RESUMO

Objective To explore the insomnia status and the influencing factors of navy soldiers during escort in Aden Gulf. Methods Totally 476 soldiers were collected by random cluster sampling method. The mental health status of the soldiers was assessed by Eysenck personality questionnaire-revised, short scale for Chinese (EPQ-RSC) and symptom check list-90 (SCL-90) at 1 week before the escort. At 2 months after the long voyage, the insomnia status and general situation were assessed using the insomnia severity index (ISI) scale and the general situation questionnaire, respectively. The multivariate linear regression analysis was conducted to analyze the influencing factors of insomnia. Results A total of 474 valid questionnaires were collected. During the escort, 44.1% (209/474) of the soldiers suffered from insomnia of different extents, with 28.1% (136/474) subthreshold insomnia, 13.5% (64/474) moderate insomnia and 1.9% (9/474) severe insomnia. The multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the times of escort, night duties and the frequency of oral ulcer were the influencing factors of insomnia (R2=0.68; standardized regression coefficients were -0.101, 0.111 and 0.172, respectively; all P<0.05). Meantime, emotional stability also influenced insomnia to a small extent (R2=0.03, standardized regression coefficient=0.173, P<0.05). Conclusion The sleep quality of the soldiers during long-time escort is severely influenced, with high prevalence of insomnia. The main influencing factors include the times of escort, night duties and the frequency of oral ulcer, and emotional stability may also be an influencing factor.

RESUMO

Objective To analyze the spectrum and characteristics of common diseases in Chinese escort navy fleets in Aden Gulf, providing references for optimizing the allocation of medical resources and improving the efficiency of medical service. Methods A total of 3 068 navy soldiers who served in four escort missions between 2013 and 2016 in Aden Gulf were included in the present study, and they were marked as batch A, B, C and D according to the task sequence. The records of outpatient and emergency departments, data from weekly medical report and data from summary of health service were collected for analyzing the circadian disease incidence, morbidity per day and the composition of diseases. Results The incidence of diseases took a declining tendency from the beginning to the end of the mission. The latter two escort fleets had a significantly lower morbidity per day than the former two escort fleets (P0. 05). Conclusion With the normalization of the escort missions, the morbidity per day of the escort soldiers declines in the later escort fleets. More attention should be given to improve the sleeping quality and reduce the occurrence of insomnia while still keeping an eye on common diseases.

RESUMO

Objective To compare the diagnostic significance of pleural SLPI,IFN-γ and ADA for differenti-ating TPE from pleural effusions with the other etiologies. Methods Pleural effusion samples were obtained from 93 patients who were divided into the following groups: tuberculous pleural effusion, malignant pleural effusion, bacterial pleural effusion and transudative pleural effusion. The pleural effusion and/or serum levels of SLPI , IFN-γand ADA were determined. Results 1.The concentrations of SLPI, IFN-γand ADA in tuberculous pleural effusion was higher than that in malignant group, bacterial group and transudative group. 2. The diagnostic value of SLPI, IFN-γor ADA for the diagnosis of tuberculous PE is high respectively. The combinations of SLPI, IFN-γand/or ADA gained the more valuable diagnostic performance. Conclusion Pleural SLPI, IFN-γand ADA may be helpful for the differential diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion and the other pleural effusion. The combinations of SLPI or/and IFN-γor/and ADA further increased diagnostic value.
