Abstract The study of crime has incorporated special analysis as a relevant cause and, in this case, it helped determine how geographical factors had an influence in the concentration of motorcycles theft in the Colombian Department of Valle del Cauca. To meet this target, a mixed methodology having triangulated special econometrics techniques with the focal group was adopted. The first one examined 25 variables grouped into five thematic subjects that, through the use of panel data and statistical methods for the selection of variables, the Least Square Dummy Variables (LSDV) to estimate causation relations of seven representative variables with the motorcycle theft; the second one was applied to two work groups held in Cali and Popayan, and it was possible to establish the criminal system and identify the destination and final use given to the vehicles. The results showed that the behavior of crime here is of a regional nature involving this Department and Cauca; the distribution is non-random but dependent on the vicinity of the municipalities and the connecting highway network. This evidences that the strategies implemented to counteract them did not manage to detect the phenomenon expansion and adaptation to that context.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the characteristics of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with symptom aggravated caused by spinal manipulative therapy (SMT).

METHODSDetailed clinical profiles of a total number of 10 LDH patients with symptoms aggravated after SMT were reviewed including 5 males and 5 females with age from 46 to 68 years old, 7 patients of them were more than 50 years old. The clinical data of 10 patients were analyzed involving age, gender, clinical symptoms, signs, imaging findings, surgical treatment and prognosis. Laminectomy and discectomy were performed, and follow-up was carried out in all patients.

RESULTSThe duration of symptoms in all the patients before SMT was 4 to 15 years. After the therapy, an acute exacerbation of back and radicular pain was observed within 24 hours. MRI showed intervertebral disc herniation, 7 patients were observed in L4-L5. The time internal between the exacerbation of presentation and surgery was 23.1 days. No perioperative complications occurred. All the patients were relieved of radicular pain a few days after surgery. During postoperative follow-up, all patients regained the ability to walk; Eight patients reported a complete resolution of presentation and the rest two patients were significantly improved.

CONCLUSIONSSMT should be prohibited in some LDH patients to prevent neurological damages, in whom there are 5 possible risk factors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship between several common traits-identify characteristics of decoction pieces and laboratory test results, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of line inspection work. METHODS:Combined with the Chi-nese Pharmacopoeia(2010 edition)standards and traditional inspection experience, and collected decoction pieces, the accuracy of traits-identification points were inferred and increased by the ways of TLC,contents, aggravated powder, sulfur dioxide residues , staining and extract. RESULTS:The majority of decoction pieces had the relationship between character identification points and laboratory test results and a small part didn’t. CONCLUSIONS:This study has cleared the identification accuracy of several com-mon decoction pieces, and other parts of the differential diagnosis needs further exploration.

RESUMO

Behçet’s disease (BD) is a multi-organ involved inflammatory disorder described by recurrent oral ulcers and other systemic manifestations. Almost all the clinical manifestations of BD are believed to be due to vasculitis. On the other hand, the cerebral arteries are rarely involved. Moyamoya disease (MMD) is an unusual chronic cerebrovascular disorder that is described by bilateral progressive stenosis or occlusion of the internal carotid artery and an abnormal collateral vascular network. A 32-year-old woman with MMD was referred for fever, oral pain, and diarrhea, and was diagnosed with BD. Her MMD was aggravated during treatment with high dose steroids to control the intestinal BD and a reduction in the MMD medication due to gastrointestinal bleeding. This is the first reported case of intestinal BD in a patient previously diagnosed with MMD, who experienced aggravation of her MMD after the cessation of MMD medication due to aggravated intestinal BD.

RESUMO

Though myocardial perfusion was usually expected to improve after coronary artery bypass graft(CABG) surgery, some myocardial segments were aggravated after operation, as we compared perfusion changes on postoperative SPECT with preoperative ones. In this study, we evaluated perfusion changes after operation in rest and stress myocardial SPCET in 44 patients (M:F=25:19, age 57.1 year +/- 8.2) who had CABG before and 3 months after operation. We tried to find out possible causes for perfusion aggravation with multivariate logistic regression analysis regarding whether bypass graft was artery or vein and which coronary artery territory was operated. Among 616 myocardial segments which were operated, 89(14.4%) aggravated after operation In the univariate analysis, myocardial segments in the left circumflex arteries(I Cx) aggravated more often(p<0.01) than others and segments having operative angioplasty did less often(p<0.01). Multivariate logistic regression revealedthat LCx was risk factor for perfusion aggravation [odds ratio=2.54 (95% confidence interval : 1.53-4.22, p<0.01)] However, this was not the case when we analysed in terms of arterial territories. Among 106 coronary rterial territories which were operated. 27(25.5%) aggravated. The territories having aggravated had similar characterstics regarding whether they received arterial or venous grafts. Angioplasty and whether the operated territories were left anterior descending. Right coronary or left circumflex arteries. In conclusion, myocardial segments in the left circumflex artery tended to aggravate more often after bypass surgery than the others. In short-term comparison of perfusion after surgery. We could not find any tendency that arterial or venous fraft was associated with more frequency of the affravation of perfusion after operation.
