RESUMO

Objective To observe the effects of therapy of tonifying kidney and replenishing essence on protein expression profile in testes of aged rats.Methods Twenty male SD rats with 22 months old were equally randomized into the blank control group and the treatment group.The treatment group received gastric gavage of herbs at the dose of 0.05g?kg-1.d-1,which has the actions of tonifying kidney and replenishing essence.The treatment lasted 60 days.After treatment,the right testes were taken out from the rats,and the differentially expressed proteins in the rats testes of two groups were analyzed by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE).Results Compared with the model group,obvious changes were found in 7 kinds of differentially expressed proteins in rats testes of the treatment group,of which 4 kinds were up-regulated and 3 down-regulated.After digestion and identification by the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrum,5 kinds from the 7 kinds of proteins were identified as phosphatidyl ethanolamine-binding protein(PEBP),heat shock 70 kDa protein 8,triose-phosphate isomerase,glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH),and glutathione S-transferase Mu 1(GSTM1-1).Conclusion The anti-aging mechanism of therapy of tonifying kidney and replenishing essence is probably related with the regulation of testis protein expression in aged rats.

RESUMO

[Objective] To observe the reversal action of qi strengthening, blood activating and phlegm removing (QS -BA - PR) therapy for senile left ventricular hypertrophy (SLVH). [Methods] Ninety - five cases of SLVH were allocated to QS - BA - PR therapy group (Group A, n = 65) and metoprolol group (Group B, n = 30) . Cardiac ultrasound Doppler, cardiac function, hemorheology, atherosclerotic indexes and nail fold microcirculation were examined before and after treatment. RESUMO

Objective To observe the effect of Modified Erzhi Pills (MEP) on free radicals and immunity in D-galactose-induced aging rats.Methods Sixty SD rats were randomized into 5 groups: normal group, model group, high-, middle-and low-dosage MEP groups (treated with gastric gavage of MEP 11.5, 7.0 and 3.5gkg-1d-1 respectively). Except the normal group, the rats in other groups received intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose (300mgkg-1d-1) to induce sub-acute aging rat models. After treatment for 2 months, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde(MDA)levels in whole blood were detected, and the serum level of interleukin-2 (IL-2) and spleen index were examined.Results SOD level decreased, MDA increased, and IL-2 level and spleen index were decreased in the model group(P

RESUMO

Objective To observe the effects of protein and anthraquinones glycosides from Radix Polygoni Multiflori(RPM) on learning and memory as well as associated enzymes and metabolites in mice with D-galactose-induced aging.Methods Eighty Kunming mice were equally randomized into 8 groups: normal group,model group,vitamin E(90mg?kg-1?d-1) group,high-and low-dose RPM protein(20 and5 mg?kg-1?d-1 respectively) groups,high-and low-dose RPM anthraquinone glycoside(28 and 7mg?kg-1?d-1 respectively) groups,combination(low-dose RPM protein and low-dose RPM anthraquinone glycosides)group.Except the normal group,the mice in other groups received subcutaneous injection of D-galactose to indue the aging model.The learning rate of mice was detected with trisection radiation maze,memory was evaluated by one-time passive avoidance response,cerebral superoxide dismustase(SOD) and monoamine oxidase(MAO) activities as well as malondialdehyde(MDA)content were detected with ultraviolet spectrophotometer,and hepatic lipofuscin(LF) content was examined with fluorescence spectrophotometer.Results Memory of aged mice was much improved in high-dose RPM protein group(P
