RESUMO

@#Objective To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture on head Shen- acupoints on cognitive dysfunction after stroke. Methods 35 cases with cognitive dysfunction after stroke were divided into treatment group (n=19) and control group (n=16). The control group received conventional treatment, while the treatment group received electroacupuncture on Sishencong (EX-HN1), Shenting (GV24) and Benshen (GB13) in addition. They were assessed with Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) before and after 4-week treatment. Results The scores of MMSE and MoCA increased more in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of visuospatial abilities and executive functions, attention and concentration, calculation, memory and orientation of MoCA improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Electroacupuncture on head Shen-acupoints can improve cognitive function in patients after stroke.

RESUMO

@#Objective To explore the effects of electroacupuncture in different time on the variations of fractional anisotropy (FA) mean value in diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) in spinal cord injured (SCI) rats. Methods 48 Sprague-Dawley rats were performed with Allen's method by NYU blow device, resulting in T10-11 SCI. They were divided into groups according to random table. Control group (n=16) received no treatment. Experimental group (Group A, n=32) received electric stimulation in the scalp surface projection area of motor area and local electric stimulation at damaged site. Group A was divided into Group A1 (n=16) and Group A2 (n=16) again. Group A1 received electric stimulation 3 days after SCI, while Group A2 received electric stimulation 2 weeks after SCI. They were assessed with Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) scores and routine MRI and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). Results There was no significant difference in BBB score among all the groups at the first week (P>0.05). BBB scores of the Groups A1 and A2 were significantly different from the control group at the second and fourth week (P<0.001), and the Groups A1 from A2 (P<0.001). 2~4 hours and 3 days after modeling, there was no significant difference in the FA value among the groups (P>0.05). There was significant difference among the Groups A1, A2 and the control group at the fourth week (P<0.001). Group A1 was better than Group A2 (P<0.001). DTT images of all the groups were successful reconstructed, the Groups A1 and A2 repaired better than the control group. Conclusion The earlier electroacupuncture is taken after spinal cord injury, the better the outcome is.

RESUMO

0bjective To observe the different brain activation of acupuncture and electroacupuncture on healthy subjects and healthy subjects. Methods The different brain activation involved in heroin addiction between healthy subjects and addicts was detected by fMRI.Acupuncture point used in present study Was Zusanli (ST 36).Results Different brain activations between healthy subjects and addicts during electroacupuncture were hypothalamus(X0,Y2,Z9,t=7.36,P<0.01),anterior cingulate(X5,Y49,Z8,t=4.11,P<0.01),tempo-ral gyrus(X61,Y12,Z8,t=3.05,P<0.01).The difference of activated regions during conventional acupuncture between healthy subjects and heroin addicts was thalamus(X2,Y16,Z12,t=2.87,P<0.01),parahippocampus (X17,Y52,Z3,t=3.14,P<0.01),and hypothalamus(X0,Y2,Z9,t=6.98,P<0.01).Conclusion Regions with significant activation detected by fMRI are different during acupuncture in heroin addicts and in the healthy subjects.Notably, the hypothalamus activation is more robust in the addicts than in the healthy subjects during ac-upuncture stimulation.

RESUMO

@#Objective To study the application of waveforms in treatment of peripheral facial paralysis with electroacupuncture. Methods 66 patients with peripheral facial paralysis were divided into two groups: treatment group (34 cases) and control group(32 cases). All the patients were acupunctured at the similar points with electroacupuncture, while the disperse-dense wave and the discontinuous wave were used successively in the treatment group, and the disperse-dense wave was used alone in the control group. Results There were significant differences between the two groups in the total effective rate and the days for cure (P<0.01). Conclusion The effect of alternate disperse-dense wave and discontinuous wave is superior to that of disperse-dense wave alone in electroacupuncture treatment for peripheral facial paralysis.

RESUMO

@#ObjectiveTo study the effect of the electroacupuncture on patients of vascular dementia (VD). Methods68 patients suffering from VD were randomly divided into two groups, the electroacupuncture group(34 cases) and the medicine group(dihydroergotoxine, DHET, 34 cases). Scores of HDS R(Hasegawa Dementia Scale ), FAQ(Functional Activity Questionaire), ADL(Activity of Daily Living)and Nervous Dysfunction were examined and compared before and after treatment. The course was 42 days. ResultsThe total effective rate was 79.41% in electroacupuncture group and 20.58% in DHET group(P<0.01). All the above mentioned indices were more significantly improved in electroacupuncture group than those in DHET group(P<0.01). ConclusionsIt suggests that the electroacupuncture may improve the VD patients in intelligence, ability of functional activity and quality of life, etc.
