RESUMO

Objectives.@#There is no existing Vietnamese diabetes knowledge questionnaire. This impedes assessment of patient knowledge that will be helpful in providing effective diabetes intervention. We aimed to validate the Vietnamese Translated Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ).@*Methodology@#Translation and adaptation strictly followed the guidelines of Beaton et al. Internal consistency was assessed by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, test-retest reliability was assessed by Fleiss’ Kappa coefficient, and validity value was determined among type 2 diabetes patients in a general hospital.@*Results@#The Vietnamese version of the DKQ had good internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha for all items = 0.898) and stability (Kappa coefficient >0.600). The average score for all equivalence criteria was 1.00, demonstrating good equivalence to the original. The significant difference between knowledge score and education level (p <0.001) confirmed construct validity.@*Conclusion@#Our study provided a reliable Vietnamese version of the DKQ. Future studies may apply the version in different regions in Vietnam to determine external validity.

Objectives: to evaluate the knowledge of asthma in teachers of primary and secondary education in the city of Córdoba. Determine if they consider their knowledge sufficient. The NAKQ2 questionnaire (Newcastle Asthma Knowledge Questionnaire) was applied and the current management was consulted regarding symptomatic students and if they considered their knowledge about Asthma to be sufficient. It was detected that the presence of asthmatics in their environment increased their knowledge (p0.001) and 95% self-rated their information insufficient. 80% of teachers did not know if they had asthmatic students. 25.3% witnessed mild attacks: 98% expected improvement without intervention, 7.2% allowed self-medication without intervention, 12.1% supervised and administered the medication, 11.3% advised the health personnel and 13.2% communicated with relatives. 5.7% experienced severe crises, 0.8% expected improvement without intervention, 0.4% allowed self-medication without intervention, 2.6% supervised and administered medication, 3.4% advised health personnel and 3.8% called relatives. Conclusion: Low level of knowledge about Asthma in teachers of the City of Córdoba was observed. Therefore, it is necessary to design educational intervention programs for teachers to improve the management and control of asthma in students.

RESUMO

Objective To study the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of AKT(the Apnea Knowledge Test). Methods The AKT was tested in a sample of 91 middle aged and elderly patients with obstructive sleep apnea and hypopnea syndrome and the AKT was retested in 30 of them after 1 month. Results Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was 0.76.Retest correlation coefficient was 0.96.There was significant difference between test and retest.Item analysis indicated that there was significant difference in most items between higher scores group and lower one except the fourth item. Conclusions AKT has satisfying reliability and validity which is suitable for evaluation of sleep apnea knowledge.
