RESUMO

Posterior cataract opacification(PCO)is the epithelial-mesenchymal transformation(EMT)of residual lens epithelial cells(LECs)after cataract surgery, resulting in opaque scar which is one of the main complications of cataract surgery. A large amount of fibronectin(FN)produced by LECs after cataract surgery binds to a variety of cell surface receptors, matrix components and growth factors to regulate cell behavior. The purpose of this article is to review the literatures on the treatment of PCO targeting fibronectin and provide references for clinical treatment of PCO. In this paper, the research status of fibronectin in PCO in recent years is reviewed.

RESUMO

Objective To screen the key genes of colon cancer and to explore the pathogenesis of colon cancer. Methods The expression data were searched from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and the differentially expressed genes were selected by GEO2R. The differentially expressed genes were analyzed by gene ontology (GO) , KEGG pathway and protein-protein interaction networks. Results A total of 324 differentially expressed genes including 61 upregulated genes and 263 downregulated genes were found in more than three GEO series. An analysis of differentially expressed gene pathways revealed that bile secretion, drug metabolism, cytochrome P450, and chemical carcinogenesis were involved in the pathogenesis of colon cancer. Thus 9 key genes were identified, including BMP2, CXCL1, CXCL12, CXCL2, GCG, IL8, MMP1, PHLPP2 and PYY. Conclusion The key genes could be screened by bioinformatics effectively, which might provide the basis for further experimental study.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo perform a systematic review between all-cause mortality and body mass index (BMI) in Asian adults.

METHODRelevant prospective studies that reported the relative risks (RRs) of all-cause mortality for community-based adults in Asia were identified by a literature search.PubMed and CNKI electronic databases were searched from inception through September 30, 2014, with language restrictions of English and Chinese. Data were extracted by 1 reviewer and then reviewed by 3 independent reviewers. The overall effect of varied levels of BMI and all-cause mortality were then pooled and analyzed.Potential sources of heterogeneity were detected by stratification analyses and sensitivity analyses. Publication bias was detected by funnel plot, Egger's test and Begg's test.

RESULTSSeventeen studies met the inclusion criteria; these studies included 1 769 369 individuals with 104 888 deaths. Random-effects summary all-cause mortality RRs was calculated. With the use of a BMI (in kg/m²) of 18.5~22.9 as the reference, the summary RRs were 1.39(95% CI: 1.31~1.47) for BMI less than 18.5 kg/m² , 0.88 (95% CI: 0.85~0.92) for BMI of 23.0~29.9 kg/m² and 1.14 (95% CI: 1.05~1.23) for BMI more than 30.0 kg/m². The RRs tended to be higher when weight and height were self-reported rather than measured. The RRs were higher when papers were published before the year 2005 rather than after the year 2006. Also, the RRs were higher when the quality scores were higher. Potential sources of heterogeneity were gender, the method of obtaining weight and height, geography, publication year and quality scores. There was no publication bias (P>0.05) in this meta-analysis.

CONCLUSIONThere was an increased risk of all-cause mortality for those both at the lower and higher level of BMI in Asian adults.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate the accuracy of Pentacam(R) built-in 5 intraocular pressure (IOP) correction programs used to measure the IOP of patients who received corneal refractive surgery. METHODS: IOP of 124 eyes from 62 patients who underwent epipolis laser in situ keratomileusis was measured with Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) at 6 months pre- and post-operatively. The collected data was input into Pentacam(R), calculated by 5 correction programs, Ehlers, Shah, Dresden, Orssengo / Pye, Kohlhaas, and compared. RESULTS: The GAT-based pre- and post-operative IOP was 15.75 +/- 2.24 mm Hg, and 10.72 +/- 2.31 mm Hg, respectively, revealing the post-operative IOP to be significantly lower than the pre-operative IOP (p < 0.001). Among the 5 correction programs within Pentacam(R), Ehlers program showed little difference between pre- and post-operative IOP values (p = 0.228) and the post-operative correction value showed no significant difference with the pre-operative GAT value (p = 0.413). CONCLUSIONS: The Ehlers program is the most accurate among the 5 Pentacam(R) correction programs evaluated in the present study, and can be a useful tool for correcting the true IOP of patients which tends to be higher after corneal refractive surgery.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo investigate the influence of recombinant thioredoxin (TRX)on apoptosis of myocardium cell in viral myocarditis of mice.MethodsTwenty-four Balb/c mice, weighting 12 - 14 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups:the control group, the virus group and the protective group,8 mice in each group. The virus group and the protective group were injected with 0.1 ml 100TCID50 Coxackie virus B3 (CVB3)intraperitoneally,and the control group was injected equal volume of saline.Therewithal the protective group was injected with TRX(2 mg/kg) by tail vein, and the virus group was injected saline the same way. After 14 days all mice were killed and hearts were taken.Changes of myocardial histopathology was observed with optical microscope, cell apoptosis was checked by TUNEL technique, and the expression of apoptosis-related proteins (Bcl-2,caspase-3)in infiltrated cell of myocardium was determined by immunohistochemistry.Results(①)Lymphocyte infiltration and necrosis were observed in survivals of the virus group, sporadic coagulation necrosis and ballooning degeneration of cells were observed in the protective group, however no myocardial lesion was found in the control group.(②)TUNEL technique showed that the positive ratio of apoptosis in the virus group and the protective group[(90.23 ± 3.63)%,(20.02 ± 2.41)%] was significantly higher than that of the control group(0.00 ± 0.00,all P < 0.05),the positive ratio of apoptosis in the protective group was significantly lower than that of the virus group (P < 0.05 ).(③)Immunohistochemistry showed that the expression of protein Bcl-2(+,++,+++) in the virus group and the protective group was significantly higher than that of the control group (all P < 0.05).The expression of protein Bcl-2 in the protective group was significantly higher than that of the virus group(P < 0.05).The expression of caspase-3 (+,++) was significantly higher in the virus group and the protective group than the control group (all P < 0.05).Compared with the virus group, the expression of caspase-3 in the protective group was significantly lower(P < 0.05).ConclusionTRX could inhibit cardiomyocyte apoptosis in viral myocarditis mice and the inhibition is related to regulation of apoptosis-related protein expression.

RESUMO

The role of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in the central regulation of the circulation is known to be a neurotransmitter or a neuromodulator, but its actions on baroreceptor reflex function are not fully resolved. The present study examined the role of ANP (6, 60 ng/0.2 microl) by direct microinjection into the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) in conscious rats. OPC-21268 (0.45 microg/3 microl), an antagonist of the V(1) receptor, was microinjected into the lateral ventricle to examine whether the effect of ANP on baroreflex sensitivity is mediated by vasopressin (VP). ANP significantly increased the baroreflex sensitivity, and OPC-21268 attenuated the increase of baroreflex sensitivity induced by ANP. Intravenous injections of ANP (60 ng/0.04 ml) did not affect baroreflex sensitivity. These results suggest that ANP in the PVN may produce a facilitative effect on baroreflex, and the effect may be via, at least in part, the central vasopressin.
