RESUMO

Objective To observe the effect of catgut implantation at acupoint(CIAA)on the learning and memory function,hippocampal microangiogenesis,and the mRNA and protein expression of angiopoietin-1(Ang-1)/vascular endothelialgrowth factor(VEGF)and its receptor TEK tyrosine kinase(TIE2)/VEGF receptor 2(VEGFR2)in rats with vascular dementia(VD).To explore the mechanism of catgut implantation at acupoint in preventing and treating VD.Methods Using a random number table,VD rats were divided into a model group,a nimodipine group,and an catgut implantation at acupoint group,and a sham operation group was set up,with 10 rats in each group.On the 7th day after surgery,the treatment groups were given catgut implantation at acupoint and nimodipine gastric lavage for 21 days.After treatment,Morris water maze behavioral test was performed.HE staining was used to observe hippocampal CA1 tissue.CD34 immunohistochemical staining was used to detect hippocampal microvascular density(MVD).Real-time PCR and Western blotting were used to detect the mRNA and protein expression of Ang-1/VEGF and its receptor TIE2/VEGFR2 in the hippocampus.Results Compared with the model group,the average escape latency of the other groups was significantly shortened,and the target quadrant residence time was significantly prolonged(P<0.01,P<0.05).Compared with the model group,the number of nucleolus and well-formed pyramidal cells in hippocampal CA1 area of the catgut implantation at acupoint group and the nimodipine group increased in varying degrees,and they were arranged more closely,with only a few cells scattered and swollen.In the sham surgery group,a few CD34 positive cells were scattered.The treatment groups had more closely distributed CD34 positive cells with significant staining compared to the model group.The MVD of the model group was significantly higher than that of the sham surgery group(P<0.01).Both nimodipine group and catgut implantation at acupoint group had higher MVD than the model group(P<0.05,P<0.01).Compared with the sham surgery group,the mRNA and protein expression of Ang-1/VEGF and its receptor TIE2/VEGFR2 in the model group increased significantly(P<0.01,P<0.05).Compared with the model group,both nimodipine group and catgut implantation at acupoint group had higher mRNA and protein expression of Ang-1/VEGF and its receptor TIE2/VEGFR2(P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion Catgut implantation at acupoint can improve the learning and memory abilities in VD rats,promote hippocampal microvascular angiogenesis,which may be related to the up-regulation of Ang-1/VEGF and its receptor TIE2/VEGFR2 mRNA and protein expression.

Objective To observe the effect of catgut implantation at acupoint on treating cerebrovascular epilepsy and discuss the therapeutic mechanism. Methods 58 patients were divided into an observation group and a control group. The control group was treated with sodium valproate, and the observation group was treated with catgut implantation at acupoint on the basis of the control group.Epilepsy scoring, sodium valproate adverse reactions, the change of blood concentrations of sodium valproate and curative effect evaluation and so on were observed before and after the treatment. Results The basic control and excellent rate in the observation group were 16.7%and 73.3%, better than the control group of 10.7%and 53.6% respectively. The epilepsy scoring and sodium valproate adverse reactions after treatment in the observation group were superior to the control group [observation group is(5.05±1.5),(5.09±1.53),control group is(6.40±1.74),(10.85±1.91),P<0.05]. The number of patients with blood concentrations of sodium valproate in range 50-100 mg/L after treatment was increased in the observation group(Z=2.07, P=0.038). Conclusion Catgut implantation at acupoint combined sodium valproate was more effective than sodium valproate in treating cerebrovascular epilepsy, which can obviously alleviate the adverse reaction of drugs and increase blood concentrations of sodium valproate.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of catgut implantation at acupoint for acute ulcerative colitis and its safety.Methods Reference to Medline, EMbase, Cochrane Library, CBM, CNKI, VIP and Articles database, two independent investigators extracted data according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, evaluated quality of included literature quality with criteria of the Cochrane Collaboration of randomized controlled trials, Meta analyzed the result by RevMan 5.2 software.Results Eight documents and 626 cases of patients were included. The clinical efficacy of Catgut Implantation group[RR=1.13,95%CI(1.05,1.20)] was better than the control group. Eight documents did not report complete remission rate, in which one reported recurrence rate, and the difference between Catgut Implantation group and control group was not statistically significant[RR=1.50, 95%CI(0.27,8.34)]. In the included documents, four didn’t show significant adverse reactions, three did not mention safety or adverse reactions, and two reported adverse reactions. In Catgut Implantation group, one had rejection, one got infection, one had halo pin, while one had halo pin and some patients experienced nausea, impaired liver function in control group.Conclusion Catgut Implantation on acute ulcerative colitis is better in terms of improving clinical efficacy. However, as the sample size is too small and drug safety is not clear, high-quality randomized controlled trials is still needed for further validation.

RESUMO

Objective To study the effect of catgut implantation at acupoint on insulin resistance of simple obesity.Methods All patients were separated into the treatment group(catgut implantation group)and the control group(acupuncture group)with 30 cases in each group.Acupoints of zhongwan,tianshu,qihai,shangjuxu,were selected and needled for 3 months.Such indexes as body weight,waistline,hip circumference,body mass index(BMI),fasting blood glucose(FBG),insulin and insulin resistance(IR) before and after treatment were observed.Results Both groups showed obvious anti-obesity effect to simple obesity,manifested by significant differences(P<0.05)at the indexes of body weight,waistline BMI and appetite before and after treatment.Self-comparison in each group showed such indexes as BFS,insulin and IR were significantly decreased after treatment than those before treatment (P<0.05)There was no significant difference at the above-mentioned indexes between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions Catgut implantation at acupoint can reduce fat for simple obesity patients by controlling the level of fasting blood sugar,fasting blood insulin and IR in patients.
