RESUMO

Purpose: To identify a clinical and genetic form of a large Chinese family with an autosomal?dominant lattice corneal dystrophy type I (LCD I). Methods: The patients’ eyes were examined on the basis of slit?lamp microscopy, and other clinical records were also collected. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral leukocytes of the affected patients and their unaffected family members. Each previous reported mutation of the transforming growth factor ??induced gene (TGFBI) gene was amplified by touch?down polymerase chain reaction and directly sequenced to verify the disease?causing mutation. Results: Typical clinical features of LCD I were found by slit?lamp photography in these affected Chinese pedigrees. A heterozygous single base?pair transition from C to T (c.418 C > T), leading to amino acid substitution Arg124Cys (R124C) in the encoded TGFBI protein, was detected in all of the eighteen affected patients. The same mutation was not found in unaffected family members. Conclusion: The R124C mutation hot spot, which was relatively rare in China, was responsible for LCD I in the large family. Molecular genetic analysis of TGFBI gene can offer an accurate diagnosis of patients with lattice corneal dystrophies in the clinical treatment.

Genetic variants in glioma tumor suppressor candidate region gene 1 (GLTSCR1)and ATM serine/threonine kinase (ATM) have been associated with various cancer risks.Epidemiological studies also revealed the association of variants of GLTSCR1 and ATM genes with different brain tumors.However,little is known about the relationship between both gene polymorphisms and lung cancer risk.We conducted a Chinese hospital-based casecontrol study involving 384 lung cancer cases and 387 cancer-free controls.No significant differences in the single polymorphism (GLTSCR1 rs1035938 and ATM rs11212592)association were found in five genetic models (co-dominant,dominant,recessive,overdominant and log-additive models) (adjusted by smoking duration).Join effect of three SNPs (PPP1R13L rs1970764,CD3EAP rs967591,GLTSCR1 rs1035938) on chromosome 19q 13.3 showed that the designated haplotype2 (rs 1970764<rs967591A-rs 1035938c) [OR (95% CI)=1.60 (1.11-2.32),P=0.012] and haplotype8 (rs 1970764G-rs967591G-rs 1035938T)[OR (95% CI)=2.45 (1.17-5.12),P=0.018] were associated with increased risk of lung cancer (adjusted by smoking duration).The analysis ofmultifactor dimensionality reduction revealed that two 3-way models were the best fit models in analyses of 2 loci (P<0.001)or 4 loci (P=0.015-0.016).The entropy-based analysis indicated the strongest synergistic effect between PPP1R13L rs1970764 and ATM rs11212592 in analysis of four genes.In conclusion,our study suggests that haplotypes consisting of PPP1R13L rs1970764-CD3EAP rs967591-GLTSCR1 rs1035938 on Chr19q13.3,interaction of smoking and GLTSCR1 rs1035938-ATM rs11212592,and synergistic action of PPP1R13L rs1970764 and ATMrs11212592 may associate with lung cancer risk in the Chinese population.

BACKGROUND: The present study investigated the diagnostic effectiveness of an LCD-based visual field testing system (LVF) in comparison with the standard automated perimetry Humphrey Field Analyzer II-750i (HFA). METHODS: A randomized controlled crossover study was conducted with 202 normal and 128 glaucomatous eyes using both LVF and HFA. The visual field testing systems were compared in terms of mean deviation (MD), pattern standard deviation (PSD), and area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) of MD and PSD differentiating the normal and glaucomatous eyes. RESULTS: Significant correlations were found between MD measurements from LVF and those from HFA for normal eyes (r = 0.342) and glaucomatous eyes (r = 0.796); slightly higher significant correlations were identified between PSD measurements from LVF and those from HFA for normal eyes (r = 0.363) and glaucomatous eyes (r = 0.828). Furthermore, high AUCs of MD were found as 0.786 for LVF and 0.868 for HFA and AUCs of PSD as 0.913 for LVF and 0.932 for HFA. CONCLUSION: The comparison results of the present study support the competence of LVF compared with HFA in visual field testing for early detection of glaucoma.

RESUMO

This paper presents a design of multifunctional portable automated external defibrillator based on STM32F103VC SCM. The defibrillator mainly realizes the defibrillation and ECG analysis function, and according to the clinical actual need, increases information storage and transmission function, query of local records, the function of synchronous LCD display and voice prompt in the defibrillation process. The device uses the defibrillating electrodes to measure body resistance, ECG and so on. We detailedly researched and achieved the discharge module of biphasic defibrillation apparatus based on the damping of two order discharge circuit, and finished the real-time LCD display and voice prompt modules of defibrillation information based on the control of PIC24FJ256DA210 chip.

Background: To enhance successful communication medical teachers are increasingly using different visual aids. Objective: To determine medical students perception of different visual aids like black board (BB), over head projector transparencies (OHPT) and, LCD and to generate recommendations for their optimal use. Methods: A questionnaire based study was carried out among first year MBBS students of Government Medical College, Kota, India. The survey was undertaken among 84 Medical students of first year MBBS of batch 2008 after exposing them to different visual aids like BB, OHPT and LCD in Physiology lectures. A few lectures were absolutely on BB, and some were on OHPT and on LCD. Few classes were taken with mixed visual aids. Students were exposed for such visual aids for one year and then they were requested to complete a questionnaire. Data were statistically analyzed by One Sample Chi-square test. Results: 55 (65.48%) students rated chalk & black board as best visual aids in understanding the topic better as compared to OHPT and LCD (P<0.01). 47 (55.95%) students have good learning experience with black board teaching and it is best mode to note down important points. 56 (66.66%) students favored LCD as more interesting and interactive visual aids (P<0.01). It also complete the lecture faster which was advantageous for 69(82.17%) students. 77 (91.66%) students wanted mixing of different visual aids (P<0.01). Mostly (75%) do not find any difficulty in switching from one mode to another. No significant gender difference was observed. Conclusion: To improve students learning medical teachers should match the lectures with preferred visual aids. It will maintain interest and enthusiasm among pupil.

RESUMO

Objective To provide the experimental data for standard establishment and ergonomics research on manned spaceflight displays basing on relation of six effect factors to function of human-machine system as displaying with LCD,and the best factor-level-composition is chosen.Methods An experimental system was developed.The orhoganal experiment means was adopted.Twenty subjects were asked to finish three tasks: to view parameters of the whole screen interface,to seek local parameters,to identify the fault events quickly.Three indices: reaction time,error times and times of unable to recognize were analyzed.Results The indices were much different for different factors at different levels.According to the indices of mean reaction time,extreme difference of view-angle was the lowest and view-distance the highest.Conclusion The order of the display effects of different factors on human-machine system is successively: viewdistance,illuminant level,character height,color of character/background and viewangle.

The hardware interface between MCS-51 and DPK LCD module is presented and the software driver base on KeilC51 language is introduced in this paper. RESUMO

The ambulatory EEG recorder designed in this paper can continuously record 24-hour EEG signals on 18 channels. C8051F020, a kind of mixed-signal ISP FLASH MCU, controls all the functions such as sampling, storage and many others. The 12-bit ADC in C8051F020 samples the EEG signal amplified by the preamplifier. At the same time, the EEG signal of every channel can be selected through the keyboard to be displayed on LCD so that the working status can be detected. After the system is ready, the signals sampled during 24 hours are stored into the CompactFlash card as FAT16 files.

RESUMO

Objective To overcome the disadvantages of the traditional auscultating method and design the electro-auscultating visual system integrating the monitoring and recording functions.Methods The portable system consisted of the module pre-gathering and electro-auscultating heart-sound signal,the circuit of A/D converting and MCU,as well as the device of signal LCD-displaying in real-time and the USB mass storage device.Results Portable electro-auscultating system was realized,which integrated the functions of watching,monitoring and recording.Conclusion The portable system is more convenient for clinical doctors to get correct information from patients,benefiting to the clinical pathology-statistics and profound development of the related data.

RESUMO

Objective To resolve the difficulty in controlling the transfusion speed by medical personnel.Methods By using liquid drop sampling module,pulsing signals of liquid drop were obtained,and then they were enlarged,shaped and the wrong signals from the top and bottom surface of every drop were excluded before the standard triggered signals were sent out to SCM processing circuit,from which the real-time liquid drop speed and the average drop speed in every minute were obtained.Results Anti-interference and portable transfusion-drop counter could show the real-time liquid drop value and the average liquid drop value in every minute.Conclusion Anti-interference and portable transfusion-drop counter is convenient with simple structure and has been used in clinic.

BACKGROUND: The relation of initial depression and weight loss in a low calorie diet(LCD) alone or exercise combination in Korean wamen, was considered and change of emotional state after program was determined in this study. METHODS: Sixty obese females were randomly prescribed a LCD(low calorie diet) alone or a LCD with exercise. Thirty obese females were treated with a LCD of 1,000kcal/d for 8weeks(group A). Another thirtyt obese females were treated with a LCD of 1,000kcal/d combined with supervised aerobic exercise for 8 weeks(group B). Questionnaires including Korean-translated Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Korean- translated Brief Encounter Psychosocial Instrument(BEPSI) were reported before and after 8weeks fo this study. RESULTS: 21 out of 30 obese females in group A and 25 out of 30 obese females in group B completed the study. At the eighth week, mean weight loss was 5.7+/-2.2kg(8.0%) in group A, and 6.8+/-1.7kg(9.5%) in group B. Depression were decreased after program(decreased BDI score in combined group(6.86+/-6.31: p = 0.0001), group A(5.79+/-4.06:p=0.0001) and group B(7.68+/-7.58:p=0.0001), but no statistically significant difference between group A and B was noted(p=0.3309). Initial BDI score was negatively correlated with the percent of weight loss in group A(r =-0.659: p=0.0012). But initial BDI score was not correlated with the percent of weight loss in group B(r =0.099: p=0.637). In group A and B, the percent of weight loss was not correlated with change of BDI score. In group A and B, the change of BDI score was positively correlated with the initial BDI score(group A;r=0.504:p=0.028, group B;r=0.762:p=0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: Regardless of the exercise combination, LCD therapy seemed to decrease diepression. The degree of weight loss was negatively correlated with initial degree of depression. this negative correlation can be compensated by planned thorough exercise.

Objective To provide precise data of encephalic pressure of the patients with higher encephalic pressure.Methods Through a hole bored in the proper position on the top of skull,a 1mm vessel,full of physiological saline,was inserted into the ventricle,whose outside was connected with the sensor through a 3-way stop cock.The sensor transformed the pressure into electrical signals and transmitted them to micro-computer C8051F020 for data processing.The value of pressure was then displayed on the LCD.Results Real-time and precise detection could be acquired by this intracranial pressure gage.Conclusion The digital intracranial pressure gage is easy-to-operate,simple and portable.

RESUMO

Based an ordinary ECG, this paper deals with a portable monitor system able to measure the values of QRS. With a liquid crystal display (LCD), this monitor is suitable for China's special condition. Besides developing the overall scheme of the system, this paper also performs the designs for the hardware and software. The 80196 single chip microcomputer is taken as the central microprocessor to process and analyze the realtime ECG signals. With the performances of the ordinary monitor, this monitor also has such functions as arrhythmia analysis, HRV analysis, alarm, self-freeze and paper self-advance. Being convenient to carry, this monitor can be powered by alternate current (AC) or direct current (DC). Stability, low power consumption and low cost are emphasized on in the hardware design and structured design is applied to the software design. With a high versatility and a low cost, this monitor has a valuable reference to China's monitor.

RESUMO

Objective To research and develop a new type of temperature recorder system of vehicle-mounted blood bank which is used in the field training and combat. Methods Based on ATmega48 SCM as control core, the components including digital temperature recorder, LCD, buzzer and so on are used. Results The recorder can not only monitor temperature and display real-time, but also store the data in the recorder of the serial EEPROM (CAT24C64). Additionally, when the temperature exceeds the given range, it can be automatic alarm. Conclusion The temperature recorder with a short collection cycle, the record for a long time and high sensitivity, cost-effective, small size and easy to carry, etc., can be widely used in medicine, food, chemicals, electronic manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, as well as agriculture and other sectors.

RESUMO

Objective To design LCD system based on MSP430 using LCD controller S1D13700. Methods MSP430's control bus adopted the communication mode of MSC-51 singlechips, and was connected with S1D13700 by 8-bit data bus. The address buses were linked by the modes of indirect address and direct address respectively. Results The design was used for displaying cardiac wave and its parameters in cardiac monitor successfully. Conclusion The S1D13700's driver program, accomplished with standard ANSI-C, is gifted with brilliant versatility, and thus can be used in the design of the portable device.

RESUMO

Objective To design a holter, which can record ECG for long time. Methods SD(secure digital) card was adopted as mass storage medium. The preprocessed ECG signals were converted into digital data which were stored temporarily into SD card by the USB-2.0-spicified microcontroller CY7C68013A. Results SPI bus was introduced for data communication between the host and SD card. The LCD module was utilized to display the menu and states of the system. The data stored in SD card were transmitted to a PC via the USB, or read by a specified card reader.1 GB SD card could record for about one month. Conclusion The portable design of this device is convenient for outgoing.
