Redo-left Ventricular Volume Reduction Surgery in a Patient with Left Ventricular Aneurysm: 1 case / 대한흉부외과학회지

Surgical anterior ventricular endocardial restoration (SAVER) is a technique that improves hemodynamic status by excluding akinetic or dyskinetic portions of the left ventricle, restores the ventricle to normal elliptical shape and reduces ventricular wall tension to normal level in patients with acute anterior wall myocardial infarction that accompanies aneurysm. We performed redo-SAVER procedure in a 40-year old man with remodeled dilated ventricle who had already underwent LV aneurysmectomy 12 years earlier, and the results were satisfactory.

Left Ventricular Pseudoaneurysm after Surgery for Infective Endocarditis with Annular Abscess: A case report / 대한흉부외과학회지

We report a surgical case of 39-year-old male with a pseudoaneurysm of the left ventricle. Four years ago, the patient underwent aortic and mitral valve replacements with mechanical valves and abscess removal for infective endocarditis with annular abscess. Recent echocardiography demonstrated a communication between left ventricle and abscess pocket, and the size of pocket increased further at the follow-up echocardiography. The patient underwent patch closure of the defect between left ventricle and pseudoaneurysm located at the aortomitral fibrous continuity, under the cardiopulmonary bypass and cardioplegia. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged on the 9th postoperative day.

Management of Postinfarct Posterobasal Left Ventricular Aneurysm A Case Report / 대한흉부외과학회지

The surgical treatment of postinfarct aneurysm on the posterobasal aspect of left ventricle is seldom reported compared to apical aneurysm although the actual incidence is higher than expected, partly because of the complexity of the operation and unpredictable postoperative results. Here, we present a case of postinfarct posterobasal left ventricular aneurysm in which endoventricular circular patch plasty technique was applied successfully. The methodology is described with review of the relevant literature.

Traumatic Aneurysm Involving Left Ventricle and Descending Thoracic Aorta / 대한흉부외과학회지

Traumatic aneurysm of both the thoracic aorta and the left ventricle are extremely rare in children because it is characterized by high mortality. We report a case which we experi- enced recently with sucessful outcome. A Five-year-old boy had a blunt trauma by bongo bus. He had pulmonary hemorrage and pericardial effusion complicated by multiorgan failure threatening his life. Aneurysm of LV and Descending aorta were showed by 2-D echocardiogram and MRI. The patient underwent successful corrective surgery 2 and half momths after trauma, the postoperative status of this patient was uneventful, now he is being followed up the OPD.
