RESUMO

Endometrial stromal sarcomas are rare uterine tumors accounting for about 0.2% of female genital tract malignancies, which are composed of cells closely resembling normal proliferative endometrial stromal cells. The tumor is classified into a low-grade and a high-grade variety on the basis of the mitotic rate. The low- grade endometrial stromal sarcoma has many synonyms, which include endolymphatic stromal myosis, stromatosis, stromal endometriosis and endometrioid sarcoma. Because the endometrial stromal sarcoma is very rare, the preoperative diagnosis and postoperative treatment are still difficult for clinicians. We have experienced two cases of low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma of the uterus which are presented with a review of brief literature.

RESUMO

Periventricular leukomalacia is a major cause of neuro-developmental delay in premature infant. Although it develops in only a small percentage of preterm infants, the condition poses a major problem. The pathogenesis of periventricular leukomalacia is not well established. Because of the topography of the lesion, a decreased cerebral perfusion occurred before delivery is thought to be a critical pathogenetic factor. Therefore, hypoxic brain damage is thought to be a major cause of periventricular leukomalacia. The importance of neurochemically mediated injury to the white matter has been stressed. Recently, high incidence of placental chorioamnionitis with periventricular leukomalacia. We experienced a case of periventricular leukomalacia related to chorioamnionitis. The pathology of placenta was chorioamniontis, and it was thought to be a cause of periventricular leukomalacia. So, we report our case with a short literature review to ensuring that chorioamionitis without perinatal asphyxia cause a periventricular leukomalacia.

RESUMO

Granulosa cell tumors of the ovary are rare neoplasms, which account for 2-3% of all ovarian malignancies. There are two types of granulosa cell tumors, adult type and juvenile type. The patients with adult granulosa cell tumors present symptoms of metrorrhagia and amenorrhea due to high serum estrogen level, and maybe accompanied by endometrial hyperplasia in one third of cases and endometrial cancer in 10% of cases. Endometrial cancers have two different pathogenetic types, estrogen-dependent tumors with a history of exposure to unopposed estrogen, and estrogen-independent tumors. In patients with granulosa cells tumors, estrogen-dependent endometrial cancers can be found and most of these endometrial cancers are well differentiated, endometrioid adenocarcinoma and good prognosis due to early detection Although it is known that granulosa cell tumors with endometrial cancers are found in 10% of cases, Finn et al. found no cases of granulosa cell tumors with endometrial cancers. Heric et al. reported 5 of 54 cases of granulosa cell tumors with endometrial cancers, and recently Monzer et al. reported one such case. As we expeirence a case of adult granulosa cell tumor associated with endometrial cancer, we report our case with a literature review.
