RESUMO

Background As one of the common tools for job burnout assessment, Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS), its reliability and validity across different populations in China have not been examined yet. Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of General Burnout Scale (GBS) by multiple occupational groups through the translation and preliminary test of MBI-GS. Methods Based on the Special Project of Occupational Hazards in Key Populations led by the Institute of Occupational Health and Poison Control, China CDC, key occupational groups in five typical industries were selected by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling, including teachers, firefighters, manufacturing workers, medical staff, and traffic police. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to evaluate the construct validity of GBS by single-factor, two-factor, and three-factor structure models. The model fitness was assessed by ratio of the chi-square statistic to the respective degrees of freedom (χ2/ν), root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA), goodness-of-fit index (GFI), comparative fit index (CFI), and parsimony-adjusted non-normed fit index (PNFI). Spearman correlation analysis was used to calculate the criterion validity of GBS with occupational stress, depressive symptoms, and sleep disorders. Cronbach's α coefficient and composite reliability (CR) coefficient were used to evaluate the internal consistency reliability of GBS. Results A total of 3485 subjects were surveyed in this study, 3375 valid questionnaires were recovered with a valid response rate of 96.84%. The results of CFA showed that in the adjusted three-factor structure model of GBS (exhaustion, cynicism, and professional efficacy), the χ2/ν < 4, the RMSEA ranged from 0.032 to 0.069, the GFI > 0.90, the CFI > 0.90, and the PNFI > 0.70, which illustrated a good fitness than that of the single- or the two-factor structure models in different occupational groups. The Spearman correlation analysis results showed that occupational stress, depressive symptoms, and sleep disorders were positively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions, and negatively correlated with professional efficacy dimension of the GBS, with the \begin{document}$ \left| r \right| $\end{document} ranging from 0.139 to 0.662 (P<0.05) in overall subjects. For traffic police and firefighters, professional efficacy was not correlated with depressive symptoms or sleep disorders (P>0.05). The Cronbach's α coefficients ranged from 0.819 to 0.899, and the CR values ranged from 0.941 to 0.978 in different occupational groups. Conclusion The GBS shows high reliability and validity, as well as good application effects in different occupational groups.

RESUMO

Background Gene sequencing industry is an emerging innovation-driven industry. Employees have high requirements for independent learning and innovation ability and face great professional pressure. Objective To understand the occupational stress, depression, and sleep of gene sequencing enterprise employees and to analyze the effect of occupational stress on depression and sleep. Methods From November to December 2021, occupational stress, depression, and sleep conditions of 469 workers from 34 enterprises in gene sequencing industry were surveyed by Core Occupational Stress Scale (COSS), Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). A total of 427 valid questionnaires were recovered with a questionnaire valid response rate of 91.04%. The relationship of occupational stress with depression or sleep was analyzed by logistic regression. Results The rates of occupational stress, depression, and sleep disorder were 27.40%, 33.50%, and 28.10%, respectively. Significant difference were found in the rates of depression and sleep disorder in different occupational stress groups (P<0.05). The results of logistic regression analysis showed that, for every 1 increase in social support score, the risk of depression increased by 1.206 (95%CI: 1.117−1.304), and the risk of sleep disorder increased by 1.143 (95%CI: 1.059−1.233). For every 1 increase in organization and reward score, the risk of developing depression increased by 1.082 (95%CI: 1.017−1.151). Mild, moderate, and severe occupational stress were all associated with a higher risk of depression in reference to no occupational stress (OR=2.535, 95%CI: 1.465−4.386; OR=3.774, 95%CI: 1.809−7.870; OR=3.823, 95%CI: 1.486−9.837). Severe occupational stress was associated with a higher risk of sleep disorder in reference to no occupational stress (OR=3.141, 95%CI: 1.233−8.006). Conclusion Occupational stress among employees in the gene sequencing industry can increase the risks of depression and sleep disorder. Enterprises need to take intervention measures and pay attention to prevention and treatment.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the influencing factors of low back pain and the relationship of the influence of bad working posture, weight load and frequency of load and the dose-response relationship among the occupational workers of key industries in China. METHODS: A total of 57 501 employees from 15 key industries in China were selected as research subjects using stratified cluster sampling method. The occurrence of low back pain in the past one year, as well as occupational factors such as job type, labor organization and work posture were investigated by using the Chinese version Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire. RESULTS: The prevalence of low back pain in the occupational population of key industries in China was 16.4%(9 448/57 501). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of low back pain in females was higher than that in males(P<0.01). Married, obese, occasional and frequent smokers, and a history of lower back disease were associated with increased risk of low back pain(all P<0.05). The risk of low back pain was associated with older age, higher education level, and lower frequency of physical exercise(all P<0.01). The risk of low back pain was higher with longer working time, greater back curvature, and the high frequency of long standing and sitting position work, uncomfortable working posture, repeated operation per minute, and lifting>5 kg weight(all P<0.01). CONCLUSION: The influencing factors of low back pain in the occupational population of key industries in China include bad working posture, high frequency load, weight load and other individual factors. There is a dose-response relationship with low back posture load and frequency of load.

RESUMO

Objective To detect the positive rates of antibodies against avian influenza virus (AIV) subtypes H5, H6, H7 and H9 among people in poultry occupations in Guangdong province and to analyze the transmission of various subtypes of AIV from poultry to human contacts for the prevention and control of novel AIV infection in human beings. Methods Serum specimens were collected from 1066 peo-ple in poultry occupations ( occupational group) and 205 people not in poultry occupations ( non-occupational group) in 10 cities of Guangdong province. The inactivated AIV strains, isolated from poultry or environment of Guangdong province, were used as antigens to detect antibodies against AIV subtypes H5, H6, H7 and H9 by using the hemagglutination inhibition ( HI) assay. Results The positive rates of antibodies against AIV subtypes H5, H6, H7 and H9 carried by people from the occupational group were respectively 0.44%, 0%, 0.30%and 0.30%in 2013 and 1.08%, 0.0%, 0.0%and 0.27%in 2014.Only the anti-H9 anti-bodies were detected in serum samples collected form people in the non-occupational group in 2013 with a positive rate of 0.95%.No significant differences with the positive rates of anti-AIV antibodies were found between the occupational group and the non-occupational group. However, the geometric mean titer ( GMT) of anti-AVI antibodies in people from the occupational group was higher than that of the non-occupational group. Conclusion Although a grand spread of AIV from avian to human is not likely to happen yet, con-tacting with poultry is the risk factor for AIV infection in Guangdong population.A long-term surveillance of anti-AIV antibodies in serum should be strengthened among people in poultry occupations for the timely pre-vention and control of novel AIV outbreak.
