Introduction: Tetanus is a disease caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani, with tetanus being the most common form of infection, characterized by generalized spasms of the musculature, which involves the muscles of the trunk rather than those of the limbs and, manifests symptoms of autonomic hyperactivity. Case description: The case of a 48-year-old male admitted to the Tracheostomized Clinic Hospital with a generalized tetanus diagnosis is presented. On the 30th day of his illness he received respiratory and motor kinesiotherapy, with 15 sessions performed. The kinesitherapy applied to the patient consisted of facilitating the elimination of bronchial secretions, improving lung expansion, re-educating swallowing, improving muscle strength and joint amplitude, inhibiting the sequelae of muscular hypertonia. Results: It was possible to improve the respiratory mechanics, the removal of the tracheostomy cannula and nasogastric tube, improved muscle strength and joint amplitude, being able to perform unsupported sitting and standing with assistance. Discussion: With the relaxing treatment, tracheostomy and assisted breathing, new problems appear, aspects that were addressed kinésicamente in the present clinical case, observing a shorter hospitalization time and greater physical independence compared to other published cases. Conclusion: For the application of kinesitherapy in patients with generalized tetanus, it is necessary to know the disease, its evolution and clinical management. Interdisciplinary work is very important, specifically with regard to medication and pain control, so that the advancement of kinesic techniques reaches its goal.

A therapeutic intervention study was carried out in 20 patients aged 40 to 59 with herniated disk, assisted in the Rehabilitation Service of "Ramón López Peña" Teaching Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, from August, 2013 to January, 2014, aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of ozone therapy and magnetotherapy. Scales were applied for the pain, muscular force, articular degree and functional skills. The male sex (60.0 %), the 40-49 age group (45.0%), the lumbar region as anatomical localization (55.0 %), the lumbar effort (35.0 %) and the spondyloarthrosis (30.0 %) prevailed as most common personal pathological history. When concluding the treatment there was improvement in 85.0 % of those affected, which demonstrated that the combination of both therapies was effective to elevate their physical and functional skills.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture kinesitherapy plus conventional acupuncture in treating cervical spondylosis.MethodSixty-eight patients with cervical spondylosis were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups, 34 cases each. The treatment group received acupuncture kinesitherapy plus conventional acupuncture and the control group, conventional acupuncture alone. Both groupswere treated three times a week for a total of two weeks. The VAS score was recorded in the two groups of patients before and after treatment. The clinical therapeutic effects were evaluated after treatment.Result There was a statistically significant pre-/post-treatment difference in the VAS score in the two groups of patients (P<0.01). There was a statistically significant post-treatment difference in the VAS score between the treatment and control groups (P<0.01). The total efficacy rate and the recovery rate were 100.0% and 73.5%, respectively, in the treatment group and 91.2%and 52.9%, respectively, in the control group. There were statistically significant differences in the total efficacy rate and the recovery rate between the two groups (P<0.05).ConclusionAcupuncture kinesitherapy plus conventional acupuncture has a goodtherapeutic effect on pain symptoms in cervical spondylosis patients. Its therapeutic effect is better than that of conventional acupuncture alone.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the clinical effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with kinesitherapy on dysfunction after brachial plexus injury. Methods 60 cases with brachial plexus injury following dysfunction were divided into two groups. The experi-mental group (n=30) was treated with neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with kinesitherapy. The control group (n=30) was treat-ed with kinesitherapy. Two groups were assessed by the brachial plexus function evaluation standard before and 3 months after the treat-ment. Results Two group all improved 3 months after the treatment (P<0.05), while the experimental group was better than the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with kinesitherapy is more effective to improve the function af-ter brachial plexus injury.

RESUMO

@#Many clinical researches and animal experiments proved that kineditherapy could undoubtedly improve the blood lipid level of dyslipidemia. The mechanism is that kineditherapy can regulate lipid metabolism, lipoprotein and lipoproteinic lipase. On the other hands kinesitherapy also indirectly modulates insulin, adhesion factors and cytokines to influence the blood lipid level. It is important for patients to choose suitable exercises and insist them for a long time. The effect of different activity intensity on lipid level has no distinct difference.
