Lichen aureus is a chronic pigmentary purpuric dermatosis. Clinically is characterized by macules, papules and plaques of golden-brown coloration, located in lower extremities. Histologically by a lichenoid and perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate with extravasation of erythrocytes in the dermis. Dermoscopy show a speckled purpura pattern on a yellowish background. We report a 19 year old man who presented asymptomatic macules, isolated papules and golden-brown plaques on his left thigh for 7 months. Dermoscopy and histopathology study confirmed the diagnosis and treatment with tacrolimus 0.1% ointment was indicated, achiving clinic improvement and no progression of previous lesions (AU)

RESUMO

Lichen aureus is a rare type of chronic pigmented purpuric dermatosis. The eruptions consist of discrete or confluent golden to brownish lichenoid macules and papules, and are usually asymptomatic. Lichen aureus commonly occurs in young adults, but less frequently in children. We report the first case of multiple lichen aureus occurring in a Korean child.

RESUMO

Lichen aureus appears usually as asymptomatic golden to purpuric colored lesion and consists of lichenoid papules, patches, and plaques. This disease is regarded as a variant of pigmented purpuric dermatitis. The main cause remains largely unknown. It is common on the lower extremity, and generally occurs as a solitary lesion, however, also rarely occurred as a zonal, bilateral or segmented form. We present a 28-year-old man who had multiple, variable sized, red-brownish to purpuric colored papules and patches on both lower extremities, ankles and forearms. On histopathological examination, the lesion revealed features of lichen aureus. This patients condition was improved by treatment with oral and topical corticosteroid agent. Since this case appeared to be a very unique case of multiple lichen aureas, we reported the case herein.

RESUMO

Lichen aureus is regarded as an uncommon variant of the pigmented purpuric dermatosis and resistant to treatment. Recently several authors reported the PUVA therapy to be effective in the pigmented purpuric dermatosis, but there was no report that the PUVA therapy was tried to the lichen aureus. We tried topical PUVA therapy on a 54-year-old male with bilateral lichen aureus. After 23 times of topical PUVA therapy, the lesion improved markedly. This report may provide a new method of treatment for lichen aureus.

RESUMO

Lichen aureus is a variant of pigmented purpuric lichenoid dermatitis. The skin lesions usually appear asymptomatic rusty, copper, or orange colored roundish lichenoid erythematous-purpuric papules and patches on the lower extremities. Histologically, the epidermis shows minimal changes, with a dense lymphohistiocytic infiltrate observed in the superficial derrnis, typically distributed in a band-like fashion. The typical lesion is a single patch localized on the lower extremity. We report a rare case of segmental lichen aureus localized on the right lower extremity.

RESUMO

A case report of a 60 year-old man with lichen aureus of leg is presented. Clinically the solitary golden to purple colored patch consists of lichenoid papules, plsque, and mild petechiae around the lesion, and the histology reveals a dense and bandlike infiltrate hugging thepidermis. It consists of lymphocytes, histiocytes, eosinophils, and many extravasated erythrocytes and hemosiderin in dermis, but a few red cells and increased melanin pigment can also be seen in the epidermis. The eruption is mildly itchy and has been present 6 months.

RESUMO

Lichen aureus is a rare disorder classified as a pigmented purpuric dermatosis. This case report is of a 46-year-old female in whom a coin sized, gold tinted, erythematous maculopapule developed on the right lower quadrant of the abdomen l0 years ago which showed characteristic histological findings of lichen aureus consisting of lymphohistiocytic infiltration in the upper dermis and extravasation of red blood cells.
