RESUMO

Purpose: to ascertain the role of social support and positive affect in prediction of addiction relapse

Materials and Methods: the research method was a causal-comparison. Population included all the clients seeking for medical advice in the centers for Addiction Treatment in Saravan and Iranshar. The sample includes 186 participants [83 participants had no relapse and 83 participants had relapses] that were selected by using snowball sampling among those who participated in the centers during four months. The variables were measured by Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale. The data was analyzed by the independent test and logistic regression analysis

Results: findings showed that there was a significant difference between the participants without relapse and the participants with relapse in social support and positive affect. The two variables of social support and positive affect were the best predictors for addiction relapse, respectively

Conclusion: according to the findings it be can be concluded that social support and positive affect have effective role in prevention of clients' addiction

RESUMO

Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between religious coping and quality of life of mothers of children with hearing deficiency.

Methods: In this study, 55 mothers of children with hearing deficiency referred to Isfahan Cochlear Implant Center, from June to August 2012, were selected through applying census method. The participants answered the questionnaires of Religious Coping and Quality of Life [FS36].

Results: Results of correlation analysis indicated that there was a significant negative relationship between negative emotions toward God and the mental dimension of quality of life. Moreover, there was a significant positive relationship between benevolent appraisal and the physical dimension of quality of life. Regression analysis showed that negative emotions could explain 7.2% of variations in the mental dimension of respondents' quality of life.

Discussion: The increase in negative religious coping behaviors [e.g. negative emotions toward God] was associated with reduction of quality of life of mothers of children with hearing deficiency.

RESUMO

To compare early maladaptive schemas and coping styles in drug dependent and non-dependent prisoners of Zahedan city. This was an ex post facto study. The population of the study consisted of all men prisoners of Zahedan prison in 2013. The participants were 240 prisoners among which 120 prisoners were selected by convenience sampling method and the rest by simple random sampling method. The variables were evaluated using Young early maladaptive schema questionnaire and Young coping style scale. The obtained data were analyzed by the independent t-test and Statistical Package for Social Sciences [SPSS] software version 16. There was a difference between drug dependent and non-dependent prisoners in terms of self-regulation, impaired performance and avoidance coping style. Since avoidance behaviors are unadjusted procedures for dealing with difficulties, intervening in these behaviors would be appropriate therapeutically. Also, since coping styles strengthen early maladaptive schemas, therapeutic intervention in these behaviors can help to change these schemas

RESUMO

The present study aim is to predict the psychological inclination to drug use in youths by studying their attachment styles. The research sample includes male and female students of Zahedan Medical Science University with the average age of 19-24. The proportional cluster random sampling was used for selection of participant. The hypotheses were analyzed, using Pearson correlation method, regression analysis, one way variance analysis and t-test for two independent groups. The results indicated positive relationships among addiction aptitude and insecure-avoidant attachment style and negative relationship between addiction aptitude and secure attachment style. It is necessary to focus training intervention and prevention on all students

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate relationship between addiction potentiality and different dimensions of emotional self-regulation

Materials and Methods: This descriptive and correlational study included students of Sistan and Baluchistan University, Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran. Participants were selected by random sampling method. We applied Addiction Potential Scale [APS] and Difficult in Emotion Regulation Scale [DERS] for this study. For statistical analysis, Pearson correlation and regression analysis methods were used

Results: The results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between the addiction potential and all dimensions of emotional self-regulation [excepting lack of awareness]. The enter regression analysis for prediction of the APS by the DERS shows that the DERS predicts 16% of the APS variances

Conclusion: Regard to the results, it is necessary to introduce an especial program in emotional self-regulation for the youth with addiction potential

RESUMO

Drug abuse causes various societal problems, including decline in public health, increase in mortality, social and domestic traumas, loss of educational and occupational opportunities, increase in involvement with the judicial system, and development of drug abuse cycles. The tendency to use drugs is directly related to the attitudes of the individuals regarding the legality and the scale of social acceptance of drug use, the harm resulting from drug use, or the pleasant consequences of using drugs. The aim of the present study is to predict the psychological inclination to drug use in youths by studying their personality traits. The research sample included students of the Medical Science University, Zahedan, Iran, with an average age of 19-24 years. Participants were selected by probability proportional cluster random sampling. The instruments were the Addiction Potential Scale [APS] and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory [MMPI]. The hypotheses were tested using the Pearson correlation method and regression analysis. Addiction potential was positively related to personality characteristics. We found that those with the highest addiction potential [47%] exhibited the following 3 traits: characteristics of schizophrenia, psychological exhaustion, and depression. There were no significant differences in the addiction potential among the students with respect to grade, field of study, age, or gender

RESUMO

To investigate on relationship among family environment, pornography and sexual behavior of adolescents. Pornography may start from early youth along with starting of sexual behavior. Therefore it is important that the role of family factors in pornography be studied. The sample includes 362 students who were chosen by Proportional Cluster method from the first grade of High School [14 and 15 years old]. The research instruments were Schaefer's Family Environment Scales [FES], a researcher made Sexual Behaviors Scale [SBS], and Pornography Scale [PS]. The results indicate that there is a positive significant relationship between sexual Behaviors Scale [SBS] and pornography and there is a positive significant relationship between levels of coldness in family relationship and adolescents' Freedom. Also the result of stepwise regression shows, in the first step, level of sexual behavior is the strongest variable that predicts .42 of variance of adolescent's pornography. In the second step, Coldness in family relationship determines .05 of variances of pornography of adolescents. Gender differentiates shows that boys' pornography is more than for girls. Therefore coldness in family relationship is related with pornography and sexual behavior of adolescents
