RESUMO

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), adopted by WHO in 2001, is an evolution of the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities and Handicaps (ICIDH). It is a model that integrates the levels of 1) body function and structures, 2) activity, and 3) participation, and uses a holistic approach by focusing on the health of the entire body with an emphasis on the positive aspects of being able to do things. In May 2019, the WHO General Assembly adopted ICD-11, revised after 30 years, and for the first time introduced the classification of diseases used in traditional medicine. A symposium organized by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) was held online on February 20, 2021, and is reported here.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To investigate the combined effect of cefoperazone/sulbactam with levofloxacin(group 1) and polymyxin B with rifampin(group 2) on 43 isolates of multi-drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa. METHODS The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) of all the antibiotics mentioned above was determined by agar dilution method.Fractional inhibitory concentration(FIC) index was calculated for all the selected isolates with all combinations, and the activities of antibiotics alone and in combination against the selected strains were evaluated. RESULTS The MIC of all the combined antimicrobials was reduced significantly(P

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the antibiotic effects of polymyxin B combined with meropenem against 110 strains of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.METHODS The protocol was designed by checkerboard method and the MICs of polymyxin B combined with meropenem against the 110 strains of A.baumannii were determined by broth dilution method, the FIC index was calculated according to MIC results.RESULTS The percentage of the FIC indexes less than 0.5,from 0.5 to 1,from 1 to 2 and more than 2 were 98%,2%,0% and 0%,respectively.CONCLUSIONS When polymyxin B combined with meropenem against 110 strains of A.baumannii the synergism and additivity are the main, there are no autonomy and antagonism.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To study the in vitro activity of cefepime combined with sulbactam against carbapenem-resistant strains of Acinetobacter spp clinically isolated. METHODS The activity of each drug alone was determined against 24 isolates. Chequerborad synergy testing was then performed against all the isolates. RESULTS The percentage of the FIC index showed 33.3% synergism, 62.5% additive, 4.2% (1/24) indifference, and no antagonism tively. CONCLUSIONS Testing of cefepime and sulbactam combinations revealed synergism and additivity activity against some carbapenem-resistant strains(23/24) of Acinetobacter spp which could be likely to prove beneficial effect for the treatment of infections due to multidrug-resistant strains of Acinetobacter spp.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To study the in virto interaction of allicin combined with cefoperazone against clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.METHODS The protocol was designed by checkerboard method and the MICs of allicin combined with cefoperazone against the 17 strains of sensitive and 14 strains of drug-resistant P.aeruginosa were determined by broth dilution method, the FIC index was calculated according to MIC results. The combined effects were confirmed by FIC index.RESULTS The percentage of the FIC index less than 0.5,from 0.5 to 1,from 1 to 2,and more than 2 was 41.2-64.3% 35.7-41.2% 0-17.6%,and 0%,respectively.CONCLUSIONS Synergism and additivity of allicin combined with cefoperazone against P.aeruginosa are their main action, there are little autonomy and no antagonism.Allicin can significantly improve the antibacterial activity of cefoperazone against drug-resistant P.aeruginosa.

RESUMO

Aim: To study the in virto interaction of Cefathiamidine in combination with Ciprofloxacin against clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis. Methods: The activity of each drug alone was determined against all the isolates. Chequerborad synergy testing was then performed against all the isolates. Results: The percentage of the FIC index less than 0.5, from 0.5 to 1, from 1 to 2, more than 2 was 53.3% - 93.3%, 6.7% - 46.7%, 0%, 0% respectively. Conclusion: Synergism and additivity of cefathiamidine combined with ciprofloxacin respectively against 90 strains of Gram positive cocci were the main inter actions, there were little autonomy and no antagonism.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the antibacterial effect of cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with minocycline or levofloxacin against 110 strains of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.METHODS Checkerboard method was designed for the minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) testing of cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with minocycline or levofloxacin against 110 strains of multidrug-resistant A.baumannii by agar dilution method, fractional inhibitory concentration(FIC) index was calculated according to MIC value.RESULTS The MIC50 of cefoperazone-sulbactam was reduced significantly and the antimicrobial activities were reinforced remarkably when combined with minocycline or levofloxacin. The FIC results suggested that the main action be synergistic and additivie(53%,59% and 39%,37%),there was less autonomy(8%,4%) and no antagonism.CONCLUSIONS Combined with minocycline or levofloxacin respectively,cefoperazone-sulbactam expresses synergism and additivity against multidrug-resistant A.baumannii and there is no autonomy and antagonism.

RESUMO

A preparation of water soluble components(EA) was made from carpophores of Elfvingia applanata(Pers.) Karst and its in vitro antibacterial activity on a number of bacterial species was examined by macrobroth dilution assay. Among 16 species of bacteria tested, the most potent antibacterial activity was observed against Staphylococcus epiderrnidis and Proteus vulgaris, of which MICs were 1.25 mg/ml. To investigate the antibacterial effects in combinations of EA with quinolone antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin, enoxacin, lomefloxacin, norfloxacin, and ofloxacin, the fractional inhibitory concentrations(FICs) and the fractional inhibitory concentration indices(FICIs) for four bacterial strains were determined by macrobroth dilution checkerboard assay. Combinations of EA and quinolones exhibited either additive or indifferent effects of antibacterial activity in most instances. However, both synergistic and antagonistic effects were not observed in any cases.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To valuate the antibiotic effects in vitro of Pazufloxacin combined with Cefoperazone/Sulbactam against 90 common pathogenic bacteria from hospital acquired infection. METHODS: The protocol was designed by checkerboard method. The MIC of two antibiotics alone or in combination against 90 strains (including 30 staphylococcus aureus, 30 Escherichia colis, 30 Pseudomonas aeruginosas) were detected by broth dilution method and the FIC index was calculated according to MIC values. RESULTS: The MIC of Pazufloxacin combined with cefoperazone/sulbactam against 90 strains was reduced significantly. The percentage of the FIC index maintained at less than 0.5, 0.5~1, 1~2, above 2 were 60.7%~80.0%, 20.0%~33.3%, 3.3%~6.6%, and 0% respectively. CONCLUSION: The antibiotic activity of Pazufloxacin combined with cefoperazone/sulbactam against 90 common iatrogenic strains from hospital acquired infection was enhanced significantly. Their antibacterial action in vitro was characterized by synergism and additive action instead of antagonistic effect.
