RESUMO
The prevalence rate of significant bacteriuria [colony count = 10 organisms/ml] among 534 Iraqi pregnant women attending Aadhamiya MCH center was 6.7%. Bacteriuria was found to have no relationship to the age of the pregnant women, duration of pregnancy, parity and past history of urinary tract infection. Approximately half of the patients with significant bacteriuria had symptoms of urinary tract infection. The most frequently encountered organism was Escheri chia coil which accounted for 75% of the isolates
