RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#To study the mediating role of emotion regulation strategies between symptoms and anxiety problems in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).@*METHODS@#Convenience cluster sampling was performed to select 435 eligible children with ADHD from 10 211 students in 10 elementary schools in Kashgar of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. SNAP-IV Assessment Scale, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents, and Conners Parent Symptoms Questionnaire were used to obtain relevant information. The Spearman correlation analysis and the moderated mediation method were used for data analysis.@*RESULTS@#For the children with ADHD, the score of cognitive reappraisal was negatively correlated with the scores of symptoms and anxiety problems (rs=-0.254 and -0.270 respectively, P<0.001), and the score of symptoms was positively correlated with the score of anxiety problems (rs=0.329, P<0.001). The analysis of mediating effect showed that cognitive reappraisal played a partial mediating role between symptoms and anxiety problems, with a 95% confidence interval of 0.008-0.027, and the mediating effect accounted for 16.10% of the total effect. In addition, sex played a regulatory role in this mediation model (P<0.001).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Cognitive reappraisal plays a mediating role between symptoms and anxiety problems in children with ADHD, while sex regulates the relationship of symptoms with cognitive reappraisal and anxiety problems in these children.

RESUMO

Objective@#To examine the relative importance of four emotion regulation strategies (i.e. cognitive reappraisal, expressive suppression, rumination and mindfulness) in explaining job burnout and depression of nurses.@*Methods@#We conducted a cross-sectional study with questionnaires for 1 037 nurses from two general hospitals. Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey (MBI-HSS), the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), Ruminative Responses Scale (RRS) and Short Inventory of Mindfulness Capability (SIM-C) were assessed.@*Results@#Dominance analysis revealed that in terms of job burnout, rumination, cognitive reappraisal and mindfulness could explain 41.38% (0.132/0.319), 30.09% (0.096/0.319) and 28.53% (0.091/0.319). In terms of depression, rumination and mindfulness could explain 68.6% (0.362/0.528)and 24.43% (0.129/0.528).@*Conclusions@#Rumination and mindfulness were important predictors of job burnout and depression of nurses. This study indicates that reducing ruminative responses and enhancement of mindfulness are the important approach to reduce nurses′ job burnout and depression.

RESUMO

Objective@#To investigate the posttraumatic growth and emotional regulation strategies of patients with moderate and severe burns at different time points in the rehabilitation period, and to explore the correlation between posttraumatic growth and emotional regulation strategies, so as to provide a basis for targeted nursing intervention.@*Methods@#By convenience sampling method, 115 convalescent patients with moderate and severe burns in Linyi People′s Hospital burn plastic surgery center were investigated by General Information Questionnaire, Chinese Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (C-PTGI), Emotion Regulation Scale (ERQ) respectively on the day of discharge (T1), 3 months and 6 months after hospital discharge (T2, T3) from December 2017 to January 2019.@*Results@#The post-traumatic growth scores of patients T1, T2 and T3 were 58.18±9.51, 48.65±9.31 and 47.43±8.76, respectively. The post-traumatic growth scores showed a downward trend at three time points, and the difference was statistically significant (F=339.732,P<0.01). The scores of T1, T2 and T3 in the cognitive reassessment dimensions of patients′emotion regulation strategies were respectively 27.10±4.13, 26.95±3.76, 26.11±3.60. The scores are going down and the differences were statistically significant (F=27.798, P<0.01). The expression inhibition scores were 14.42±4.39, 15.20±3.30, 15.21±3.56 respectively. The scores are the rise and the differences were statistically significant (F=13.675, P < 0.01). There were positive correlations between cognitive reassessment scores and posttraumatic growth scores、scores of all dimensions (r=0.230-0.555, P<0.05). The expression inhibition scores were negatively correlated with the total post-traumatic growth scores, personal strength, and scores of new possibility dimensions (r=-0.230--0.420, P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Posttraumatic growth of patients with moderate to severe burns is not optimistic in the rehabilitation period. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the guidance of emotional regulation strategies for patients with moderate to severe burns in the rehabilitation period, and carry out targeted interventions to promote the posttraumatic growth of patients.
