RESUMO

Natural products are important sources for the discovery of anti-tumor drugs. Evodiamine is the main alkaloid component of the traditional Chinese herb Wu-Chu-Yu, and it has weak antitumor activity. In recent years, a number of highly active antitumor candidates have been discovered with a significant progress. This article reviews the research progress of evodiamine-based antitumor drug design strategies, in order to provide reference for the development of new drugs with natural products as leads.

Objective:To observe any effect of electroacupuncture on the expression of L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) in mice modeling Alzheimer′s disease (AD) and also any effect on learning and memory.Methods:Thirty male APP/PS1 mice were randomly divided into a model group, an electroacupuncture (EA) group, and a no acupuncture (NA) group, each of 10. All the animals were modeled as AD. Ten C57BL/6 mice served as a control group. The mice in the EA and NA groups were given continuous 50Hz EA at a current intensity of 1mA at and near the Baihui (GV20) and Shenshu (BL23) acupoints, respectively, once a day for 14 days, while the other two groups were not given any EA. The mice in the model and control groups continued to be routinely fed without any special treatment such as electroacupuncture. After the intervention, any behavioral changes were evaluated by using a Morris Water Maze, and the expression of L1CAM, PTEN and p53 protein in the hippocampus of each group was detected using western blotting.Results:Compared with the control group, the escape latency in positioning navigation experiments was significantly longer in the model group on the first 5 days of Morris Water Maze testing. Compared with the model group, the escape latency was significantly shorter in the EA group on days 2 to 5 of the Morris Water Maze testing, and the expression of L1CAM had increased significantly in the electroacupuncture group compared with the model group while PTEN and p53 expression had decreased significantly. The average escape latency of the NA group was significantly longer than that of the model group on days 2 to 5 of the Morris Water Maze testing. The average L1CAM expression in the NA group had decreased significantly, and the expression of PTEN and p53 protein had increased significantly more than in the EA group. The escape latency was negatively correlated with L1CAM expression but positively correlated with p53 protein and PTEN expression.Conclusion:L1CAM is involved in learning and memory processes, at least in mice. Electroacupuncture can improve the learning and memory of mice modeling Alzheimer′s, which may be due to its promoting the expression of L1CAM and inhibiting the expression of PTEN and p53.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To observe th e efficacy and safety of intermittently repeated application of levosimendan in the treatment of right heart failure of pulmonary hypertension. METHODS A total of 70 cases of right heart failure of pulmonary hypertension were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University during Jan. 2019-May 2021,and then randomly divided into control group and observation group ,with 35 cases in each group.In control group ,the patients with moderate risk of classification of pulmonary hypertension were given Tadalafil tablets and Ambrisentan tablets ,while the patients with high risk were given Tadalafil tablets ,Ambrisentan tablets and Treprostinil injection ;both were given anti-right heart failure drugs at the same time. On the basis of treatment in the control group ,patients in the observation group were additionally intravenously pumped with levosimendan injection 12.5 mg,once a month ,at a rate of 0.05-0.1 μg/(kg·min),3 months in total. Response rate of therapy ,improvement of risk stratification of pulmonary hypertension after treatment ,and average pulmonary artery pressure ,six-minute walk distance (6MWD),serum level of N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP),right atrial pressure (RAP),oxygen saturation in mixed venous blood (SvO2),cardiac index (CI),right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF),early diastolic tricuspid inflow velocity/early diastolic tricuspid annular velocity (E/Ea),tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion(TAPSE),right ventricular end-diastolic diameter (RVEDD),right ventricular end-systolic diameter (RVESD)before and after treatment ,and the occurrence of adverse reactions were observed in 2 groups. RESULTS The total response rate of observation group was significantly higher than control group after treatment (P<0.05). After treatment ,average pulmonary artery pressure,NT-proBNP level ,RAP,E/Ea,RVEDD and RVESD of 2 groups were significantly lower than before treatment ,while 6MWD,SvO2, CI, TAPSE and RVEF were significantly higher than before treatment ;NT-proBNP level and E/Ea of observation group were significantly lower than control group , while 6MWD,CI,TAPSE and RVEF were significantly higher than control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was no significant difference in average pulmonary artery pressure , risk stratification improvement cases of pulmonary hypertension , RAP, SvO2, RVEDD, RVESD and the incidence of asymptomatic hypotension between 2 groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS Intermittently repeated application of levosimendan can improve the function of right heart of pulmonary hypertension complicated with right heart failure and has good safety.

Objective:Loeys-Dietz syndrome is a rare type of hereditary connective tissue disease. This study was aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics and gene mutations in a family of Loeys-Dietz syndrome with skeletal deformity.Methods:Clinical data of the proband and family members were collected and biochemical measurements and radiological examinations were conducted. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood of the family members. Whole-exome sequencing was performed to determine the mutation sites in the proband, and Sanger sequencing was applied to verify the candidate mutation in the other family members.Results:The proband is a 34-year-old man with deformities of lower extremities for more than 30 years. Physical examinations showed dolichostenomelia, pes planus, joint laxity and scoliosis. Echocardiography revealed the dilatation of aortic root at the level of the sinuses of Valsalva. A heterozygous missense mutation (c. 220A>C, p.Thr74Pro) in exon 1 of TGFβ2 gene was identified in the proband. The same mutation was detected in his sister and niece with similar clinical features such as deformities of lower extremities and pes planus. This novel mutation has not been reported in ExAC or 1000G and was predicted to be deleterious, supporting a diagnosis of Loeys-Dietz syndrome type 4.Conclusions:Loeys-Dietz syndrome type 4 is caused by TGFβ2 mutations. Skeletal deformity is one of the distinctive features. Genetic testing is helpful for the early diagnosis and differential diagnosis from other connective tissue diseases.

Objective To investigate the level of cadmium(Cd)in commercial aquatic products in Xiacheng District, Hangzhou. Methods We randomly collected 293 aquatic products which belonged to six aquatic animals in the markets in Xiacheng District to determine the content of Cd. It was further evaluated by single factor pollution index(PI)according to the standard GB 2762-2017. In 11 samples of swimming crabs, Cd was examined in the different parts. Results There was no significant difference in the content of Cd between the samples collected in the markets and those in the supermarkets. It significantly differed in the samples of different aquatic animals(P < 0.05). The prevalence of Cd that exceeded the standard was as follows: seawater crustaceans(28.6%) > cephalopods(11.1%) > freshwater crustaceans(8.4%) > bivalves(6.9%). However, it was not excessive in the samples of fish. The mean level of Cd in the seawater crustaceans was 0.466 3 mg/kg, which resulted in the proportion of the samples that were excessive being 28.6%. Particularly, the mean level in sea crab was as high as 1.101 mg/kg with the proportion being 66.7%. In the samples of swimming crabs, there was a significant difference in the prevalence of Cd between swimming crab gonads and crab chests or legs(P > 0.05), while no statistical difference between crab chests and legs(P > 0.05). Conclusion The content of Cd in the aquatic products may be excessive in Xiacheng District, which warrants additional regulatory efforts to food safety. The public should reduce the consumption of aquatic products with high content of Cd.

Objective:To understand the risk of dietary lead exposure among adults in Xiacheng District of Hangzhou City. Methods:During 2013-2018, commercial foods were randomly collected in Xiacheng District of Hangzhou City for lead content testing. In combination with lead test result and dietary consumption data, the margin of exposure (MOE) method was used to assess the exposure risk of dietary lead. Results:A total of 827 samples from 14 kinds of commercial foods were collected, and the median of lead content was between 0.002 5 mg/kg and 0.100 0 mg/kg. The detection rate was 53.20%, and the over-standard rate was 1.09%. The median of daily dietary lead exposure among adults was 0.174 2 μg/kg BW, and the MOE value was 7.46. Vegetables and fruits were the dominant contributor to dietary intake of lead, accounting for 39.18% and 12.18%, respectively. Conclusion:The exposure of dietary lead among adults in Xiacheng District of Hangzhou City is at an acceptable level. The contribution of vegetables and fruits to dietary lead is higher than other foods, and needs more attention.

Objective:To observe the effect of applying electro-acupuncture to the governor vessel on the expression of proteins in the MAPK/ERK1/2 signaling pathway.Methods:Sixty-four female C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into a sham group, a spinal cord injured (SCI) group, an acupuncture (AP) group and an electro-acupuncture (EA) group. An SCI model was induced in all of the rats except those in the sham group. The sham and SCI groups were not given any special treatment, while the AP and EA groups were treated with conventional or electro-acupuncture applied to the Dazhui (DU14) and Mingmen (DU4) acupoints in the governor vessel beginning on the day following the operation. The electrical stimulation was in dense-disperse waves at 2/100Hz frequency and 0.2mA intensity, lasted for 15 minutes daily, 5 days a week for 4 weeks . The expression of myelin basic protein (MBP), the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)1/2 and the phosphorylation of protein kinase B (Akt) in the injured volume were determined using immunofluorescence and western blotting on the 3rd, 7th, 14th and 28th days after the modeling.Results:Compared with the SCI group, p-ERK1/2 expression was greatly enhanced in the EA group on the 3rd, 14th and 28th days. It was also significantly enhanced in the AP group by the 28th day. Compared with the AP group, the average p-ERK1/2 expression in the EA group was significantly enhanced on the 3rd and 14th days. Compared with the SCI group, the average p-Akt of the EA group was significantly enhanced on the 14th and 28th days. The average p-Akt of the AP group had decreased significantly on the 3rd day. Compared with the SCI group, the average expression of MBP in the EA group was enhanced significantly on the 3rd, 7th and 14th days and the AP group′s average was significantly greater on the 3rd and 7th days.Conclusion:Electro-acupuncture can promote the expression of MBP, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and the phosphorylation of Akt after spinal cord injury.

Objective To investigate the status of occupational health surveillance in Xiacheng District of Hangzhou City from 2014 to 2017, and to provide basis for occupational hygienic supervision Methods Data on occupational health surveillance in Xiacheng District from 2014 to 2017 were collected, and the trend of occupational health surveillance was analyzed.The differences of occupational health surveillance among different hazardous agents, economic types, industries and scales were compared. Results There was no significant difference in rates of pre-job and on-job occupational medical examination from 2014 to 2017, and the rate of off-job occupational medical examination showed an increasing trend.There were statistical difference in on-the-job occupational medical examination rates among empolying units of different economic types, industries and scales.There were statistical differences in the detection rates of occupational contraindication among empolying units of different economic types, hazardous agents.There was no significant difference in the detection rates of suspected occupational diseases among empolying units. Conclusion The occupational health surveillance showed a phenomenon of "emphasizing on-the-job, neglecting pre-job and off-the-job" in Xiacheng District.Supervision department should pay more attention on manufacturing, collective and private economic.It is necessary to focus on the protection of staff contacts with chemical and physical agents. It is suggested that relevant departments should strengthen the propaganda and supervision of occupational health surveillance, according to the nature, characteristics of the employing units and types of their hazardous agents.

@#AIM: To observe the efficacy of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in patients with age-related macular degeneration(ARMD)after receiving a poor response to the combination of ranibizumab and photodynamic therapy(PDT). <p>METHODS: Ninety-two cases(122 eyes)of patients with age-related macular degeneration in our hospital from February 2015 to January 2017 were selected as the subjects. All patients were given intravitreal ranibizumab injection combined with photodynamic therapy, according to the received light sensitive dose were randomly divided into half dose group(45 eyes of 60 cases)and full dose group(47 eyes of 62 cases), half dose group received half dose verteporfin(3mg/m<sup>2</sup>), the full dose group received full dose verteporfin(6mg/m<sup>2</sup>). The patients were followed up for 1mo, 3mo after treatment. After 3mo treatment, 41 eyes of 30 patients paitents who got choroidal neovascularization(CNV)leakage again or leakage increased were randomly divided into control group of 14 cases(20 eyes), experimental group of 16 cases(21 eyes). All patients were treated with ranibizumab combined with half dose verteporfin(3mg/m<sup>2</sup>), photodynamic therapy. The experimental group were added with ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids soft capsule(twice per day, 1 tablets per time, period of 6mo). All patients were followed up at 1, 3 and 6mo after treatment.best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), central macular retinal thick(CRT), intraocular pressure, total effective rate of CNV, the average number of injections of ranibizumab and adverse reactions were observed during the follwed up. <p>RESULTS: The BCVA, CRT, intraocular pressure before and after 1,3mo treatment and the total efficiency of CNV of half dose group were no statistical differences with the full dose group(<i>P</i>>0.05). The number of times ranibizumab injection of half dose group(1.1±0.8, 1.6±1.2)were lower than that in the full dose group(1.6±1.1, 2.5±1.7)at 1 and 3mo after treatment, the differences were statistically significant(<i>P</i><0.05). The BCVA and CNV in experimental group was higher, CRT and ranibizumab injection times were lower than that in the control group at 1,3 and 6mo after treatment, the differences were statistically significant(<i>P</i><0.05). No serious adverse reactions related treatment were occurred in all patients. <p>CONCLUSION: It is safe and effective to treat patients with age-related macular degeneration by ranibizumab combined with half dose photodynamic therapy. The combination of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids can improve the therapeutic effect.

Objective:To study the clinical value of combined indocyanine green fluorescence labeling method in sentinel lymph node biopsy on patients with thyroid carcinoma.Methods:Patients of thyroid tumor in our hospital from January 2016 to August 2017 were selected as the research,object 99 cases of thyroid benign tumor patients were randomly selected as the control group,99 cases of thyroid carcinoma patients were randomly selected as the observation group.According to the random number table method,patients in the group were randomly divided into A,B and C three groups,33 cases in each group.Group A were used 1.25mg/mL indocyanine green as a fluorescent tracer,group B were used 2.5mg/mL indocyanine green as a fluorescent tracer,group C were used 5mg/mL indocyanine green as fluorescent tracer to tracer for sentinel lymph node biopsy.The detection rate of sentinel lymph node and the average number of sentinel lymph nodes of each group were compared,and the false negative rate,sensitivity and accuracy of each group were also compared.Results:The detection rate of anterior sentinel lymph node in the group B was higher nan that in the group A and group C (P<0.05).The average number of sentinel lymph nodes in the group B was significantly higher than that in the control group A and group C(P<0.05).The false negative rate and sensitivity of the group B were significantly better than those of the group A and group C(P<0.05).Conclusion:Indocyanine green fluorescent tracer method in sentinel lymph node biopsy has high detection rate of sentinel lymph node and detection range and high sensitivity advantage for patients with thyroid carcinoma,which has important clinical value for improving the operation methods,it is worth in clinical promotion.

BACKGROUND:To date,no single material can completely meet the clinical requirements.However,the composite materials characterized by good biodegradability,biocompatibility and osteoconductivity have become a highlight of the artificial bone materials.OBJECTIVE:To synthesize the basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres/hydroxyapatite (HA)/poly(I-lactic acid) (PLLA) porous bone scaffolds,and to observe the physicochemical properties and biocompatibility of the composite material.METHODS:The bFGF-PLGA microspheres were prepared by double emulsion method,and then six kinds of materials were made including PLLA,PLLNHA,PLLAJPLGA,PLLNHNPLGA,PLLNHA/bFGF,and bFGF-PLGA microspheres/PLLA/HA.The characterization of the materials were observed by particle size analyzer,transmission electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectrometer,microcomputer differential thermal balance,and scanning electron microscope.Toxicity of these materials and proliferation of bone marrow mesechymal stem cells seeded onto these materials were analyzed and compared.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The average particle size of bFGF-PLGA microspheres was about 250 nm,the average drug-loading capacity was (26.03±0.17)%,and the entrapment percentage was (90.65±2.68)%.The prepared bFGF-PLGA microspheres were spherical and had good dispersibility.In addition,all the six kinds of materials had a porous structure with similar pore diameter,in which the microspheres and particles exhibited a rational distribution.The toxic level of bFGF-PLGA microspheres/PLLNHA,bFGF/HNPLLA and HAP/PLLA was graded as 1 (with a relative survival rate ≥ 80%),indicating no obvious toxicity or slight toxicity.All these six kinds of composite materials can promote the proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells,and the bFGF-PLGA microspheres/PLLNHA shows the best effects on cell proliferation and has good biocompatibility.

Objective To determine whether endovascular simulation training in medical students may increase technical proficiency,enhance interest in vascular surgery. Methods We recruited 30 medical students from Pe-king Union Medical College prospectively. We gave these students an eight-week course with a structured curricu-lum comprised of weekly simulator sessions and theoretical lessons. A test of iliac artery balloon dilatation was con-ducted in pre-and post-course. Performance was assessed. Demographics and subjective survey data,including in-terest in vascular surgery were obtained pre-and post-course from the students too. Results Parameters measured on the standardized global endovascular rating scale,including angiography skills,wire handling and interventional criteria as well as simulator-generated metrics such as fluoroscopy time and volume of contrast used significantly im-proved from pre-to post-course values for the medical students(P<0.05) All the students agreed or strongly agreed that the simulation course increased their interest in vascular surgery. Conclusions A simulation-based endovascu-lar course improves technical performance with interest in vascular surgery training of medical students. The simula-tor is quite potential in the medical students training.

Objective: To carry out telemedicine, remote teaching and conference, training and other activity by using remote medical information service platform based on Internet of Things so as to help primary hospital and clinic to achieve trans-regionally medical rescue and medically professional communication. Methods: Through relied on the modern communication technique and information technique to construct remote medical information service network platform that based on Internet of Things, and to link medical organization and patients of different regions so as to carry out relevant telemedicine activity. Results: Based on the remote medical information service platform, the project has realized the remote medical information system of high definition video conferencing. And its effect could really and naturally presented clearly and dynamically medical data. Therefore, it could quickly and efficiently enhanced the quality and effect of remote medical treatment, teaching and academic conferences. Conclusion: Telemedicine can overcome obstacles leaded by time and space in getting medical service, and telemedicine information service platform is a efficient way in modulating unbalance of medical resource distribution, expediting the construction of primary medical service system, promoting equalization of urban and rural medical service and alleviating problems when people get medical service.

Objective:To research and design a wearable system for intelligent health monitoring and guidance of diagnosis and treatment so as to real-timely monitor the parameters of main vital signs of wearers and to achieve the intelligent health monitoring and guidance of diagnosis and treatment for wearers.Methods: The microsensor technique was its core, and blue tooth, 3G and (or) 4G mobile data communication function were applied in the design. And the vital signs of wearers were gathered, and threshold value was set to forewarn the warning. And then the data of vital signs were sent to cloud data platform of remote distant, and these data could be real-timely applied by doctor in diagnosis and treatment. Besides, the voice communication and GPS functions were integrated so as to got guidance of diagnosis, treatment and deliverance.Results: The system can real-timely collected, transfer and save the vital signs of wearers and forewarn abnormal vital signs of them. At the same time, the voice guidance and positioning could be implemented, and these function could actively forewarning at necessary time, therefore, it could timely treat and cure for wearers. Besides, it could provided speech communication function to achieve health monitoring and remote distance guidance for wearers.Conclusion: The system is convenient to wear and possesses series of powerful functions, and it has very high practical value for those with chronic ill or with special operations.

RESUMO

Immunoassay is of great importance in the field of clinical detection. Our group proposes the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ( ICP-MS) based immunoassay. Multiplex immunoassay can be realized by stable isotope tagging strategy combined with ICP-MS detection. Since then, large amount of researches in this field have been made at home and abroad, and the method has been proved applicable to the analysis of biological small molecules, proteins, nucleic acids and cells. In this article, the history and development of immunoassay, the characters of ICP-MS based immunoassay, single component and multiplex immunoassay, and the magnetic immunoassay that is recently fast developed are reviewed. The prospect of the developing tendency is also anticipated, hoping to provide references for the research in this field.

AIM:By optical coherence tomography to observe macular thickness change characteristics and foveal images of patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP).METHODS: From September 2014 to September 2016, 74 patients (148 eyes) with retinitis pigmentosa diagnosed in our hospital were selected, and 50 healthy subjects (100 eyes) as normal controls;two groups received optical coherence tomography and fundus camera detection.The images of the macular were obtained to observe and measure the thickness of the macular fovea and at 4mm temporal side, the center of papillo macular bundle.RESULTS:The results showed that: the thickness of the macular fovea and at 4mm temporal side of RP patients were the same as normal controls without statistically significant(P>0.05);the thickness of the center of papillo macular bundle was less than that of normal control with statistically significant (P<0.05).There were five types characteristics in OCT imges in RP patients: macular edema in 19 patients 38 eyes;retinal pigment epithelium and choroidal capillary thinning in 18 patients 36 eyes;retinal pigment epithelium atrophy in 12 patients 24 eyes;normal in 12 patients 24 eyes;different thickness of pigment epithelium layer in 13 patients 26 eyes.CONCLUSION: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) can be used to detect the macular lesions in a timely manner, to help understanding the development of the disease, and provide the clinical basis for the early diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of treatment with local skin flap after primary surgical resection of non melanoma skin cancer.Methods A total of 176 patients with head and facial skin cancer who were admitted into our hospital from September 2008 to September 2015 were divided into three groups according to different repair plans.Namely,the suture group (41 cases),the local skin flap group (81 cases) and the skin graft group (54 cases).The repair effect of the three groups were compared after the operation.Results The good rate was 68.39%(28/41) in the suture group,98.77%(80/81) in the local skin flap group,and 83.33%(45/54) in the skin graft group,and it was significantly higher than any of the other two groups with statistically significant difference(P0.05).The 3 groups were followed up for a period of 1 year,as a result,there was no recurrence and distant metastasis.Conclusion For patients with head and facial non melanoma skin cancer,repaired with local skin flap healing treatment after primary surgical resection can not only get high healing rate but also significant improvement of patient satisfaction rate.In addition,it can lower the rate of recurrence and distant metastasis after operation.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at thoracic Jiaji points (EX-B 2) on the Behavior Measurement Scale (BMS) score, and expressions of nestin and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in spinal cord in mice after spinal cord injury, and to explore the action mechanism of electroacupuncture in protecting nerves and recovering motor function.Method Ninety-six female C57BL/6 mice were randomized into a sham operation group, a spinal cord injury group, an electroacupuncture group, and an acupuncture group, 24 mice in each group. Except for the sham operation group, spinal cord injury at T9 level was induced in the other three groups. The electroacupuncture group was intervened by electroacupuncture at Jiaji points (EX-B 2) of T7 and T11, and the acupuncture group received manual acupuncture at the same acupoints. The intervention was conducted 15 min each time, once a day, with 1 d interval every 5 d, for a total of 28 d. The BMS score was evaluated respectively after 3 d, 7 d, 14 d, and 28 d intervention. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was adopted to detect the expression ofnestin in spinal cord, and immunofluorescence and Western blotting were used to detect the expression of GFAP in spinal cord.Result Respectively 14 d and 28 d after spinal cord injury, the main and auxiliary scores of BMS in the acupuncture group were significantly higher than those in the spinal cord injury group (P<0.05); 28 d after spinal cord injury, the main and auxiliary scores of BMS in the acupuncture group were significantly higher than those in the spinal cord injury group (P<0.05) and the auxiliary BMS score in the electroacupuncture group was significantly higher than that in the acupuncture group (P<0.05). Respectively 3 d, 7 d, and 14 d after spinal cord injury, the contents of nestin in the electroacupuncture group were obviously increased and significantly different from those in the spinal cord injury group (P<0.05). The nestin content of the acupuncture group was significantly higher than that of the spinal cord injury group 7 d and 14 d after spinal cord injury (P<0.05). The expression of GFAP in the electro-acupuncture group was significantly higher than that in the spinal cord injury group 3 d and 7 d after spinal cord injury (P<0.05); the inhibitions on the immunoreactivity of GFAP in the electroacupuncture group and acupuncture group were more significant than the inhibition in the spinal cord injury group 28 d after the injury (P<0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture at Jiaji points (EX-B 2) can promote the recovery of motor function after spinal cord injury, which is related to the enhancement of the expressions of nestin and GFAP within 7 d after the injury, and the two expressions are in a positive correlation. In the early stage of treatment, electroacupuncture can boost the activity of astrocytes to act as neural stem cells and inhibit the immunoreactivity of GFAP in the later stage to benefit the reconstruction of neurologic function.
