RESUMO

Current trends in restorative dentistry focus on improving the esthetics and keeping the sound dental tissues as long as possible. The aims of this case report were to describe the successful outcome of cubic-phase zirconia laminate veneers for a patient with isolated microdontia by using a digital workflow, and to describe their clinical implications. A 15-year-old female who had isolated microdontia in combination with spacing visited Ajou University Dental Hospital for esthetic treatment. In this case, 6 maxillary anterior teeth were restored with cubic-phase zirconia laminate veneers without tooth structure removal by using a digital impression, computer-aided design (CAD) software, and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) procedures. At 6-month follow-up, no distinct mechanical and biological complications were detected and the prostheses exhibited satisfactory esthetics and functions. Due to its favorable tissue responses and enhanced translucency, cubic-phase zirconia can be a suitable strategy for a noninvasive esthetic approach.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE:To prepare the puerarin cubic phase, and study its in vitro transdermal characteristics under micronee-dle. METHODS:Using glycerol monooleate, ethanol, puerarin and purified water as materials, injection method was used to pre-pare the puerarin cubic phase. Polarizing microscopy and small angle X-ray diffraction were used for characterizing. The in vitro transdermal characteristics of Puerarin 10% ethanol solution and puerarin cubic phase were comparatively studied by modified Franz diffusion cell, and the in vitro transdermal characteristics of puerarin cubic phase under microneedle were studied. RE-SULTS:Prepared puerarin cubic phase had no obvious phase distribution under polarizing microscope with dark green color,show-ing isotropic trait. The ratio of scattering peak position was √6:√8,indicating that its internal structure was spiral lattice. The trans-dermal rates of Puerarin 10%ethanol solution and puerarin cubic phase were 15.306,29.101μg/(cm2·h),and the cumulative trans-dermal amounts within 20 h were 190,545 μg/cm2,respectively. After the pretreatment on skin by 200 μm microneedle, the trans-dermal rates of puerarin cubic phase was 78.15 μg/(cm2·h),and the cumulative transdermal amounts within 20 h was 1450 μg/cm2. CONCLUSIONS:Puerarin cubic phase is successfully prepared, which shows stronger transdermal ability than puerarin ethanol aqueous solution and better transdermal ability when combined with microneedle administration.

RESUMO

Objective To characterize the internal structures of fluconazole-loaded cubic phase gels and establish a method for determination of fluconazole. Methods Glycerol monooleate( GMO) was used as the liquid crystal material to prepare the fluconazole loaded cubic phase gels.Polarizing light microscopy ( PLM ) and small-angle X-ray scattering ( SAXS) were used to confirm their internal structures and establish an HPLC method for determination of their content. Results Cubic phase gels were the dark field under PLM,SAXS showed that the blank cubic phase gels had two single peaks:q1(0.832 09 nm-1 ) and q2 (1.017 nm-1 ) while the fluconazole-loaded cubic phase gels had two single peaks:q1(0.818 88 nm-1)and q2(0.950 95 nm-1).Under the selected HPLC, the linearity within the range of 20-500 μg/ml was good. Conclusion PLM and SAXS are reliable for characterization of cubic phase gels. The HPLC method can be used in quality control and evaluation of this enema.

RESUMO

Cubosome dispersions are thermodinamically stable, bioadhesive and biocompatible.Because of their properties, cubosome are versatile systems, administrable by different ways such as orally, percutaneously and parenterally. The discovery of cubosomes is a unique story and spans the fields of food science, differential geometry, biological membranes, and digestive processes. Despite the early realization of their potential, the manufacture of cubosomes on a large scale embodied difficulty because of their complex phase behaviour and viscous properties. Contributions to cubosome research have come from the fields of biology, material science, medicine, and mathematics and much is known about their formation and properties. At the center of much of the discovery and innovation is the technique of cryo-transmission electron microscopy. Another cubosome advantage is related to the simple production procedure and the chemico-physical stability. With respect to liposome, cubosome possesses a larger ratio between the bilayer area and the particle volume and a larger breaking resistance. Cubosome structure by means of electron microscopy, “light scattering”, x-ray and “NMR”, nevertheless few researchers have been studying the potential of cubosome as “delivery systems”.
