanter, 2 cm height above center of the lesser trochanter (marked as femoral anteversion 1-4). Femoral anteversion 5 was defined as the midcortical line of the anterior cortical line in the slice of 2 cm height above center of the lesser trochanter and the posterior cortical line in the slice of 50% of the distance from the top of greater trochanter to the center of the lesser trochanter above the center of the lesser trochanter. The stem anteversion angle was defined as the angle formed by the stem neck major axis and the posterior aspect of the femoral condylar line. The cup version and stem alignment were also calculated. The difference value and correlation coefficients of femoral anteversion 1-5 and stem anteversion were compared. Results Femoral anteversion 1-5 was 17.70°±10.54°, 35.59°±7.21°, 31.09°±7.98°, 24.71°±9.11°, 21.94°±10.10°, respectively。Stem anteversion was 20.52°±10.90°. The difference value between stem anteversion and femoral anteversion 1-5 was 2.82°±6.27°, -15.08°±7.99°, -13.80°±15.68°, -4.19°±5.69°, -1.42°±4.07°, respectively. Cup anteversion was 25.60°±11.65°, and combined antevertion was 46.11°±13.28°,sagittal stem tilt was 1.13°±1.53°. There were statistically significant differences between femoral anteversion 1-4 and stem anteversion (P<0.05), and no statistical difference was found between femoral anteversion 5 and stem anteversion. The correlation coefficients of femoral anteversion 1-5 and stem anteversion were 0.829, 0.681, 0.689, 0.853, 0.928, respectively. Conclusions Femoral anteversion 5 had a highly positive correlation with stem anteversion, which was an effective a substitute of stem anteversion before THA.

Objective@#The aim of this study is to investigate the periodontal status of senior high school students in Dongcheng District, Beijing. @*Methods @#750 Beijing senior high school students were recruited in this study. The periodontal examination assessed the calculus, bleeding on probing, probing depth, and clinical attachment loss. The prevalences of gingivitis and periodontitis were assessed. @*Results @#A total of 73.5% of the subjects had gingivitis, the prevalences of gingivitis in male and female were 76.7% and 69.2% respectively. The prevalence of periodontitis was 10.9% in total, with 11.8% in male and 9.8% in female respectively.@*Conclusion @#The prevalence of gingivitis was high in senior high school students, and significantly higher in male. The prevalence of periodontitis was relatively low, and there was no difference in gender.

Autophagy generally reside in eukaryote and is a highly conserved protein degradation pathway,which take part in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis as well as the growth of cells.The characterization of autophagy being reported over years has revealed that it involved in immune response,such as removal of intracellular bacteria,inflammatory cytokine secretion,antigen presentation,and lymphocyte development,and then involved in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis indirectly.So,in this review,we focus on the pathway ofautophagy and the role of which in the multiple sclerosis (MS) in order to further understand the important effect and potential therapeutic value of autophagy in MS.

Objective To observe the effect of exercise training in hypoxia on the activation of NL-RP3 inflammasomes in skeletal muscles,and to explore the role of nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2).Methods Thirty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normoxia control (NC) group,a normoxia training (NT) group,a hypoxia control (HC) group and a hypoxia training (HT) group,each of 8.The hypoxia animals were housed in normobaric hypoxic tent with oxygen content of 11.3% for 4 weeks consecutively.The animals exercised on a motor-driven rodent treadmill of a 5% slope at a speed of 15 m/min for 60 min/day,5 days/week.Following the last hypoxia exposure,all rats were sacrificed by decapitation and their quadriceps were removed.Their muscle mitochondria were extracted using the differential velocity centrifugation.The generation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(ROS)was detected using the dichlorofluorescein method.The 8-oxodG in the mitochondral DNA was measured using the high-performance liquid chromatography.The interleukin-1β(IL-13)content and Caspase-1 relative activity of muscles was determined using the enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay and colorimetric assay.Western blotting was employed to detect the expression of NLRP3,ASC,NF-E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)and quinone oxidase reductase 1(NQO1)protein.Results The ROS generation and the level of 8-oxodG in mtDNA,Caspase-1 activity and IL-1β content,as well as NLRP3 and ASC protein expression in skeletal muscles in group HC were significantly higher than group NC(P<0.01 for all),while the Nrf2 and NQO1 protein expression of the former were significantly lower than the latter(P<0.05,P<0.01).The ROS generation and the level of 8-oxodG in mtDNA,Caspase-1 activity and IL-13 content,as well as NLRP3 and ASC protein expression in skeletal muscle in group HT were significantly lower than group HC(P<0.05,P<0.01),while the Nrf2 and NQO1 protein expression of the former were significantly higher than the latter(P<0.01 for all).Conclusion Exercise training in hypoxia can prevent hypoxia induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation in skeletal muscle via Nrf2-dependent pathways to suppress ROS generation and elevate the expression of antioxidant enzymes.

BACKGROUND:Whether NOD-like receptor family,pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is involved in hypoxia-induced skeletal muscle mitochondrial dysfunction,and the underlying mechanism remain unclear.OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor VX-765 on skeletal muscle mitochondrial function,and to explore the role of NLRP3 inflammasome in hypoxia-induced mitochondrial dysfunction.METHODS:Thirty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups:normoxia,hypoxia,and hypoxia plus VX-765 groups.The rats in the hypoxia group were subjected to hypoxia exposure in normobaric hypoxic tent with 11.3% O2.The hypoxia plus VX-765 group rats were given the intraperitoneal injection of VX-765 (50 mg/kg) daily.All of the interventions lasted for 4 weeks.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:VX-765 in hypoxia markedly inhibited the expression of NLRP3 and apoptosis-associated speck-like protein,attenuated caspase-1 activity and interleukin-1β content,and suppressed mitochondrial H2O2 generation.In addition,VX-765 in hypoxia markedly enhanced the expression of mitochondrial peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor y coactivator 1-α and cyclooxygenase ⅣV,elevated mitochondrial membrane potent and ATP synthetase activity.These results indicate that hypoxia induces skeletal muscle dysfunction through activating NLRP3 inflammasome and impairing mitochondrial function.The hypoxia-induced mitochondrial dysfunction enhances reactive oxygen species generation and further triggers interleukin-1 β production via the NLRP3 inflammasome activation.In turn,interleukin-lβ further impairs mitochondrial function through suppresseing peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor y coactivator 1 o,resulting in a vicious circle between NLRP3 inflammasome activation and mitochondrial dysfunction.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the effect of the application of Rivaroxaban in the treatment of the patients with total hip replacement.Methods 114 patients with total knee arthroplasty were randomly divided into control group and observation group,57 cases in each group.All patients were operated by the standard operation in the department of orthopedics.The control group was given low molecular weight heparin before operation.The patients in the observation group were treated with 8h after the operation,and the color Doppler ultrasound was performed on the patients with double lower limbs and lungs after 2 courses of treatment.Observation of drainage,two groups of patients after total blood transfusion,blood index,adverse reactions and deep vein thrombosis cases.Results In the observation group,the deep vein embolism rate (1.75%)was significantly lower than that in the control group of 12.28% (χ2 =4.25,P 0.05).During the treatment,the patients in the two groups were adverse reactions.Conclusion The effect of oral administration of Rivaroxaban after hip replacement surgery is remarkable,which can effectively reduce the incidence of deep venous thrombosis,and it is safe,and it is worthy of clinical application.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the breakpoints of the azoospermia factor c (AZFc) microdeletion in Chinese Han population.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We detected 9 sequence tagged sites (sY84, sY86, sY127, sY134, sY152, sY145, sY255, sY254 and sY157) to confirm AZFc microdeletions in the Y chromosome for patients with severe oligozoospermia or non-obstructive azoospermia by multiplex polymerase reaction. To locate the breakpoints of AZFc microdeletions, we analyzed 192 patients with sY255, sY254 and sY157 dele- ted by detecting sY1191, sY1197, sY1054, sY1125 and sY1206, respectively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Five breaking patterns were found in the 192 patients with sY255, sY254 and sY157 deleted, among which the common ones were sY1197(+), sY1191(-), sY1054(-), sY1206(-) and sY1125(+), which accounted fro 54.17% (104/192), sY1197(+), sY1191(+), sY1206(-), sY1054(-) and sY1125(+), which constituted 28.12% (54/192), sY1197(+), sY1191(-), sY1206(-), sY1054(+) and sY1125 (+), which made up 14.58% (28/192). The proximal breakpoint located between sY1197 and sY1191 was 70.83% of AZFc microdeletions, and the distant breakpoint located between sY1054 and sY1125 was 82.29%.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>There are 5 breaking patterns of AZFc microdeletions in Chinese Han population, the proximal and distant breakpoints mostly located at the replicons b2 and b4, respectively.</p>

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the influence of cigarette smoking on human sperm DNA integrity.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Totally, 784 cases of male infertility were selected from our case database and grouped according to whether they were smokers or nonsmokers, how much they smoked (< or = 10, 11-19 and > or = 20 cigarettes/d) and how long they smoked (< or = 5, 6-9 and > or = 10 yr). Sperm DNA integrity was measured using sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA) and flow cytometry. DNA fragmentation and immature spermatozoa were expressed by the DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and high DNA stainability (HDS) respectively. Conventional sperm parameters and sperm DNA integrity were compared among different groups.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The total semen volume and percentage of grade a + b sperm were lower and the sperm morphological abnormality was higher in the > or = 20 cigarettes/d and > or = 10 yr groups than in the others (P < 0.05). DFI and HDS were significantly higher in the smokers than in the nonsmokers (P < 0.05). HDS was negatively correlated with the percentage of grade a + b sperm (r = -0.18, P < 0.05) and both DFI and HDS were positively correlated with the rate of sperm malformation (r = 0.31 and r = 0.39, P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Smoking more than 20 cigarettes a day or longer than 10 years has deleterious effects on the semen volume, percentage of grade a + b sperm and sperm morphology of the smokers. Cigarette smoking decreases sperm DNA integrity and nuclear maturation.</p>

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To design a new type minor smoke warming moxibustion cup for convenient use of both the physicians and the patients.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The double-deck minor smoke warming moxibustion cup is fixed on the part receiving moxibustion by vacuum adsorption; the filtration device on the upper can filtrate and adsorb the harmful substance in the moxa-smoke, and the device with a double-temperature control on the lower can sensitively regulate the moxibustion temperature.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>This new type minor smoke warming moxibustion cup has the advantages of minor smoke discharge, convenient fixation, sensitive regulation of temperature, saving moxibustion material, lasting action, safety, besides the advantages of traditional moxibustion.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The new type minor smoke warming moxibustion cup can use for treatment and prevention of diseases, suitable to clinical treatment and family health care.</p>

RESUMO

To analyze the constituents in supercritical fluid CO2 extraction (SFE-CO2) of Radix caulophylli, the Radix caulophylli was extracted with SFE-CO2, and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The GC-MS analysis with a DB-5MS capillary column (30 mm x 0.32 mm ID, 0.25 microm film thickness) was used. The inlet temperature was maintained at 280 degrees C. The column oven was held at 80 degrees C for 2 min, then programmed from 80 to 280 degrees C at 5 degrees C x min(-1) and, finally, held for 4 min. Helium at a constant flow rate of 2.0 mL x min(-1) was used as the carrier gas. The mass spectrometry conditions were as follows: ionization energy, 70 eV; ion source temperature, 200 degrees C. The mass selective detector was operated in the TIC mode (m/z was from 40 - 500). For the first time 49 peaks were separated and identified, the compounds were quantitatively determined by normalization method, and the identified compounds represent 97.44% of total GC peak areas. Viz, n-hexadecanoic acid (31.4%), (E, E) -9, 12-octadecadienoic acid (26.54%), (Z)-7-tetradecenal (9.4%), hexadecenoic acid (3.23%), 10-undecenal (3.22%), octadecanoic acid (2.25%), and caulophylline (1.76%) etc. The results will provide important foundation for understanding the constituents and further exploitation of Radix caulophylli.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To make a summary of the experiences in the treatment of abdominal injuries.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A retrospective study was done on 522 cases of abdominal injuries in our department from January 1986 to December 2004.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Of all,382 cases were treated by surgery and 140 by conservative method. Among the surgically treated cases, 347 patients (90.8%) recovered, 35(9.2%) died and 21 had postoperative complications (5.6%). For patients undergoing conservative treatment, 139(99.3%) recovered but one (0.7%) died.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The severity of abdominal injury and delayed treatment are two key factors leading to death. Surgical procedure is still the main method against alternative abdominal injuries. It is necessary to strictly control the indications in conservative treatment.</p>

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To provide current tendency of viral transmission by test-negative blood components changing among blood donors and to improve the safety of blood for transfusion.METHODS The test data of 1 608 816 blood donors in Beijing Red Cross Blood Center from 2001 to 2008 were analyzed.RESULTS Before voluntary blood donation,the positive rate of anti-HCV was 0.16%,that of anti-HIV was 0.005% and that of anti-TP was 0.15%.After voluntary blood donation,positive rate of these components increased,there were 0.45%,0.017% and 0.48%,respectively,but the positive rate of HBsAg and ALT was decreased.After voluntary blood donation,the positive rate of HBsAg,anti-HCV,anti-HIV and anti-TP were elevated,that of ALT was decreased in greatly.CONCLUSIONS As the increasing risk of viral transmission disease,it is more important for blood safety to screen volunteer blood donors.
