RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To prepare and verify the anticancer drug camptothecin(CPT) and its inclusion complex with cucurbit[7]uril(CB[7]). METHODS: Camptothecin-cucurbit[7]uril inclusion complex was prepared by the lyophilization. The complex was characterized by fluorescence spectroscopy, Fourier transformation-infrared spectroscopy(FI-IR), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and 1H-NMR. The dissolution properties of the inclusion complex was analyzed by ultraviolet spectrum. RESULTS: The formation of 1:2 complex with CB[7] in aqueous solution was confirmed by fluorescence spectroscopy and the apparent stability constant was 3.95×1012 L2•mol-2.The stability and solubility of camptothecin was significantly improved after it was included with cucurbit[7]uril. CONCLUSION: Stable complex can be formed between camptothecin and cucurbit[7]uril,and the solubility of camptothecin is increased by CB[7] significantly.

RESUMO

Field survey of the cucurbit crops revealed a high incidence of Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KPK), Pakistan. Among the seven districts surveyed, average percent incidence of CGMMV was recorded up to 58.1% in district Nowshera, followed by 51.1% in district Charsada, 40.5% in district Swabi and 37.3% in district Mardan. In Swat and Dir districts average incidence CGMMV was recorded upto 31.2% and 29.4%, respectively. Among the different crops highest incidence in plain areas of KPK was recorded in bottle gourd (59.3%) followed by 56.3% in Squash, 54.5% in Pumpkin, 45.5% in Melon, 41.7% in Cucumber and 29.9% in Sponge gourd. In Northern hilly areas highest incidence of CGMMV (52.9%) was observed in pumpkin, followed by 49.6% in bottle gourd, 47.3% in squash, 45.1% in Melon 42.3% in cucumber and 41.6% in sponge gourd. Little variability was observed in the coat protein amino acid sequence identities of CGMMV Pakistan isolate, when compared with other reported isolates.

RESUMO

First record of larvae of Allograpta exotica Wiedemann (Diptera, Syrphidae) preying on Aphis gossypii Glover (Hemiptera, Aphididae) in watermelon in Brazil. Brazil is one of the largest world producers of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus Thumb. Mansf.) and Aphis gossypii Glover, 1877 (Hemiptera, Aphididae) is among the most important pest on this crop. Larvae of Allograpta exotica Wiedemann, 1830 (Diptera, Syrphidae) were found preying on A. gossypii in watermelon crop, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, what represents the first report of this tritrophic association in Brazil.
