RESUMO

Objective:To improve the understanding of the clinical features of toxic encephalopathy associated with diquat poisoning. Methods:This study collected and analyzed the diagnosis and treatment process of 7 patients with acute diquat poisoning combined with central nervous system complications admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from April 2021 to April 2022. "Diquat" and "Poisoning" were used as keywords to search in CNKI, Wanfang database and PubMed database, and the literature of previous cases was reviewed for summary analysis. Results:Among the 7 patients in our hospital, there were 2 males and 5 females, with an average age of 31 years (range14-57) and an average dose of 23.14 g [(10-40)g]. During the treatment, 3 patients developed irritability and convulsions, 3 patients occurred coma, and one had generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Four patients died and 3 survived, of which 2 patients returned to normal life and study, and one remained abnormal mental behavior (currently in long-term follow-up). All three survivors developed neurological symptoms later than those who died, and were awake about 30 days after taking the drug. Conclusions:Toxic encephalopathy associated with diquat poisoning has rapid progression, poor prognosis and high mortality. This study found that the survival rate of patients with > 48 h of first onset of neurological symptoms is much higher than that of patients with ≤ 48 h of first onset of neurological symptoms, while sex, age, estimated oral dose, and type of presentation of neurological symptoms for the first time have little effect on the survival rate of hospital discharge. The earlier neurological symptoms appear, the greater the likelihood of a poor prognosis.

RESUMO

Objective To study the influence of cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) adhesion on migration of tumor cells regulated by ECM stiffness. Methods The cellular Potts model (CPM) was established to simulate tumor cell growth and cellular immune feedback system. The effects from mechanical behavior of cells on cell-ECM adhesion were observed, and the migration of tumor cells under different ECM was analyzed. Results The ECM stiffness could influence the migration rate of tumor cells. The change of ECM stiffness regulated the adhesion force between cells and ECM, and the change of adhesion force would influence the migration rate of cells. Conclusions The migration and distribution patterns of cells are closely related to the adhesion and stiffness of ECM. The increase in ECM stiffness can effectively promote the migration rate of tumor cells, and the further increase in ECM stiffness inhibits the migration of tumor cells. These findings may further reveal dynamic changes of ECM, adhesion and mechanical performance of tumor cell migration.

RESUMO

Objective To study the effect of intercellular adhesion of tumor cells on immune response of human body. Methods A tumor growth-cellular immune feedback model was developed based on cellular Potts model (CPM) to simulate the progression of tumor cells and the cellular immune feedback system, and the influence of adhesion between tumor cells on the immune system was analyzed. Results Under the condition of tumor intercellular adhesion with normal intensity, tumor cells could escape when the immune system was weak and be eliminated when the immune system was strong. Under the condition of tumor intercellular adhesion with low intensity, tumor cells could escape when the immune system was weak, while exhibited behavior of oscillation and could not be eliminated when the immune system was strong. Conclusions Higher adhesion between tumor cells inhibited escape of tumor cells from the immune system, while lower adhesion between tumor cells could effectively help the tumor escape killing from the immune system. When the tumor was extremely spread, the immune system could not completely eliminate tumor cells.

RESUMO

With high-tech, high added-value, and independent intellectual property rights, Chinese patent medicine (CPM) is one of the most important exporting categories in Chinese materia medica (CMM), and its overseas development has become an important symbol of international recognition for CMM. With the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the acceleration of bilateral economic integration, CMM trade between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is facing with great potential and opportunities. ASEAN market is bound to be a vital breakthrough in the globalization of CPM and has strategic significance for its transnational operation. Since ten member countries of ASEAN have obvious differences in their economic development, market size, and medical and health levels, this paper aims to establish evaluation index system, further subdivide the ASEAN market by means of principal component analysis and hierarchical clustering method, and put forward different marketing strategies for each segmented markets including developed market, emerging market, potential market, and secondary market, hoping to provide useful advice and reference for the globalization of CPM in ASEAN or even in European and American main market.

RESUMO

Central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) is a neurologic disorder that is usually related to rapid correction of hyponatremia and chronic alcoholism. CPM involves concentrated, symmetric, noninflammatory demyelination within the central pons; this pathology also occurs in extrapontine regions. Frequently observed clinical manifestations are sudden weakness, dysphagia, dysarthria, loss of consciousness, and locked-in syndrome. We describe herein a case of CPM predominated by cerebellar signs without typical symptoms, but with involvement of the cerebellum or cerebellar peduncle.

RESUMO

This study evaluated the sealing ability of apical plugs fabricated with gray MTA AngelusTM sealer, CPM TM sealer and MBPc sealer. The root canals of 98 extracted single-rooted human teeth were instrumented with #5 to #1 Gates Glidden drills according to the crown-down technique until the #1 drill could pass through the apical foramen. The specimens were then prepared with K-files, starting with an ISO 50 until an ISO 90 could be visualized 1 mm beyond the apex. After root canal preparation, the external surface of each root was rendered impermeable and roots were assigned to 3 experimental groups (n = 30), which received a 5-mm thick apical plug of gray MTA AngelusTM, CPM TM and MBPc, and two control groups (n=4). The remaining portion of the canal in the experimental groups was filled by the lateral condensation technique. The teeth of each group, properly identified, were fixed on utility wax by their crowns and were placed in plastic flasks, leaving the apex free and facing upward. The flasks were filled with 0.2 percent Rhodamine B solution, pH 7.0, so as to completely cover the root apex of all teeth. The sealing ability was analyzed by measuring 0.2 percent Rhodamine B leakage after all groups had been maintained in this solution for 48 hours. Data were analyzed statistically by Kruskal-Wallis test and Dunn test with a=5 percent. The results showed that, among the tested materials used for fabrication of apical plugs, MBPc sealer had the least amount of leakage with statistically significant difference (p<0.05).

RESUMO

Central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) is a demyelinating disorder that was first described by Adams et al. in 1959 in patients with a history of alcoholism and malnutrition. It is characterized by delirium, quadriparesis, pseudobulbar palsy, and dysarthria. A subgroup of patients at risk for CPM are chronic alcoholics, malnutrition, diabetes, liver transplantation, hepatic disease, advanced age. Although the cause and pathogenesis remains unclear, but many studies have implicated that the rapid correction of hyponatremia is the major factor associated with CPM. But CPM without hyponatremia has been rarely reported. Diagnosis is confirmed by MR image. Here we present one case of CPM without electrolyte disturbance after alcohol withdrawal in a chronic alcoholic with literature reviews.

RESUMO

Objective To study the effect of con tinuous passive motion (CPM) on joint function after arthroscopy in the knee jo int. Methods Arthroscopy examinations and operations were performed in 53 patients. They were divided into study and control groups based on the use or not of CPM immediately in the postoperative period. The cont rol group consisted of 25 patients treated without postoperative CPM and the stu dy group consisted of 28 patients treated with CPM postoperatively. Range of mot ion (ROM) and the comprehensive function score of the knee joint were evaluated preoperatively, at discharge and at three months after operation. Results There were statistically significant differences in the f unction score of the knee joint between the two groups at discharge. The mean f lexion and extension in the study group were 90.64??16.57? and -0.71??3.78 ?, respectively, compared to 69.40??15.17? and -4.32??4.71? in the contro l group. The mean of the comprehensive function score of the knee joint in the c ontrol group were 11.24.compared to 8.89 in the study group. Seventy-five perce nt (21 cases) of the patients in the CPM group and 24% (6 cases)of patients in t he control group had achieved 90? of flexion at the time of hospital discharge. Conclusion CPM had enhanced the therapeutic effects of arthroscopy in the knee joint and shortened the length of stay of the patie nts in the hospital. Further investigation is needed for evaluating the long-te rm effect of CPM.
