RESUMO

ObjectiveTo investigate the training needs of knowledge of scientific research ethics and ethical review among medical graduate students in Shandong Province, and provide targeted suggestions for carrying out education and training on scientific research ethics for medical graduate students. MethodsA random sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 807 medical graduate students from 7 medical colleges and universities in Shandong Province. The data were statistically described and analyzed, and Pearson’s chi-squared test and binary logistic regression were used to analyze the influencing factors. ResultsThere were 94.1% of medical graduate students believed that they “need” to receive training on knowledge of scientific research ethics. Their training needs were ranked as ethical principles of science and technology (75.5%), the content of ethical review (68.5%), ethical review process (68.3%), ethical issues that may be involved in frontier fields (63.6%), ethics committee system (58.1%), applied ethical regulation for medical scientific research (55.8%), and interpretation of relevant ethical documents (42.4%). The training forms and methods were, in order, online knowledge lectures (67.4%), academic conferences organized by relevant ethical review organizations (60.3%), the teaching methods in traditional classrooms (48.8%), learning by tutors or research groups (48.5%), conducted by the unit during the internship and work period (26.4%), and other forms (2.6%). The results of the regression analysis showed that medical graduate students with experience in project application and ethics course learning have a higher willingness for training needs in scientific research ethics (P<0.05). ConclusionThe education and training on scientific research ethics among medical graduate students still need improvement, and graduate students have an urgent need for training on scientific research ethics. Schools and hospitals should overall plan and set up a perfect science and technology ethics curriculum system, strengthen the practical training of medical research ethical review, and diversify the ways of scientific research ethics training for medical graduate students, to accelerate the improvement of research ethics literacy of them.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the current sources of stress for medical graduates, their personality characteris-tics and social support. Methods 208 postgraduates of Peking Union Medical College were surveyed by question-naire with the Graduate Student Stressor Scale, Symptom Checking List ( SCL-90) , NEO Five-Factor Inventory and Perceived Social Support Scale ( PSSS) . Results According to the five common stressors such as academic, economic, employment, physical and mental health, and tutor relationship, single-factor analysis of variance ( ANOVA) showed that there were significant differences in the composition of pressure sources between different sexes and grades. Univariate correlation analysis showed that all five dimensions of stressors had a significant posi-tive correlation with anxiety and depression symptom. There was a positive correlation between stressor and neurotic personality, and significant negative correlation with extroversion and rigorous personality. Furthermore, the stressors were significant negative correlation with perceived social support. Conclusions Medical graduate students are under various pressures at present. It is necessary to pay more attention to the education and training in the fu-ture and adopt diversified measures to rationalize them.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the teaching effectiveness of applying article structure analysis to improve medical graduate students' ability to read research articles. Methods 48 medical graduate students from basic medicine school of the Fourth Military Medical University were randomly and equally divided into the experimental group and control group. In the reading ability training of scientific research papers, the experimental group used the teaching of the structure analysis, while the control group used the collective self study. Before and after the training, the two groups of students were implemented a unified reading ability test and self reading ability evaluation survey, and after the training, the teaching satisfaction survey was conducted among the experimental group only.SPSS 16 was used to analyze the correlation data and Wilcoxon for signed-rank t est. Results After training the reading ability test results showed that reading ability score (P=0.013),consumed reading time score (P=0.003) and reading efficiency (P=0.004) of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of control group. The two groups of students' self-evaluation of the reading ability showed that after training, the scores of the students in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P values were less than 0.05).The experimental group students' teaching satisfaction survey to article structure analysis showed students' score in 6 survey contents were greater than 3,namely degree of evaluation was more than general, among which, the score of four survey contents was more than 4,that is to achieve satisfied or very satisfied.Conclttsion Applying article structure analysis can significantly improve medical graduate students' ability to read research articles.
