RESUMO
Nevus of Nanta is a melanocytic nevus with secondary ossification. Many theories involving external stimuli have been proposed to explain this rare condition; however, the origin of the ossification within the melanocytic nevus remains unknown. A 70-year-old woman presented with an asymptomatic solitary skin-colored papule with a central depression on the right malar area for one year. Histopathologic examination revealed an intradermal nevus with bone trabeculae. We herein report an interesting case of nevus of Nanta.

Cutaneous ossification is an unusual event, and it may be primary or secondary to either inflammatory or neoplastic processes. It is classified as primary when it occurs in the absence of a demonstrable preexisting lesion. Secondary ossifications have most commonly been reported to occur with pilomatricoma, basal cell carcinoma, acne vulgaris and melanocytic nevi (nevus of Nanta). Nevus of Nanta is a pigmented nevus associated with secondary ossification. The histopathological features of an osteo-nevus of Nanta are nests of nevus cells, and bony spicules are observed beneath a melanocytic nevus. We report here two cases of osteo-nevus of Nanta.

A 52-year-old man presented with a brown to black nodule on his left cheek. Histological examination revealed nests of nevus cells throughout the upper and mid-dermis. An eosinophilic oval-shaped bony structure was found within the nevus. We report here on a case of nevus of Nanta combined with metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

Nevus of Nanta is a pigmented nevus associated with secondary ossification. We describe a case of nevus of Nanta with no evidence of Albright's hereditary osteodystrophy. A 26-year-old Korean woman presented with a small asymptomatic brownish nodule on the right forehead. Histopathologic examination revealed nests of nevus cells in the dermis. Round ossification was in the base of intradermal nevus.

Nevus cell nevus in bone has been called osteo-nevus of Nanta since Nanta reported it in detail in 1911. We report a 46-year-old female patient with osteo-nevus of Nanta on her forehead. Histologic examination revealed nests of nevus cells, with numerous osteocytes and osteoblasts in the bony tissue. Inflammatory cell infiltrate and foreign body granuloma were not found.
