RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To investigate the improvement effects of azithromycin on bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in neonatal rats based on hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)/HIF-2α/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway. METHODS Sixty newborn SD rats were randomly divided into negative control group (NC), BPD group, azithromycin group and budesonide group (positive control), with 15 rats in each group. Rats in NC group were given normal breathing air, while rats in other three groups were exposed to high-concentration oxygen for 14 days to establish BPD rat models. After successful modeling, rats in azithromycin group were intraperitoneally injected with azithromycin 200 mg/kg, and rats in budesonide group were atomized with budesonide 1.5 mg/kg once a day for 14 consecutive days, while rats in BPD group and NC group were not treated. Pathological changes of lung tissue, radial alveolar count and mean alveolar intercept of rats were observed in each group. The white blood cell count in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-1β, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were detected; mRNA and protein expressions of VEGF, HIF-1α, HIF-2α were also detected. RESULTS Compared with NC group, the lung tissue in BPD group was obviously damaged; the white blood cell count, average alveolar intercept and the levels of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β and MDA were significantly increased; the radial alveolar count, SOD and CAT levels, the relative expressions of VEGF, HIF-1α, HIF-2α mRNA and protein were significantly decreased (P<0.05). Compared with BPD group, the changes of the above indexes in azithromycin group and budesonide group were significantly reversed (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Azithromycin can obviously improve the symptoms of BPD in rats, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, and exert lung protection, the mechanism of which may be realized by activating HIF-1α/HIF-2α/VEGF pathway.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Yu’s meridian detection and treatment plus acupuncture in treating facial paralysis.Method Sixty patients with facial paralysis in acute stage were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by Yu’s meridian detection and treatment plus acupuncture, while the control group was by ordinary acupuncture. The House-Brackmann (H-B) scale and symptom-sign scores were observed before and after the treatment.Result The H-B scale scores were changed significantly in the two groups after the treatment (P<0.05). After the treatment, the H-B score of the treatment group was significantly different from that of the control group (P<0.05). The symptom-sign scores were significantly changed in both groups after the treatment (P<0.01). The symptom-sign score of the treatment group was significantly different from that of the control group after the treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion Yu’s meridian detection and treatment plus acupuncture is an effective method in treating facial paralysis.

RESUMO

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture treatment for infantile autism. Methods: After being treated with the needling technique for enhancing wisdom and opening the orifice, 32 cases of sick children were assessed by Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC) depending upon their clinical symptoms. Results: After acupuncture treatments, language communication, interpersonal relationships, movements and behavior, and personal ability had all improved. Among them, the remarkable rate of language communication showed a statistical significance in comparison with the other three items (P<0.05). In the comparison of the ATEC scores before and after the treatments, the language items (P<0.01), social relationships, perception and behavior items, showed statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of sick children with autism, and the interference effect on language function is especially remarkable.

RESUMO

Objective To study the improvement of sleep and life quality in chronic insomina patients with abdominal acupuncture. Methods Ninety patients were randomly divided into study group and control group. The study group were treated with abdominal acupuncture combined with hypnotics, and control group of with pure hypnotics. Ten treatments formed a course. The therapeutical effect was assessed with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Questionnaire SF-36 before and after treatment and 2 weeks after treatment respectively. Results The significant improvement was obtained in aspects of general effective rate right after the treatment, general score of PSQI and score of Questionnaire SF-36, and very significant improvement two weeks after the treatment not only in PSQI scores in sleep quality, sleep efficiency, daytime function and hypnotics but in SF-36 score. Conclusions Abdominal acupuncture can treat chronic insomnia through regulating body environment so as to improve sleep and life quality, and eliminate the hypnotic side effects.
