RESUMO

Objective:To explore the impact of emergency response to public health emergencies on the efficiency of pre-hospital emergency work, and study the degree of impact on 120 ambulance dispatchers in Chongqing city during pre-periods and post-periods of the emergency intervention.Methods:Taking 120 phone answering and ambulance operation efficiency as the research subjects, we collected pre-hospital emergency case data from a city's emergency medical center, covering the period from November 10, 2021 to January 6, 2023. The cases were divided into groups according to the time periods of emergency response. A regression discontinuity design method was employed to compare the response of emergency intervention to the predictions (virtual cases) without the emergency intervention, obtaining the average intervention effect.Results:During the study period of 27 days, the number of 120 calls picked up within 10 seconds increased from 11 000 to 19 000, but the answering rate slightly decreased within 10 seconds. The vacancy rate of 120 ambulances during emergency response decreased from 0.39% to 0.20%, but the completion rate within 18 minutes decreased from 72% to 30%. In this particular emergency response period, the number of patient complaints (such as high fever and difficulty breathing) increased compared to the pre-period of emergency response.Conclusion:Emergency response significantly impacts pre-hospital emergency work such as emergency phone answering and ambulance operation efficiency. This study provides empirical research results and decision-making support for urban emergency medical services to respond to public health emergencies.

Se efectuó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de 62 estudiantes de medicina, quienes asistieron a cursos extracurriculares en la sede de la Cruz Roja provincial de Santiago de Cuba, a fin de aprender a ejecutar primeros auxilios para salvar vidas, así como complementar su formación de actitudes y valores. Se realizaron 3 cursos (2 en el 2014 y uno en el 2015) con 20 horas cada uno, de 5:00 a 9:00 pm. De los alumnos matriculados, concluyeron con la ejecución de un examen final teórico-práctico 55 (88,7%); 36 cubanos y 19 extranjeros. Aquellos que aprobaron dicho examen recibieron certificados que les acreditarían como entrenados en primeros auxilios básicos y les permitirían trabajar como socorristas voluntarios en casos de desastre.


A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 62 medicine students who attended extracurricular courses in the provincial Red Cross office in Santiago de Cuba, was carried out in order to learn how to carry out first aids to save lives, as well as to supplement their training for attitudes and values. Three courses were carried out (2 in 2014 and one in 2015) with 20 hours each one, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Of the registered students, 36 Cubans and 19 foreigners concluded the theoretical-practical final exam (88.7%). Those that passed this exam received certificates that would credit them as trained in basic first aids and would allow them to work as voluntary rescuers in cases of disaster.

Introducción: los primeros auxilios son una vía expedita para atender accidentes en el hogar, el trabajo, el estudio y lugares públicos. En Medellín y Bello se desconoce el perfil de conocimientos sobre el tema en estudiantes de secundaria y no se dispone de una escala válida y fiable para medirlos. Objetivo: construir y evaluar una escala sobre conocimientos en primeros auxilios y analizar su puntaje en estudiantes de décimo y undécimo. Materiales y métodos: estudio transversal en 445 estudiantes seleccionados mediante muestreo probabilístico. En la evaluación de la escala se determinó la validez de apariencia y contenido, la validez de constructo y predictiva con análisis factorial, fiabilidad con α de Cronbach y consistencia interna por correlaciones de Pearson. En el perfil de conocimientos, los análisis de realizaron con frecuencias y medidas de resumen, U de Mann-Whitney, correlación de Sperman, Anova y regresión lineal multivariable. Resultados: la fiabilidad fue 0,7 y se hallaron correlaciones significativas entre cada punto de la escala y el puntaje global de conocimientos, el cual fue 42 (en una escala de 0-100) y no se encontró asociación estadística con la edad, el sexo, el grado escolar ni el municipio de residencia; sólo hubo asociación con el estrato socioeconómico. Conclusión: la combinación de algunos parámetros fisicoquímicos y microscópicos reportados en el uroanálisis puede ser una herramienta diagnóstica útil para predecir la positividad del urocultivo. los conocimientos fueron insatisfactorios lo que demuestra la necesidad de formular e implementar programas de educación, información y comunicación en salud acorde con el perfil hallado. La escala presentó buena validez, fiabilidad y consistencia interna.


Introduction: first aids are an effective form to provide care in accidents at home, work, study and public places. In Medellin and Bello is unknown the profile of knowledge of subjects in high school and there are no valid and reliable scale to measure them. Objective: to construe and to evaluate a scale of knowledge in first aids and analyze the score in students of tenth and eleventh. Materials and methods: cross-sectional study in 445 students selected using probability sampling. In the evaluation of the scale was determined appearance, content and construct validity, reliability with Cronbach α and internal consistency with Pearson coefficient. The Knowledge profile was analyzed with frequencies and summary measures, U Mann-Whitney, Spearman correlation, ANOVA and multivariate linear regression. Results: the reliability was 0.7, significant correlations were found between each point of the scale and global knowledge score, which was 42(on a scale of 0-100) and had no statistical association with age, gender, grade or municipality of residence, only there was association with the social stratum. Conclusion: the knowledge was unsatisfactory demonstrating the need to develop and implement Education Information and Communication programs in health. The scale showed good validity, reliability and internal consistency.

Objetivos. Evaluar el nivel de conocimientos de los estudiantes de medicina de once universidades peruanas sobre emergencias médicas. Materiales y métodos. Estudio transversal analítico, multicéntrico desarrollado entre 2007- 2008. Se utilizó un cuestionario de respuesta nominal autoaplicado con preguntas socio-educativas y diez de opción múltiple sobre emergencias médicas. Se obtuvo una muestra no probabilística de los matriculados en universidades participantes. Se obtuvieron el chi-cuadrado, los OR crudos y ajustados, con intervalos de confianza al 95 por ciento y análisis multivariado posterior. Resultados. Participaron 2109 estudiantes de medicina, la edad promedio fue 21 años (rango: 15-32), el 51 por ciento de género masculino. El 53 por ciento habían realizado un curso previo relacionado con emergencias médicas. El 60,4 por ciento desaprobó el cuestionario, la nota promedio fue 4,95 sobre 10 puntos posibles y 5,9 por ciento obtuvieron de 8-10 puntos. Se encontró una fuerte asociación entre la universidad de procedencia (OR: 0,45, IC95 por ciento 0,38-0,54), la etapa académica (OR: 1,55, IC95 por ciento 1,28-1,87), cuándo recibieron un curso del tema (OR: 0,62, IC95 por ciento 0,50-0,77) y el género (OR: 1,38, IC95 por ciento 1,15-1,65). Conclusiones. El nivel de conocimiento sobre emergencias médicas de los estudiantes de las once universidades evaluadas no es bueno, se sugiere evaluar y mejorar la formación práctica que brindan las universidades en temas de manejo de emergencias médicas.


Objectives. The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge about medical emergencies of medical students from eleven Peruvian universities. Materials and methods. Multicenter, cross-sectional study, conducted between 2007- 2008. We used a nominal response, self-administered questionnaire with socio-educational questions and ten multiple choice questions on medical emergencies. We obtained a nonrandom sample of participants enrolled in universities. We obtained the chi2, crude and adjusted ORs with 95 percent confidence intervals and ulterior multivariate analysis. Results. 2,109 medical students participated, the average age was 21 years (range: 15-32), 51 percent were males. 53 percent had taken a previous course related to medical emergencies. 60.4 percent failed the questionnaire, the average score was 4.95 over a maximum of 10 points and 5.9 percent obtained between 8-10 points. We found a strong association between the university of origin (OR: 0.45, 95 percent CI 0.38 to 0.54), the academic stage (OR: 1.55, 95 percent CI 1.28 to 1.87), when they received the course about subject (OR: 0.62, 95 percent CI 0.50-0.77) and gender (OR: 1.38, 95 percent CI 1.15 to 1.65). Conclusions. Knowledge of medical emergencies in the students of the eleven evaluated universities is not good, and we suggest the need of evaluating and improving the practical training offered by universities on issues regarding the management of medical emergencies.
