RESUMO

@#Among the second round of “double first-class” construction universities, 12 universities are in the process of building first-class pharmaceutical and traditional Chinese medicine disciplines. The aim is to explore the innovative development trend of these 12 universities, based on their information related to pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine in the past five years. The study used the PatSnap global patent database to search for pharmaceutical related patents applied by 12 universities from 2018 to 2022, and analyzed the information from perspectives such as application and authorization volume, technical themes, transfer and licensing status, and international patent situation. The results reveal that comprehensive universities and China Pharmaceutical University are superior to other pharmaceutical universities in terms of patent application volume and licensing rate. From the perspective of patent classification, most of the relevant patents involve the effective ingredients of drugs.Comprehensive universities and China Pharmaceutical University pay more attention to the research of anti-tumor drugs.Among all authorized patents, the quantity is insufficient, and most of them are exclusive licenses. The transfer of relevant rights mostly occurs between universities and enterprises. In terms of international patent applications, comprehensive universities dominate in terms of quantity, but the total amount is still insufficient. In the future innovation and development process of “double first-class” universities, it is necessary to improve the awareness of patent protection and layout, attract relevant talents, give full play to the advantages of university intellectual property information service centers, and promote the transformation of university achievements.

RESUMO

General Biology is basic discipline in Environmental Science and Engineering, which lays a basis for the specialized courses in this major. As the course involves a wide range of knowledge, traditional "cramming education" cannot attract the interest of students. To meet the needs of talents against the backdrop of "double world-class project", our teaching team applied the "double-cycle teaching mode" of blended teaching in the first class along with ideological education, professional education, innovation and entrepreneurship education in the second class of this course. With this method, major headway has been made in this course. This study is expected to serve as a reference for reform in other relevant courses.

RESUMO

@#To promote the construction of first-class disciplines of "Double First-Class" universities in China, the construction of a comprehensive evaluation system was explored, so as to provide suggestions for the development of these disciplines.Essential Science Indicators (ESI), InCites and Derwent Innovation Index databases, together with range transformation method and entropy weight method, were employed to analyze the data in the field of pharmacology and toxicology from some universities; the construction approaches and index performance of the system were studied. The score performances of the sample universities in the index system are different from their ESI rankings, suggesting that the system has certain practical value.ESI rankings cannot fully reflect the development levels of disciplines, while the multi-dimensional index evaluation system can overcome this shortcoming to a certain extent. This paper establishes an evaluation system with published papers and granted patents as the main evaluation objects, covering as many multi-angle indicators of scientific research output as possible, and trying to overcome the disadvantages due to lack of information in a single or few index systems. It is suggested that universities should formulate their discipline development plans from the perspectives of publishing high-quality original research results, leading or widely participating in scientific research cooperation, strengthening university-enterprise cooperation, promoting the application of research results, promoting open science and encouraging open access.

RESUMO

Life sciences are the disciplines most closely related with human beings. As experimental disciplines, life sciences develop rapidly and highly intersect in many scientific fields. Under the "double first-class" initiative, the comprehensive development-oriented talent training system has put forward an urgent need for life sciences literacy and comprehensive ability training of college students. Taking the reform of liberal education curriculum system as an opportunity, we developed a series of eight life sciences practical liberal courses for students with non-biology majors. The courses cover all sub-disciplines or directions of life sciences, and aim to foster interdisciplinary talents with life sciences knowledge and literacy, as well as practical and innovative abilities. These courses could serve as references for experimental teaching centers in colleges and universities to set up practical liberal and experimental courses.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo investigate the level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the peripheral blood of patients with liver cirrhosis and portal vein thrombosis (PVT) and its clinical significance in the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis with PVT. MethodsA total of 60 patients with liver cirrhosis and PVT who were followed up or hospitalized in the outpatient service of The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January 2017 to December 2019 were enrolled as PVT group, and 161 patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension who had no thrombi were enrolled as LC group. Related clinical data were collected, including sex, age, white blood cell count, platelet count, total bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase, albumin, prothrombin time, international normalized ratio, and antithrombin Ⅲ. Double-antibody sandwich ELISA was used to measure the serum level of VEGF. The t-test was used for comparison of normally distributed continuous data between two groups, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison of non-normally distributed continuous data between two groups; the chi-square test was used for comparison of categorical data between two groups. The Pearson correlation test was used for correlation analysis, and a binary logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the risk factors for PVT in patients with liver cirrhosis. ResultsThe comparison of baseline indices showed that there was a significant difference in serum VEGF between the PVT group and the LC group (P<0.05). The comparison of the patients with Child-Pugh class A, B or C disease showed that there was a significant difference in serum VEGF between the two groups (Z=3.749, 5.469, all P<0.05). The stepwise logistic regression analysis showed that only serum VEGF (odds ratio=1004, 95% confidence interval: 1.003-1.006, P<0.001) was an independent risk factor for liver cirrhosis with PVT. ConclusionPatients with liver cirrhosis and PVT tend to have a high level of VEGF in peripheral blood, which provides guidance for clinical diagnosis.

RESUMO

Many retrospective and cohort studies have shown that laparoscopic total gastrectomy(LTG) has advantages of less trauma, quicker recovery and better incision than open total gastrectomy, and is not inferior to laparotomy in safety and the short- and long-term outcomes, so it has been widely applied. However there is still a lack of high level evidence-based basis. At present, several prospective multicenter clinical studies are being carried out in China, Japan and South Korea which have high incidence of gastric cancer to demonstrate the safety and feasibility of LTG and evaluate its long-term outcomes as well. A multicenter randomized controlled clinical trial comparing the safety of laparoscopic and open radical gastrectomy(CLASS-02 Research) conducted by Professor Sun Yihong, Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, is under way. The subjects of this study were the patients with clinical stage I(, the lesion locating in the gastric body, gastric fundus, or the esophagogastric junction (not involving the cardia dentate line), who were expected to be treated with total gastrectomy. The primary outcome measures were early operative morbidity and mortality and the secondary outcome measures were early postoperative recovery course and postoperative hospital stay. It is believed that results of the study will provide a high level evidence-based basis for the safety of LTG. The ongoing JCOG-1401 study in Japan aims to assess the feasibility and safety of LTG and LAPG for the treatment of early gastric cancer. LTG (Roux-en-Y reconstruction) or LAPG (double-tract or jejunal interposition reconstruction) will be performed in patients with clinical stage I( gastric cancer in this study. The primary endpoint of the study is the incidence of anastomotic leakage, and the secondary endpoints are proportion of patients converted to open surgery, the time to the first flatus, analgesic requirement, postoperative body temperature, the overall survival and relapse-free survival. The follow-up time is at least 5 years, and the results will also effectively evaluate the long-term efficacy of LTG and LAPG in the treatment for early gastric cancer. No.10 lymph nodes dissection of D2 total gastrectomy is a major difficulty in LTG. Japanese JCOG-0110 study has showed that for proximal gastric cancer patients without involvement of the greater curvature of the stomach, routine splenectomy for No.10 lymph nodes dissection is not recommended. In this regard, Professor Huang Changming, Union Hospital of Fujian Medical University, led the ongoing CLASS-04 study to evaluate the safety, feasibility and clinical efficacy of laparoscopic No.10 lymph node dissection with spleen preservation for patients with locally advanced gastric cancer locating in the upper part of the stomach. The ongoing CLASS-02 and JCOG-1401 studies will answer whether LTG is suitable for the treatment of early gastric cancer. We believe that in the absence of high level evidence-based basis, LTG should be applied cautiously to advanced gastric cancer, and LTG for early gastric cancer patients should also be operated by experienced surgeons.
