RESUMO

Objective To construct a rat fixation device for local infra-red irradiation in rats, observe the binding effect of this fixation device, and assess its practical application. Methods Twelve SD rats were held by this home-made simple device. The holding time was recorded at room temperature (24℃ to 26℃), 38℃ to 39℃ and 42℃ to 43℃ by infrared irradiation, respectively, and the maximum observation point was 60 min. Results Most rats (10/12) were held for more than 30 minutes at room temperature, 38℃ to 39℃ and 42℃ to 43℃ infrared irradiation. While 8 rats reached 60 min. There was no statistically significant difference among the holding times at various temperatures (P > 0.05).Conclusion This self-made device is simple, easy to operate and can be used to hold rats for a long time, and is a convenient and reliable holding device in animal experiments.

RESUMO

Objective To study the effect of infrared irradiation on the expression of epidermal growth factor EGF) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in the gastric mucosa of rats with chronic atrophic gastritis CAG),and to explore its mechanism. Methods Forty healthy adult and clean Wistar male rats were randomized into a normal control group (N group),a model control group (M group) and an infrared group (I group) using a random number table.CAG was induced in the rats of the M and I groups by intra-gastric infusion of 2 ml of a mixture of 30% alcohol and 2% sodium salicylate once every day for 8 weeks. This was combined with compulsory running and irregular fasting as pathogenic factors. After the CAG model had been established, the rats in the I group were given infrared irradiation for 10 rain once every day for 20 days. Then all of the rats were sacrificed and the expression of EGF and EGFR was observed using immunohistochemistry. Results The positive staining scores for EGF and EGFR of the M group were 4.91±2.58 and 6.75±2.63,significantly higher than those of the N group (2.10±0.65 and 4.20±2.24 respectively). Those of the I group were 2.75±1.01 and 4.75± 1.66,significantly lower than those of the M group, though not significantly different from the N group's averages. Conclusion Infrared irradiation can inhibit over-expression of EGF and EGFR in the gastric mucosa of rats with chronic atrophic gastritis. This should protect the gastric mucosa and promote tissue repair and healing.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of combining acupuncture and physical therapy with drugs on treating Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).Methods Sixty infants with DMD were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group (n =30 in each). Both groups were injected with Bozhi glycopeptide and given levocamitine and fructose sodium diphosphate orally. Moreover, the treatment group was additionally given acupuncture and physical therapy. Before and after 90 days of treatment, the time to walk 10 metres and to climb stairs of 2 metres high was measured,as were the serum creatine phosphate kinase (CPK),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and aspertate aminotransferase (AST) levels of all participants. Results After treatment, the average walking and stair climbing times of both groups were significantly shorter, and those of the treatment group were significantly shorter than those of the control group. Moreover, the average CPK,LDH and AST levels in the treatment group were significantly lower than before treatment and than those of the control group after treatment. There was a significant difference in the overall response rates, with 93% observed in the treatment group and 73% in the control group. Conclusion Combining acupuncture and physical therapy with drugs can significantly increase the mobility and improve the serum CPK,LDH and AST levels of children with DMD.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the efficacy of infrared irradiation combined with a topical solution of recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) in dressing second degree burns. Methods A total of 100 second degree burn cases were divided into a treatment group and a control group using a random number table. The treatment group received infrared irradiation combined with rhEGF topical solution; the control group was given only dressings with pure rhEGF topical solution.Pain was assessed by using the visual analogue scale, the time for wound secretions to completely disappear and wound healing time were assessed in both groups.ResultsPain was less severe in the treatment group, secretions completely stoppedmore quickly and average wound healing time was significantly shortened. The difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant.ConclusionInfrared irradiation combined with rhEGF topical solution can have synergistic effects in shortening the duration of secretions and wound healing time and alleviating pain. The combination is worthy of clinical promotion.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE To study the clinical effect of preventing and treating sterile phlebitis(abacterial phlebitis,SP) by infrared irradiation after peripherally inserted central catheterization(PICC).METHODS Totally 122 inpatients from the Zhejiang Provincial People′s Hospital were divided into two groups randomly, the control group and the experimental group. The control group was only treated with usual care after PICC,while the experimental group with both infrared irradiation and usual care. The incidence rate of SP and its correlation factor were compared between the two groups.RESULTS None in the experimental group got SP.Nevertheless, the control group got a 21.9%incidence rate. The development of SP mostly own to impassable intubation or repeating intubation.CONCLUSIONS For those patients with impassable intubation or repeating intubation during PICC operation, infrared irradiation shows greatly helpful and can obviously prevent the SP and diminish patients′ fee.
